Say that I want to try and play BG3 once more, with necessary mods (several of which are here) installed - what are the mods recommended apart from NA and BBA/its successor?
I want as clean a D&D game as I can get - WITH a Baldur's Gate that actually looks like a city on the Sword Coast, which is a medieval fantasy setting - not NY/SF in 2024.
Yes, we accept gays and even transfolks, AS LONG as they fit in the story, don't are obnoxious, out of character for the setting, and/or operate in packs like the Ironhand gnomes of the vanilla game. Was even ONE of them heterosexual? How will the clan survive? :scratch:
Also, another reason to put it this way is that it is fun to watch Vergil and some others of the society of "I'm coming out of the closet in 2025, honestly!!" implode. :smug:

To be serious, and to clarify for the "muhhhhhh....smaaaaaaaaaash the gays" snowflakes here, who obviously need some things explained:
I respect OrinEsque's decision (if it has not been changed, which I also respect if that is the case) to leave some of the gay couples and characters as they are in No Alphabets. I am just glad someone has taken on the challenge of fixing aspects of the game that SERIOUSLY needs to be fixed. And I am thankful for loregamer putting together a comprehensive list of mods to be able to enjoy this game. Hopefully, with the release of the official mod tools, maybe we can fix this thing completely, and make it a D&D game and not a 2024 dating sim. Oh, another thing I would like fixed: remove beards from the elves and half elves, and "insert" them on dwarves instead. That includes KT. BBA mostly does this, but I think the version of BBA I run at least (BG3 patch 5 IIRC, Dec 2023 for the time being) does not correct KT.
And finally, pull yourselves together some of you.

"No Alphabets" mod pack ensures that the gender, sexuality and politics of world NPCs match medieval status quo.
It leverages the power of Voice AI to fix 1 major, 4 quest-related and 23+ minor NPCs. Where relevant, everything related to an NPC's identity have been altered i.e. appearance, voice, SFX, subtitles and how other NPCs refer to the target NPC.
Nearly 700 lines have been changed for the Ser Aylin Project alone! Character Creator has been revamped too!

Baldur's Better Aesthetics — Baldur's Gate 3
Makes Baldur's Gate 3 look more like Faerûn as we know it. More Dwarves will have beards, more Duergar will be bald (including the women!), and fewer Githyanki will be sporting big ol' whiskers. You will also notice fewer people from Chult, but more from Calimshan, and there will no longer be ANY Half-Orcs with pink hair. Please note, these changes aren't universal. A couple of Dwarves have assimilated and gone clean-shaven, and a few lore-accurate descendants of Chultan foreigners remain (like the legendary Duke Ulder Ravengard). But you will certainly notice a difference!

This mod gives you different racial options for Wyll. Fesstrom updated it with race based Ravengard now and the true devil form as an addon. He calls it "Contractor Devil Form". You also have a few cosmetic addons like hair colour /eye colour/ hairstyle/ horns/ scar removal.

This mod was created for those that wish to see a more traditional representation of a fictional, high fantasy world that is ostensibly supposed to be 'medieval' in terms of culture and technology. In the past, this has been represented in its most common form as being deeply rooted in medieval Europe and its cultures.

In modern times, efforts to increase 'diversity' and 'representation' have meant that certain elements are included in such games that seem out of place and, for some, take away from the realism and immersion of the setting. Furthermore, such elements often appear to be inserted in a token manner that is distasteful to some, merely serving to put a 'check in the box' to meet diversity quotas of one sort or another.

This mod seeks to return the game to a state as it would have been made in a bygone time, with these 'certain elements' altered (or removed) in order to have the setting fit the more traditional paradigm.

It is hoped that this effort does not cause division, but rather allows people to play the game and enjoy it in the manner in which they choose, free of judgement... as all games and mods should be.

Fallout: New Vegas


Honest Hearts European Tribes — Fallout: New Vegas

The tribals of Zion National Park in Honest Hearts are both made to be the same generic mildly beige, bald and boring peoples with little uniqueness in their actual physical appearance.
This modifies the Deadhorses to appear as fair skinned and blond haired blue eyed nordic people with a pagan viking aesthetic to their body markings instead of the intentionally generic and nondescript of vanilla Deadhorse tribals. Their clothing items have had the green parts changed to a blue color to better reflect their new aesthetic. Follows-Chalk has also been given an altered appearance with his hat now sporting a norse raven decal instead of the "W" of vanilla.
Likewise the Sorrows tribe has been altered to look like pale skinned and redheaded green eyed celts with their tattoo colors altered with additional markings added to the men to further resemble the stereotypical celtic berserker vibe their stark clothing brings to mind. Their clothing has also been altered to be green to better reflect the stereotypical celtic aesthetic.

I have also included an optional download with only the esp to change their phenotypes without any additional alterations to their tattoos or clothing for those who would prefer more ethnic diversity in Zion without the lore unfriendly addition of pagan larp.

I respect OrinEsque's decision (if it has not been changed, which I also respect if that is the case) to leave some of the gay couples and characters as they are in No Alphabets. I am just glad someone has taken on the challenge of fixing aspects of the game that SERIOUSLY needs to be fixed. And I am thankful for loregamer putting together a comprehensive list of mods to be able to enjoy this game. Hopefully, with the release of the official mod tools, maybe we can fix this thing completely, and make it a D&D game and not a 2024 dating sim. Oh, another thing I would like fixed: remove beards from the elves and half elves, and "insert" them on dwarves instead. That includes KT. BBA mostly does this, but I think the version of BBA I run at least (BG3 patch 5 IIRC, Dec 2023 for the time being) does not correct KT.
And finally, pull yourselves together some of you.

The new Aesthetics mod removes beard from Gith & Elves. Adds them on dwarves. Makes duergar bald. And a whole bunch of lore friendly things. Though we are leaving Half Elves with beards. They have human genes after all.
Will things like giving all elves/drow fitting long hair styles also be among those changes? :eyebrows: Or making most of the flaming ****** guards in Baldur's Gate male, so they can actually do their job? :notsureif:

Absolutely. If you saw from the previews I put in the immersive aesthetics thread, I've already implemented subrace and gender specific hairstyles, hair color, skin color, and eye color with my code and @Silver's curated list of racial attributes.

Below: not done yet, nor is it final, because its all assigned randomly, so final product will completely change when I change the seed. Also ugly heads will also change.

I didn't do the previous version very smarty. The short version is that I would have to start from scatch, which I just can't be bothered to do right now. Maybe sometime in the future :scratch:

i can pull out the specific lines that needs changing (for the german file) to the bottom of the file if that helps, with a script :scratch: ?
