Selaco
Selaco
It's a decent game that could've been solid 7 or 8 out of 10, but unfortunately it got few flaws that ruin it, for example:
1. Weapons. It's like they were going for doom eternal's approach with every enemy having weakness to some weapons but the idea was dropped halfway, so you just run around using good guns until you run out of ammo for them, then you have to use bad guns. Some are just useless, like plasma rifle, when i got it late game i thought hell yeah, it's going to be just like classic doom, then i tried it and it just sucks balls, you get 25 shots per mag, with that capacity and it's damage output you'll be lucky to kill two basic goons before needing to reload, while if you use shotgun you can kill 8 mid-tier enemies, what was the design thought behind any of this?
2. The choice of OST is weird, you have this dark dystopian cyberpunk setting, why 90% of music is some whimsical, jazzy, lighthearted beats? It ruins the mood the maps design was going for. If you going to play it, consider turning music volume down to 0 and then search some White Bat Audio mixes, THAT fits perfectly. Example.
3. The secrets. I don't know what the **** is this trend of every boomer-shooter feeling like it has to shove so many into each level, but it needs to die already. If you don't care to search them you won't be at a huge disadvantage since most weapon upgrades are neglectable, i strolled trough the game finding around half of them and considering exactly how i found some of them i don't imagine 100%ing this game without guides would be fun times.
And yeah, apparently lead developer is some dude who likes to pretend he's a woman. Whatever.
But all of this doesn't matter, because the game has ultimate form of entertainment hidden in it - a built-in cookie clicker clone, which is called Burger Flipper. I probably spent more time in it then playing the rest of the game.
All in all, it's a good game with a lot of effort that went into it, but it's too generic. It is very simmilar to Half-life 2 that came out 15 years ago, if you played it you can say that you played Selaco as well. It has physics puzzles (just why, it's not 2005 anymore), it has about the same selection of weapons, fairly similar roster of enemies, etc. The mould was not broken with this one at all.

I'm even more salty at how generic and boring the design is - pretty sure there's an armor in XCOM: EU/EW that looks **** near identical to that.

Selaco has zero intentions to push any sort of narrative. Our stances on things are not going to be reflected in any of our games, ever.
People in the world of Selaco are required to always wear a blue light strap on their clothing because in the case of a power outage, Selaco goes entirely dark so people are mandated to stand out by a light source. That is why there is a ''Wear a light strap!'' sign on the main menu artwork. That explains the 'blue' part of the image. The purple/pink is there because, well, the artist had to use a color.
Everybody who thinks this is resembling a flag is trying to hard to look for reasons to get upset and it's laughable. How we feel about politics or the social aspect of the world is completely besides the point here, that is not what we make games for. We make games for the sake of entertainment and escapism.

The lie here is so transparent.
Light blue is not a reflective colour you cretin. As some one who's worked in management and admin for construction projects High vis jackets are mandatory and what they are supposed to look like is made very strict due to only a handful of colours and materials showing up in the dark. There's a reason High vis jackets always have bright white reflective material. Not light blue and pink with ****** cat ears. If you actually cared about the ******** you just made up, everyone would wear high vis jackets. Maybe with light blue and pink colours. Because that's the internal logic of the setting you've just presented. But they don't. Because you made that crap up on the spot to cover your arse and double down.
Either an artist went over your head and you can't admit a lack of oversight. Or you actively support indulging mentally ill people who want to genitally mutilate themselves.
Either way you're an idiot who's lying. It wouldn't even be a big deal if you just said either way what the actual intent was. It's the fact you're doubling down on such an obviously ******** statement that is getting people to laugh at you.
LMAO the ******* ****** trying to trick people into buying his game.

Yeah that exchange is pretty hilarious. I didn't buy the game tho, my friend Jack, who btw was accused of some sort of ship-robberies in high seas recently, anyway, he gifted it to me. I'd recommend to find a friend like that first if you want to see it yourself, though it might be a punishable crime in your countries, so be careful with that.

Actually, not to defend the "dev" but the guy that responded to him made a mistake, he assumed light-straps as in those that are sewn onto high-vis jackets, but the context points out that the talk was about LED-straps or similar technology. And the game does feature one map where blackout happens so that too checks out.
Still, that's pretty sus choice of collors, someone like me could even come up with a ******-theory that this was done on purpose to make game more discussed, but maybe that would be too far-fetched.

Man, what a dumbass. Instead of being happy that he managed to grab attention of those who (probably) bought his game he's crying that they are all wrong because these demands are popular among those who played it. Those basic features he listed have been in the games for the past 10-15 years, some of them are even in this very engine this game runs on, just turned off. Anyway, all that was listed by him could be added as a toggleable option, so that both his """core audience""" (3 and a half wasted on beer boomers that live inside his head) and everyone else can be happy.

While he shouldn't be a neurotic whiner about it, I think it's good for a dev to stick to his vision and not add these supposedly necessary convenience features. Normalfag opinions are garbage. They demand the things they've been trained to demand and don't even know why.J-12 wrote: ↑ June 5th, 2024, 14:04Anyway, all that was listed by him could be added as a toggleable option, so that both his """core audience""" (3 and a half wasted on beer boomers that live inside his head) and everyone else can be happy.
Talking from a perspective of that he's in a moneymaking business, if exactly these "normalfags" who are paying to him then appeasing them is his goal, simple as.
Besides, like i said, all these changes can be a toggleable options so everyone who was happy with how things are can stay happy.
