AI voice mod for Kvatch Rebuilt is pretty neat. Just trained off of the vanilla voices so it integrates a lot more seamlessly with the base game.

That's a balance issue with any of the landmasses. I can't imagine what a lvl 30 demigod is doing collecting taxes from farmers in Anvil, or running errands for ragass barbarians in Skyrim, except for larping as a mailman.Vergil wrote: β August 22nd, 2024, 22:12If I'm a level 30 demigod who can fly at the speed of light, jump across the map, and one shot gods I'm really not gonna be interested in doing fetch quests in ebonheart on hour 120 of my playthrough.maidenhaver wrote: β August 22nd, 2024, 22:01There's no reason to run out of stuff to do with the mainland.
I'm saying you could have multiple different starts for each province. So instead of playing one big Tamriel playthrough where you get OP and burned out you have multiple TES games.maidenhaver wrote: β August 23rd, 2024, 04:28That's a balance issue with any of the landmasses. By default xp gain is dramatically lowered and you take a train to the Mojave and get the NV intro. I'm pretty sure Doc Mitchell hands you all your stuff back and you're good to go. There are multiple submods that do things like strip you of your gear and/or reset you to level 1. The one I use puts your gear in Benny's safe and resets you to level 1 but with increased XP gain and your perks intact.

I know I already said this but I'm close to 100% skyrim and I have to say again: **** this game is bland and boring. I have no idea how this got to the top of any lists. It's basically a ubislop game. The quests and dialogue all suck and the gameplay is like eating boiled unseasoned chicken. Can I write a review in the review section @WhiteShark I want to rant about how bad this game is.

This kind of brings up a question I was curious on. For games that are extremely massive like say Skyrim or even Daggerfall what exactly is the minimum threshold of content completed to allow a review?WhiteShark wrote: β August 24th, 2024, 22:12Feel free, but you should be prepared to write a serious review if you want us to publish it as such: viewtopic.php?p=8634-want-to-write-a-re ... here#p8634Nooneatall wrote: β August 24th, 2024, 22:03I know I already said this but I'm close to 100% skyrim and I have to say again: **** this game is bland and boring. Certainly at least the main quest, but we've never discussed what degree of side content completion is necessary. My personal opinion is that any amount is fine as long as the reviewer didn't go out of his way to skip all of it. In other words, an 'organic' amount, whatever the reviewer felt inclined to do in the context of his character and playthrough.Vergil wrote: β August 24th, 2024, 22:13This kind of brings up a question I was curious on. Gotcha, although for some games the main quest definitely seems like a side story with the side content being the main focus.WhiteShark wrote: β August 24th, 2024, 22:39Certainly at least the main quest, but we've never discussed what degree of side content completion is necessary. There's no doubt some truth to that, but, outside of LARP runs, completing the main story is at least ostensibly the central goal of the game, so it makes sense to write a review in the context of how the game plays while working toward and completing the central goal.Vergil wrote: β August 24th, 2024, 22:43Gotcha, although for some games the main quest definitely seems like a side story with the side content being the main focus.
I know this is definitely not the case and there's a million reasons I'm sure why it couldn't be the case but I like the imagine that the protagonist of Oblivion is the Agent from Daggerfall. Just having the Agent canonically die from the Dragon Break is really lame to me (especially since the Agent trying to use the totem himself was cut content). Not to mention it's a bit unfair that everyone else got to continue living despite dying in other endings. For me I imagine the Numidium fuckery caused the Agent to essentially become metaphysically unpersoned retroactively. So now being stuck in the middle of ****** up court politics and no one knowing (or caring) who he is the Agent ends up imprisoned for one reason or another until a Uriel Septim who dreams of this vaguely familiar figure shows up in his cell.

tes games are pretty front-loaded, and since Morrowind, they've worked around that by having a narrative break in the mq. In mw, you get promoted to opperative, oblivion you get sent ro find artefacts, and skyrim you look for dragon burials. The mq's are paper thin. Skyrim doean't have good guilds, though.Nooneatall wrote: β August 24th, 2024, 22:03I know I already said this but I'm close to 100% skyrim and I have to say again: **** this game is bland and boring. This is a very good Opinionmaidenhaver wrote: β August 22nd, 2024, 22:01The mainland is different. Vvardenfell is a wild west volcano island. There's no reason to run out of stuff to do with the mainland. Plus, the otjer provinces suck.
Only Morrowind has narrative breaks in the main quest. One of the most common criticisms of Oblivion and Skyrim is that it railroads you into the plot and then keeps a constant pace where you have to use cognitive dissonance to explain why your character fucks around picking mushrooms and flirting with argonian girls during the apocalypsemaidenhaver wrote: β August 25th, 2024, 05:00tes games are pretty front-loaded, and since Morrowind, they've worked around that by having a narrative break in the mq. You get sent on three or four errends to find artefacts for Martin, all taking you across the map, and he's safe in hiding, so I counted it as a break. Then you need to find allies for Bruma, so Cpt Bird doesn't die. That's how I played it.
Yea you're given very specific instructions to go immediately do things to stop the gates to hell pouring out demons that keep opening. Martin never goes "I need time to translate this text come back in a week". Martin is safe in hiding but that won't really last if half of Cyrodiil is destroyed by Daedra.maidenhaver wrote: β August 25th, 2024, 15:25You get sent on three or four errends to find artefacts for Martin, all taking you across the map, and he's safe in hiding, so I counted it as a break. Because modern Bethesda design had taught you that the world is in a constant state of stasis until the player interacts with it so why would you worry? However if you flip your brain on and try to take the plot at face value it's extremely incongruous with the game's design. Bethesda has a do anything you want at any time gameplay design philosophy but a world ending apocalypse main quest design.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

Nah, oblivion was my first bethesda game. I left Sean Bean in the secret hideout and quested around the world, closing gates and killing vampires, while he researched the book.
