Why this game loves to give **** abilities to players? NPC cryomancers can do a lot of cool stuff which PC Warden can't and NPC Necromancers can raise the dead, PC necros have the worst necromancy ever.

TIPS
Dodge Rolling:
If you dodge once, you get a debuff (made visible via the green effect at your feet) which makes dodges cost 2x more stamina. So rapid succession dodges shouldn't be done, wait til it is gone. Dodging gives you an immobilize immunity for a few seconds.
Enemy Crit Damage:
There is none. Only in PVP do players do crit damage to you. Any gear you own with reduce crit damage is only useful for PVP.
Weapon Sets:
You know that you can use two weapons, but I'm sure you're mainly on your first weapon and the second weapon and skills lag behind. Take a skill from your second weapon and put it in your first weapon bar. Even if you don't use it, it levels both skill and weapon.
Poisons:
They are only really useful if you are a sweatlord. They also override the enchantments on your coated weapon. Most of the time they exist for you to sell and get some nice cash.
Locking gear:
Should be obvious but in case you didn't know. You can right-click your gear and lock it, so you don't sell it by accident.
Leveling Skills:
Another obvious one but in case you didn't know. Hover over the leveling bar of your skill tree and it tells you what actually levels them.
Bookshelves: Go to them every time you see one. There could be lorebooks or something else, that would level your skill trees.
Quests and Directions:
If you don't know where to next, go to your Questlog and select the quest you want to further, and then M, it shows you the location on the map. If you really have no clue what to do, then go to your map and press Zone Guide, this will help you go to the important places and such on each map
Repairing Gear:
Don't go to merchants and buy them (they cost 420 each, that's some jewish scheme) Instead go to a Guild Trader and search for "Grand Repair Kits" they should go for way less gold each.
A few options to change:
Quick Cast Ground Abilities should be ON. Makes it smoother and you press less buttons (think of it as a rhythm game)
Opacity of enemy abilities: Always put it on 100 and Fuchsia. You might think "1 is fine, i can see this" but when your screen is flooded by effects and the ground is colored so that the highlight is indistinguishable you'll thank me since there's no way in hell fuchsia will ever be a floor color.
Dodging Double Tap:
Disable this. I know you dodged off some cliff or some **** because you wanted to precisely stand somewhere but instead rolled off a cliff. Bind it to something else you can easily access.
Loot:
Consolidate auto loot and auto loot should be activated.
Innocents:
If you don't want to accidentally attack an innocent civilian or a guard, go to gameplay and enable "Prevent attacking innocents" It should only be off if you do Quests where you kill people
Respec:
If you want to respec, teleport to Grahtwood specifically Elden Root. There are two shrines there for stats and abilities. It costs gold BUT you can do it for free with your armory. What's armory you say? Go to the Store, write armory and claim the free item, place it in your room (which is also free via a short quest) and there you have the ability to do it for free.
Light attack weaving:
Easy as pie. do a light attack then ability. Repeat ad nauseam.
You need to do this because only light and heavy attacks fill your ultimate.
Free cosmetic ****:
Do Dailies, do the main storylines of each area. They usually give you nice stuff.

Assuming I'm home I'd be down for that! I hit level 50 so I've just been doing questlines I think sound cool like the dark brotherhood.

Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

Thank you  It's too bad it'll be underwhelmingly quick, but even brief jolly cooperation is good in my book.

Congrats! Level 50 is huge; racking up the champion points makes you feel so much more powerful and quick. Plus, they carry across all characters regardless of level, and you can respec them whenever you want. I absolutely recommend the Dark Brotherhood questline especially as a Nightblade, so I'm glad you've already taken an interest, lol. The Blade of Woe ability is so OP when stealthily going through dungeons.

Lvl 50, nice brother. Still contemplating installing lol. Very picky here. I over think too much. Should just join the boys and tank and disregard the game. is there a way to view characters on our acc like WoW and ffXiv did ( armory)? or no way to tell what I have/saved up until I install and get in game.

Unfortunately not. You have to install it to see what you had. Though it has an armory but that's ingame for something different

If we get to ten cool bros in the guild we can use the guild bank feature, so work hard to convince your friends and/or enemies.

Wastes-No-Words

Dragon-Knight

Starting this one fresh as I haven't played since 'vanilla' before talk of expansion was a thing. Don't recall much so it's a 'New Player' feel for me right now for sure. Have some relearning to do, with all the updates and all. Might tinker with keymapping and settings tonight shortly and redo the intro. Long day so not sure. Have to step out so I'll be back shortly and see what I'm in the mood for.

In the meantime, remembered a track I listened to when PvPing with my brother years ago which I thought was fitting:

Beauty. Spinal's "Ya Ha Haa" was what I liked to listened to on a Wotlk Prot War PvPing, the newer one has a couple nice versions with the lyrics. I found one once that was 'lyric light'. "Rumble (Riptor)" is still on a playlist for me right now and the character select was probably my favorite.

Always loved the deep "Ready.." Get into a BG, turn on this track, *toggle Walk*, pace left and right at the entrance gate.

They're mostly useful in pvp and it's worth knowing the ones with multiple effects if you go that route. Best one is usually escapist's poison for the root on enemy and immunity to CC for you, after that it is typically a poison that does double damage or healing absorb.

It also depends on the meta for pvp, if gank/stamblades are popular the poison that prevents them from stealthing pretty much griefs them for free.

