Games are more fun when you stop cheating.
But what if, by saving and reloading repeatedly, it helps me to better fulfil my ROLE in my ROLE playing game?.
stop cheating you ******
But CHEATING implies that someone is being CHEATED. I don't think the NPCs care one way or the other :smug:

That's just how I play certain games. I wanna get it right on the first try, especially when I don't know if I'll be playing it again after I beat it for the first time. Messing up isn't fun for me

Also, L.A. Noire isn't an rpg. It's just whether you pay close enough attention to what you're doing and can read people well enough

What if I have a specific story in mind, but I decide to take a shortcut by stealing a valuable item that ends up getting me killed or sent down a path I didn't intend?. I should be allowed to reload the save to try again, or simply forego that route altogether. My character is a noble Paladin, but I, the gaymer, need to get gold as efficiently as possible to afford the best equipment. In other words, if savescumming benefits my GAMEPLAY, why would I forego it?.

I don't care how people play the game, just stop trying to design games to "force" people to play some way that you expect. Those forced mechanisms have a habit of screwing people in some circumstances who were not trying to abuse a given system.

It reminds me of the little busy bodies on the Larian forums demanding they implement save scum code on the chests because... Some people might play the game, save scum to get good gear, come back to the forums and complain to Larian that the game is too easy forcing Larian to make the game harder which would hurt the people who play it without save scumming chests. (no seriously, this was an actual argument given)

WTF?

Ok... so "cheat engine", whatcha going to do about it now dipshit? :headbang:

Currently reading through the visual novel trilogy World End Economica, written by Isuna Hasekura, the author of Spice & Wolf (light novel/anime about a wagon trader in fantasy medieval europe and medieval economics). It's about a runaway in a futuristic city on the moon who makes girls cry and day trades stocks on his laptop. It does not have voice acting. I like the transitions/fades between scenes. The music is neat.

Okay but what games are you playing?
I've been playing WoW, preparing my characters for The War Within expansion that launches in a week and a half.

Upon logging in, you are immediately put into a 5 minute long recap cinematic. You get... how many names and terms thrown at you? Dark Titan Sargeras? Colossal blade? Magni Bronzebeard? Speaker? Cries of Azeroth? Mad Titan? N'zoth? Xal'atath? Cursed blade? Old Gods? The Shadowlands? Anduin Wrynn? Domination magics? Primal Dragon Iridikron? Titans? The Dark Heart? Radiant Song? Alleria Windrunner? The Harbinger? The engimatic Locus-Walker? Void Lord Dimensius? And on and on it goes. I felt like I was starting War of Dragons (the 20th season of Pili) on Netflix. Massive info dump of years and years of different storylines. Now I have been following the Warcraft story, but even for me it reeks of a soap opera that has been going on for 20+ years and is near impenetrable to outsiders.

Image

We then get another janky ingame cutscene. For a billion dollar game that charges its millions of players $205 to play per year ($50 box expansions + $15 monthly subscription) and is Blizzard's golden goose, and the Worldsoul Saga that was marketed on the merits of its story to rival the competition, it is disappointing they didn't step up their cutscene game. Come on Blizzard. You're capable of better. Or was. Where did the people who made their hours and hours of in-engine Starcraft 2 cutscenes go?

Image

Then we have the actual event. I had heard about lag, but flying around killing the mobs was pretty smooth, though I had no idea what I was doing. I was supposed to turn stuff in? To what? The pylons? I clicked on the pylons, but the bar at the top of the screen didn't seem to go up, so IDK if I contributed. So I just killed more blue things. Then Onyxia spawned. And then it happened. The lag. Holy crap, I have never experienced that level of lag in WoW before. Literally stuck for 15+ seconds unable to input anything. Trapped. I don't know what is wrong with retail WoW. This wasn't an issue when wagging 100+ player battles during MoP and before, and it isn't an issue when participating in the humongous WvW battles in GW2 or the meta events there where you have a hundred players all fighting a dragon and lots of adds at once. FF14's world bosses have some lag, as in 1 or 2 seconds, not literally 15 seconds of none of my inputs registering!

