The Emperor plot bugs me
Hi
Larian introducing The Emperor as a plot-twist in Baldurs Gate, hurts my D&D brain.
Have over 1000 hours in the game since EA, and finished the game twice. Love the game, but this thing in Act 3, makes me don't wanna play Act 3 at all. The game didn't need that twist.
Could a mod prevent the change from Guardian to Emperor?
And maybe a English AI voice-over for the Emperor dialog?
I don't mind the hovering of the character. I just don't want to see the squid.
In a perfect world, we could have a total remake of this Larian-plot-twist, and insert a D&D demi-god, that Lae'Zel/Gith's hates just as much.
Any thoughts?

Agree. I hated that they implemented The Emperor and revealed that he was Balduran really made me angry. They turned a cool sea-faring man who build one of the most known metropoli - Halfway to Everywhere- into a ******* Ghaik.Maximus wrote: ↑ July 28th, 2024, 08:35Hi

And worst of all, they removed sweet Daisy because I presume she was 1) a female character that was sexual. 2) they wanted a ****** instead seducing your MC. Which is stupid because 2 of the most well known songs are literally about her and the story surrounding you and her. I had hoped that with the new mod tools, this would've been possible but alas Larian (those *******) said it is basically only useful for the stuff we already get from modders. So that big offical modding tool update is a literal nothingburger.

Yeah, Larian claims that they endorse modding, but removed force recompile code in the engine after patch 3 in EA... And the havoc they made from FullRelease Patch 3 to patch 4 to patch 5, was insane.Finarfin wrote: ↑ July 28th, 2024, 14:56Agree. No whitepapir, no guidelines, no insight in engine limitations (and insisting using their own engine), no nothing. Just empty words. The "tools" will be a joke, compared to what gets created pre Patch7.
The Emperor's role is now deep into the lore of D&D, and we'll never get it back. I couldn't understand how WoTC could allow that. Then I saw what Hasbro was doing with WoTC, and D&D is doomed.
If not somebody can "re-creates" that storyline, and insert some known D&D character, so we can re-write history.
They retcon things all the time. See: spellplague and despellplague.

It would require a lot of work. Yes, it's stupid.
Most of the main story was rewritten by that disgusting freak who also wrote the romances, btw. Iirc she was hired after the EA released.

It's good despite it. Act 1 itself is longer than most RPGs.Lord of Riva wrote: ↑ July 28th, 2024, 19:03The story of BG 3 is full on ****, I do not understand how people like it so much.

Spent about 70 hours on each run in EA and did that about 6 times, so Act 1 wasn't bad. On full release it became clear that something poisoned Act 2 and 3.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ July 28th, 2024, 19:05It's good despite it. Act 1 itself is longer than most RPGs.
Yes, a complete re-write of that plot-twist will take time. That's why (in my mind) keeping the Guardian character in Act 3, will be a first (and hopefully easiest) step. A second Guardian in CC for player to create, if keeping your first Guardian was an issue.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.
Reject your retarded-wing political programming and learn to think.

That, and their shoe-horning in of Sarevok (which I redeemed in Ascension) who after what I hear has turned incestous as well eeeeeeevil, and of course the general feel of Baldur's Gate in 15th century DR (which looks more like SF 21st century AD) in act 3 have had me return to NWN1 and 2 instead.Maximus wrote: ↑ July 28th, 2024, 08:35Hi

BG3 after act 1 is ********.
Has anyone looked into the gamefiles, regarding stop the change from your created Guardian to Emperor-model in Act 3?
Since no-one has made a mod for this, I can only guess that it's difficult project. Or limitations in the game-engine? Hard-coded cut-scenes?
I'm getting desperate to play BG3 again, and I can't stand looking at a ghaik in Act 3... I'm fine skipping cinematic scenes.

Never EVER make your Guardian the same sex as your Tav. Ever.
I hate the Antichrist!
I imagine it will have the same issues as trying to turn a Dragonborn into a human-- they don't have the facial animation files recorded for the lines.Maximus wrote: ↑ August 8th, 2024, 21:41Has anyone looked into the gamefiles, regarding stop the change from your created Guardian to Emperor-model in Act 3?

One of the issues with modding bigger budget titles(read: not bethesda), they don't cut corners that make it easy to do these sorts of things.ArcaneLurker wrote: ↑ August 8th, 2024, 22:02I imagine it will have the same issues as trying to turn a Dragonborn into a human-- they don't have the facial animation files recorded for the lines.Maximus wrote: ↑ August 8th, 2024, 21:41Has anyone looked into the gamefiles, regarding stop the change from your created Guardian to Emperor-model in Act 3?

It originally was your dream waifu, there's even two songs still in the game from when it was Daisy.Brother Chad wrote: ↑ August 8th, 2024, 22:31I like how Larian was all "hey, build your dream waifu" and then you find out it's the last attractive character you'll meet in the game, and also it'sBut sucking your **** is still on the table!► Show Spoiler

Daisy is still a mind flayer parasite disguising itself.
