The DevTeam Thinks Of Everything, abbreviated as TDTTOE, is a term used to describe when the NetHack DevTeam anticipated the player getting into an unusual situation, and programmed in special behavior for that case. This means that if you think of doing something "clever" in the game, the DevTeam most likely thought of it too, and the game will produce a realistic but unexpected response.
Post some examples of games doing this, especially games that do it a lot.
In Second Sight you can lock up the guards at the start and they have nearly 2 minutes of conversation related to something most people never did.
Stanley Parable is one that comes to mind. At 2:17:02 the developers were following the stream and trolled everyone live.
but I have met a few that are like this, though the names unfortunately escape me.
LOVE to see Nethack being spoken of by the way! Love that game! <3 Highly recommend it to anyone that has no idea what it might be and is reading this.

There's a cool thing you can see early on, just after starting the game.
You can sneak through a brick walled goblin area and you hear one goblin threaten another about leaving dirty plats in his area.
If you sneak in with a plate and stick it where the goblin complained about, when he sees it he will become furious and go confront the dirty goblin, whereupon he will eventually attack him and they will fight to the death.
Seems this has become far less common recently, presumably because the people making games don't really play them.
In Doom 3, the NPC that gives you your PDA is writing an email on his PC. If you hang around and watch over his shoulders, you can see him write an addendum to the mail where he calls you rude for standing there and watching him type.
In Fallen Aces, when you start the game the protagonist is woken in his apartment by the phone ringing. If, instead of answering the phone, you smash open the window and jump out the protagonist will comment that he feels something suspicious is going on.
Pretty much any game Kojima is involved in. From ice melting in real-time in a glass to other characters calling you on the Codec to talk about actions taken in the game.

considering how much success kojimbo games got, it's a bit of a surprise nobody else seems to have done it
