I don't think it's gonna be "good". It's Bloober team, they are a bunch of hacks who are only good at making fancy looking environments.

Silent Hill 1-4 cannot be and should not be remade. They are all about 'vibes' and 'atmosphere', the precise things that cannot be replicated by a different team from a different country with a different culture in a different time. And if you can't do that, then what's the point? It's not like SH games have intricate never-seen-before stories, or distinct gameplay features. They are basically watered down Resident Evil games, and their main draw are the various idiosyncrasies born from the way the Japanese devs view the western supernatural horror media.

I would've preferred Konami to put resources into hiring a bunch of programmers adept at reverse-engineering so they could properly remaster the Team Silent quadrology onto modern platforms.
I don't think any western studio has the same attitude and mindset that Team Silent did to be able to create something actually reminiscent of the first 4 games.
I doubt even the eastern devs had what it takes to make a proper SH game at this point. Have you seen Short Message? It was made by a jap studio, and it's a complete trainwreck.

6 months later I've finally found the answer. Half of the people commenting on this Sims 4 strip club mod video have black women selfies as avatars.

Makes sense. Most women, white, mulato, the very rare black I ever knew (in my whole life) that ever played video games, played The Sims - in whatever iteration was available at the time.
can confirm, have 2 sisters, they were obsessed with it

Do you know how did they play it? Whenever I played games such as this was to do wacky adventures like Robbaz does

► Show Spoiler

, yet whenever I see a video of a woman playing it, they seem to just talk and move the camera around.

They chickened out by having him control robots. Should have went the whole way - have him slowly traverse the map in the wheelchair, terrorists deploying stairs to cut off accessibility etc.

the main reason you don't see UIs like baldur's gate or [insert your favorite older game here] anymore is because devs make resolution independent UIs out of pieces that scale. Having a UI that scales to multiple resolutions is just simpler when using basic shapes & colors — think websites.

this is the primary reason for the so-called "looter shooter UI" AKA "destiny UI"
I recall Sawyer talking about how for Pillars they made two UIs - one for 720 and one for 1080.

Pillows is probably one of the few modern counterexamples I can think of, so, I'm not surprised. Now you'd have to make one for 720p(if supporting consoles, at least) all the way up to 4k. Just downscaling the 4k UI assets would cause a lot of graphical issues, even if vector art. Anytime these are changed during development or in patches, you'd need to change the assets at every resolution.

admittedly the one who was more into it got more creative, made weird **** like an inbred redneck family that got abducted by aliens and wanted to see how many generations could be made, naming them alphabetically, also gave them really weird looks like the original dad with giant elephant ears and a massive schnozz

but ye otherwise just a lot of le 'quirky' **** and housebuilding and whatnot

That game was my worst fear come true: Konami just chasing after making every new Silent Hill the next "Silent Hill 2". That "Silent Hill Phenomenon" note in particular was ******* ********.

I recall someone describing the first 4 games (especially 2) as being "lightning in a bottle" type of games: made by the right people, with the right ideas, at the right time.

Old camera angles worked fine. The start of SH1 had some crazy angles when Harry was walking down the alleyways at the beginning, and they worked well. Gave it a unique flair. The over the shoulder stuff was already a thing in Splinter Cell, Freedom Fighters etc. so it was deliberate choice to keep them 'cinematic'. The games compensated with non existent difficulty.

It's called a "Dutch angle", and it's used in movies to create a feeling of uneasiness and tension in the audience. Works just as well in horror games.

I'm ambivalent on the topic of fixed vs over-the-should camera angles when it comes to survival horror games. A fixed camera can and does work, but it's also very challenging to implement well, while a standard over-the-shoulder setup is very difficult to **** up in this day and age. I think a combination of the two - fixed camera when navigating, over-the-shoulder when fighting, could be a good way to make use of both while mitigating common frustrations players have with a fixed camera.

Hello! I wished to ask about a game called something like "Senua Hellblade 2".
A guy I know has the first game on his Steam, and I would like to know if I should warn him about the second one if there are the usual suspects (women everywhere, especially if in positions of power, "representation" and other such ********) in case he might wish to buy it seeing as he seemed interested in the first one (of which I know very little about).

It might not be the best game but I have not seen any woke things. Maybe the others know more tho.

I want to take this opportunity to say that I'm starting to feel weirded out by the obsession modern creators have about glorifying mental illness and insanity.

Not only in videogames but in other mediums, too.