Image

Once I was finished with the prepatch event, I went and did Shadowlands content to get a two-headed dragon mount for my alliance Pandaren Death Knight, who I might main in the upcoming expansion. Either him or my Tauren paladin main, who I am ambivalent about maining in TWW since the forecast for the next four years of WoW is Alliance themed.

Doesn't make sense. I get what you are saying, but it doesn't make sense with the point I was making.

Don't you think it a bit... well commie/libtard/narciscst/******/fem like to be concerned with how a person plays a single player game?

FFS, reloading was a normal feature in many games up until a certain point and then all of a sudden it is "playing the game wrong"?

Nothing wrong with someone thinking that, but then actively advocating and taking effort to combat this in a game outside of it being an integral part of play.

Lets be honest though, none of this would have been an issue if the ******** people who whined about static loot placement wouldn't have gotten their way... but then, they get their way and precede to ******* whine about people not liking the generic crap of RNG chests and demand that people be forced to accept getting some useless loot after a big boss fight.. "cuz replayable bra!"

In the end, how ******* pathetic does someone have to be to be concerned about what someone does in their own game? On top of that, to be so completely ******** that they don't realize if someone wanted to "cheat" the game, it can be done easily with something like cheat engine.

NM.. I have gone past the two sentence limit for you and your eyes have glossed over.

I am talking about Larian and their stupid RNG loot crap. At first they were going to put in static loot (ala BG2) which would have been awesome having custom loot designed specifically for the encounter and balanced throughout the game.

But... no... we got RNG loot where after a big boss fight, you get gear that is garbage. I played DOS when it first released, and the loot was horrible all through the game. I pretty much ran in odd gear, mix matched the best I could and then later I find that there was a bunch of gear that would have been nice and useful to my builds... but well... MMO single player game RNG system.

**** that...

My point was that these type of "crusader" policing implementations have a tendency to screw honest players and it was one of the things I hated about MMOs and it really annoys me to see this garbage pushed into single player games, especially when you can use cheat engine anyway. It is a waste of development time.

Besides, that is what "iron man" and similar modes are for.

I guess I am just not concerned about someone harming their own game through intentional actions to do so. Design the game to be played a certain way, simple... leave it at that and if some cheater decides to save scum... like I will ever know... or ******* care... I am not concerned about people and how they play their games. That is narcists as can be and wreaks of ***/fems throwing tantrums over someone playing a game without their ***/****** content.

I didn't use a cheat, I complained about the game being **** poor designed with its loot system because it just had to have RNG for the "replay" *******.

DOS would have been so much better with hand crafted and placed loot balanced according to overall progression of play (like BG2) don't you think? MMO designs should not be in single player games.

What they should have done is put in an option to play static placed, the for the people who want to replay, select the option for RNG loot.

Using a save at all is cheating. If you can't win the game without dying, you aren't playing it right.

Reloading because you died is different from reloading because you got an outcome that wasn't optimal, you dip.

Savescumming is cheating.
Using a save at all is cheating. If you can't win the game without dying, you aren't playing it right.
Reloading because you died is different from reloading because you got an outcome that wasn't optimal, you dip.
Nah, you just suck at games Rusty. You telling me you don't start over every game when you die? Sheesh, thought you were old school!

That brings up a good point though. Why allow for a load outside of death anyway then? Why is save scumming conversations, lock picking, etc.. "acceptable", but reloading a **** poor RNG chest not?

Lets demand all games save when people log off (or try to F4 the game) and.. also have it save after every decision action a player makes of things like conversations, lock picking, loot drops, character development, etc...

No going back, all choices are final.

Oh, and no respeccing... that is cheating as well...

(btw, I am all for all of this as it would highlight the crappy loot system the implemented and would make a lot of people advocate for hand placed loot).

none of that is acceptable and you shouldn't be able to reload, I agree.

Don't really know why you thought this was a "gotcha!"

That comment somehow means I cheat?

Please tell me you understand the argument of someone wanting to stop something that is impossible to stop...

By trying to imply because I used the argument to show the flaw in their implementation it means I do it, is... well.. I think you lack the concept of hypothetical arguments. :groan:
