I think he looks great as is in Amlaith's portrait. Slim guys can have strong jaws, too.

These are great! Thanks for sharing.

I'm not 100% satisfied with the Anevian portrait... if you wanted to take a stab at that, I wouldn't say no. Same sort of thing happened with the Seelie portrait. The original was very obviously AI generated. The current version was significantly edited by an artist and is much better than the original.
I wasn't sure if you needed me to work on the AI image you had made, or if you wanted me to make the changes on the original anevia image. I made the changes on the original image. It was easy to find it in a not so bad resolution on the internet. I don't know, it seemed more... "transgressive" LOL, making the changes to the original image. now, anevian is completely a man :3

Image
BTW, Please Let me know if you would like me to make a similar change to seelah's original image. This way we would have images of changed characters without modifying the base style of the game much. turn it into what it should have been :3
Not your doing since it's based on a portrait that was from Owlcat, but something about the pose the character is in feels very feminine. Or perhaps it's the character's proportions that are off.

I think the overall look is ok but maybe a straighter lean would make him less feminine? Though seeing as the orc lady is his wife ( muscular and tall) it could be fine?

ChatGPT says this when analyzing the image:
Body Proportions: The character's body appears to have a slimmer waist and broader hips, which can be perceived as feminine. Adjusting the waist to be less tapered and the hips to be narrower might help.
Which ironically means the character was drawn as a biological woman

The outfit flares out around the hips so it creates the impression of bigger hips, where as a man would want to make his hips look slimmer to highlight his chest & shoulders more.

I gotta say, I'm not really in agreement with a lot of the criticism here.

@amlaith's edit is great just the way it is. Dude is clearly an extremely talented artist.

The 'lean' is required to show he's leaning up against the wall. Straightening out his posture just makes him look like he's not leaning on the wall at all, and then the rest of his posture looks stupid as a result.

As for hips/waist etc, that's just the nature of stiff armour that needs to be able to move when someone is sitting down. I don't agree that his hips flare out even with this consideration taken into account anyway.

You wanna see hips flaring out? Look at the comparison of the vanilla Anevia to Amlaith's edit:

Image

Personally my only criticism is that the image Amlaith posted isn't high enough resolution and needs to be upscaled. Largest resolution required is 692x1024, where image uploaded was 533x800.

Absolutely it is! And I would have, if he had asked... but he took the initiative to find an online image himself. Kudos for that! But yes, in the future, it would be best to work with an original game asset to begin with.

Also, digging the name change SunsetDrive ;)

Pfft, I'm actually explaining why the AI is picking up on it-- in other words, I can see that he did a good job of reducing the hips to a man's silhouette.

But now that you've said that-- It's actually unnatural, leather armour wouldn't behave that way unless crafted to do so, and it would get in the way of fluid movement. The leather 'faulds' would fall flat against the body rather than curl up/ flare out.

On his left hip it looks to be resting over the **** / equipment rather than curling.
Body looks fine, posture is ok, looks very leant over against the wall, as if sneakily observing. Common to lean a little more in that context.
Presumably a small tweak to the chin and better resolution and it would be fine.

@Dunadan I absolutely love those comparison pictures btw, REALLY helps it set in how awesome the new edits are compared to the original.
Continually blown away at how modders in their spare time (and quickly!) are doing way more HQ work than the original paid professional developers..

 Whatever reason it's like that, that's why the AI says he has big hips.
But usually those kinds of things hang off the belt on the outside of the armour.

I'm especially impressed with the alteration to the foot position, I didn't notice that change before seeing the comparison, but I remember thinking the position was odd in the original.

I was about to respond to all the feedback, but I see that you have analyzed the piece well. The pose looks like this because the man is leaning against the wall. The change in the foot was also with the intention of making him look less feminine, and to fix the strange posture of that foot, whether it was a man or a woman was not correct. On the other hand, I think the posture now looks like he is a confident and relaxed man. I don't see anything feminine about him. Maybe maybe he looks like that because of the predisposition we all have for the original character. His hips were reduced and his shoulders widened... maybe I could widen hisy shoulders more, but right now he already has a typically male body type within the rules of anatomy. The request for a jaw change could also be considered. In fact I have a version with a less prominent jaw, but I decided to widen it at the end before delivering it :).