Here's some other tips I recall from when I used to play:

I dunno if they give older expansions for free ever or how it goes for ESO Plus subscribers but a good source of easy gold is to get the expansion that has excavations/antiquities. The skill lines are easy to level up within a few hours but you want to do it in a small area so you don't run around a huge zone between leads. Levels 1-5 you prioritize green leads, after that you look for both green/blues until level 7 which unlocks gold leads that you need for finding mythic items which when I last played can be ******** power spikes. But by the end of this you can easily have amassed 200k+ gold just from leveling up and can find purple leads for even more.

Also because ESO has a bit of a ****** player-based economy system with guild vendors it's good to avoid a lot of the main cities since they tend to overprice a ton of stuff. I used a site called Tamriel trade center, lets you search an item you want and finds the lowest price/which town and guild vendor has it. It might have an ingame add on now.

Don't worry about gear when leveling, all of it doesn't matter much on your first character and you want to rush to 160 champion point level as soon as possible since that's when gear stops scaling. Unlike the typical cancer of vertical gear treadmill in other games, ESO does one thing right by having gear be more horizontal so if you had a good set but took a break for five years it's still a good set and you don't feel as far behind other players.

When you do hit 160, only prioritize golding your weapons. Armor golding is more of a **** flex/autistic optimization since the benefits you get are nowhere near as big as you gain from doing more damage with your weapon.

One other tip is to always research traits for crafting, usually the best ones are things like divines (increases mundus stone effects by a percentage), well-fitted (decreases stamina needed for dodge rolls), training (xp gain which is useful for alt leveling/******** on kids in low level pvp), impenetrable (very useful in pvp), and the fact that a lot of crafted sets need a certain number of traits unlocked to even begin using them. Good beginner sets for stam characters to craft are Hunding's Rage, Night Mother's Gaze, and I'd also look into getting Spriggan's Thorns from Bangkorai, it's an overland set so you don't need to do any dungeons/trials. Good beginner sets for mag characters are Julianos, Seducers, and for easy overland sets Mother's Sorrow from Deshaan and Bloodthorn from Glenumbra.

Oh yeah and when leveling up a skill line like blacksmithing, the "see ore/veins better at a distance" is the biggest beginner trap/waste of a point in the game. Not only can you find a ton of these naturally by just going to zones with mountains/lots of rock clusters, but the highest level ore is an extremely bright red you can see from a mile coming.

Unless you are doing it for the RP or making some super specialized niche alt character, Dark Brotherhood skill line is pretty **** and has no real benefits besides blade of woe kill animations, Thieves Guild is okay for the hidden chests and haggling, Undaunted is more of a PVE thing if you do dungeons a lot, Fighters Guild is the most useful by far especially if you pvp since a lot of people go vampire and dawnbreaker absolutely rapes them, and I stopped playing around the time the psychic order or w/e thing came.

And finally if you're an ******* like me you go into the OG endgame areas like Rift at night time and kill off every werewolf/vampire NPC and try to sell your vampire/werewolf STDs to desperate losers and newbs.

I dunno I need to be in a certain mood to do the mmorpg thing again but of the modern ones/"big" mmos, ESO is the only one I can stand to play anymore anyways so chances are I'd return to it and its wonderful three digits worth of space. If you didn't know, you can reduce a lot of that down if you delete all the foreign languages they force you to download, I forget exactly where they store it but you can look it up online easily. I think you free up like 30-40 GBs of space from that alone.

WoW retail is way too gay and has an ugly cartoonish look, FFXIV is one of the shittiest games to ever amass a following (which are probably just freakazoid gooners anyways), what are the other ones? SWTOR? I hate SW. GW2? Always thought it played like cement. ESO is the only one with a chance for me because of the aesthetic being more gritty/darker by comparison of its competition. Classic WoW would be fun if the Blizzard community wasn't severely ******** and arguably the most worthless playerbase congregated in one place. Buying ***** gold to buy items in raids and using 500 consumables each time for a boss with one mechanic. **** that.

Delete the other language folders if you wanna save some space. I saved like 20gb.

"Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online or whatever your game files are locatedDelete the two folders named "Vo_xx" and just keep the one you use"

Wanted to say thank you for making me re-discover this game and give it another try. it has become my go-to game when I feel off alongside Dragon's Dogma 2, where in the past I had Destiny 2 (still miss Io and Asher to this day). It is not a perfect game, and the monetization still is the most egregious I have ever seen, but now that it is free to play it is a game I would recommend to those interested in just killing some time and have some fun, with an added of quests and lots of exploration for those that feel like sticking around and dive deeper into it. Thank you once more, and hope everyone giving it a chance has a great time
As a bonus, they seem to occasionally give the DLCs (the small ones like Dark Brotherhood, Orsinium, etc) for free, so unless you really want one, I would recommend waiting for when (if) they will make it free (the one I know about is the Thieves Guild DLC just this year, which could have been unlocked by just pickpocketing any NPCs and claiming it from the store).

Sorry for double post, wanted to confirm what I believe Finarfin said about this game.
It is true @Vergil, this is the first I see of this sort of thing, but from the shameless dialogue I suspect it won't be the last NPC that is like this.
Image
The character in question is a pirate captain from a side-quest in Grahtwood (Valenwood place with the Elder Tree city, not sure I am typing the names correctly).
Edit: can't kill her, will retry once I will get the means through skills or the likes, but attacks don't work on her if anyone was wondering.

Sorry for double post, wanted to confirm what I believe Finarfin said about this game.
It is true @Vergil, this is the first I see of this sort of thing, but from the shameless dialogue I suspect it won't be the last NPC that is like this.

You can easily tell which NPCs are killable by the way their names are shown. Green is essential, yellow is neutral and killable, red is hostile.