AI is not infallible. Both generative and text AI make mistakes very often. for now, you can still trust professional humans a little more... FOR NOW lol

good observation, but without the intention of offending the original artist. Several artistic pieces in the game have various errors in anatomy, material handling, proportions ETC. It could be improved, but I didn't want to alter the original piece too much beyond making the required sex changes. It may sound contradictory hahaha, but I wanted to keep the piece as similar to the original, making the pertinent changes, I see it as something like a protest hahaha, stupid things on my part LOL

Yeah, I didn't want to bother, I tried to search for it online but I couldn't find one in good resolution. If you could send me the original image in good resolution by PM I would appreciate it, it is not very difficult to improve the quality if I have the original image.

Change the head and the groin trouser folds (and a little bit more of course).
But, seriously, what the absolute **** is wrong with the people making this shite.

If you do, could you please change the proportions to human female and not a particularly tall Dwarf woman?

It's probably a lot more work, but I find the original displeasing in the various non-golden ratios.

Just as a quick (AI generated) example:

Sort of/not really.

The guy that runs BasedMods informed me that from the outset, BasedMods was intended to be more of an archive of completed mods rather than a host of in-progress mods. He told me to get a hold of him once the mod was "complete" and I expect no further updates, and he'll update the entry then.

But, seriously, what the absolute **** is wrong with the people making this shite.
The woke mind-virus demands that all females look masculine and all males look femenine, because of some imaginary InClUsIvItY ********.

Granted, there are a few manly men like Lann and girly women like Arueshalae, but these are not only the exception but they're also a demonically-tainted creature and actual demoness, on top of that.

I reckon Camelia is the only girly woman on the party who's not a monster, at least not on her looks. And I guess Nenio looks "normal" but that's just half the time. lol

Greybor and Regill are masculine in personality but "manlets" in stature, meanwhile Daeran and Woljiff are physically frail dudes.

And as it was already pointed out, Seelah's official portrait doesn't look femenine at all.

Is almost as if modern game developers will have a slow and agonizing death if they ever put anything traditional in the stuff they make.

Not completely correct. The woke demands the women be ugly, so IRL women don't feel threatened by pixels, and demands White men be emasculated because the people making the garbage hate White men with a genocidal passion.

You have to understand that nothing the left says matters, it's all noise, language is weapon to them. They are wholly driven by narcissism, spite and a genocidal hatred of the White race, Christianity and White civilization. When people point out that leftists and liberals are hypocrites, they are arguing under the assumption that the left has morals or principles to begin with, but this is wrong. The left has no morals, they have no principles, just a burning hatred born of inferiority and spite.

Once you realize your destruction is the sole goal, everything they say or do starts to make sense.

Now that does make sense, considering what I have seen in other places infested with the woke mindset.

What I am a bit curious about, however, is how many of these freaks deluded themselves into thinking they're genuinely doing "the right thing" compared to the ones who are fully aware of the maliciousness of their life ideology and yet still indulge in it.

That being said, none of them deserve any slack regardless of their internal reasoning.

Hey Dunadan, awesome work that you did! Made me stop lurking and show my gratitude. Many thanks!

Some ideas:
For the game, I think you got most of the parts to be wokeless. From an immersion standpoint, I would recommend:
  • Ember 3D model: She is the size of an adult elf, while being described as a child in a way. Decreasing her 3D model size would match her age more. (I did it once in the Toybox, decreasing her size by 20%)
  • Woljif 3D model: Same thing as Ember, the guy is a teenager but has an adult body. Being a bit smaller would work better for the model, and a slimmer model.
  • Arueshalae 3D model: Not sure about this one, but I always had the impression that she looks like the "fat" 3D model, while in her portrait she is fit. Her model would match her portrait more if it was the slim or normal model.
**By the way, how did you make the voices? Do you think that is a good idea to use AI to generate/train the voices that are in-game, so we could generate voice-over for the dialogs missing it for the Companions NPC? (I have little to no experience in modding and AI voice generation, so I have no idea if is worth it to do, or even if that could potentially create trouble with the voice actors... but I have some free time and if someone points me in the right direction, I might give it a try.)

talking about his orc wife. making her more feminine could be an option :v
110% this. For a human to get an orc as a wife, I think you need to look at the orc girl and think "Yeah, I can see this happening," which is not the case, as the orc is too masculine.

The art you did for Anevia is amazing. I think it works to have a tiny bit of feminine "scars" on him, because reading the thread (if my memory does not fail and I don't remember where it was mentioned), it was said that his new story is that he was forced to transition, and then got rescued and was able to restore himself to his original self, so showing some odd parts, I think, works in his favor.
I left my face somewhere.

now another character... trever. With Dunadan's permission and Dunadan's guide I made a version more similar to the 3D model. Besides, I tried to make it look more aggressive.
