But it's full of Africans. French team? all black, German team? Blacks and Arabs, Scandinavian team? Idem, Russia is okay however.

Finished it, not really **** but game can barely count as an RPG, it's more of a dumb linear corridor hack and slash with RPG elements that lasts 12-15 hours includes the dlc. Still much better than both Gothic 3 and Gothic FG

Image

Anyway here's my ranking for all Gothic games and mods that I've played:

Gothic 2 >= The Chronicles Of Myrtana: Archolos > Risen 1 > Gothic 1 > other decent gothic mods (Velaya, Arkona, Intrusion) > Elex 1 >> Risen 2 >>> subpar Gothic mods (Velen, Dirty Swamp) >>>> ArcaniA > Elex 2 = Risen 3 (both are equally tedious) >>> ****** Gothic mod (Golden Gate, this one is especially bad, don't play it) >>>>>>>>> mobile gacha "games" >>>>>> Gothic 3 : poojeet edition >> Gothic 3

I'd never put Risen 1 above Gothic 1 but then again I just haven't been able to get into Risen at all.

What I do miss here is splitting Gothic 2 into vanilla and NotR. Or does it not make a difference in your mind? I personally liked plain G2 just fine but most people would probably say it got way better with the addition.

Gothic 1 is too janky and the later chapters are really bad. I've never played the original Gothic 2 without notr though.

I feel that if you had played Vanilla G2 you'd see that its later chapters are also a good bit weaker by default.

Elex needed more bugfixing, better animations and improved combat system aka a few months of dev to be popular among normies but instead it was instantly abandonned.

With some polishing it easily could have been a mini hit like fnv, yeah. Their patch for it actually added various bugs. PB was a mystery but it's clear the creativity or intelligence there was not coming from the people at the top.

same is true about Risen 1 as well.

Gothic 1's best thing is its setting - the prison colony with all the convicts from all over the kingdom banding together into the various factions. Definitely beats Risen's 'Khorinis 2.0' in terms of originality.

close tie but I found G1's combat way too janky and unresponsive for my taste. Risen is also janky but at least bearable.

I like that the devs poke a little fun at all the people saying "Waaaah, what did they do to the Nameless Hero, why does he look so weird?" by saying "Hey, the Hero ingame doesn't look like the nameless Hero because he just isn't him. You play Nyras here"

The black screen with the text says:
"This Demo is a standalone prequel, which showcases the most important features of the Remake. Please be aware that the game is still in development and thus Bugs and Glitches might occur. The full version of the game will be true to the story, structure and style of the original gothic and ofcourse will tell the Tale of the Nameless Hero"

Looking forward to playing this later.
Keeping in mind that it was created as a demo for a games showcase and from an alpha as well.

Cant say that the UI, maincharacter model (even if temporary why?) or english voices are convincing me. Also the ground looks cluttered with so much rubble and plants which is kinda distracting.

unsurprising considering the original gothic games were designed to be played with both hands on the keyboard

Imagine a group of game developers that all understand goal one is to sell as many games as possible and resist the narcissist scumbag's urge to say "**** those gamers, I am an artist and I will make what I like because it's better and they will just have to learn to appreciate it!".
If you look at the highest grossing games of all time, I can find few in the list that I would say are "great" games.

Money should be a consideration, but it shouldn't drive creative decisions, only budgeting constraints.

Aren't those shity mobile games for the ******** massive money makers?

You're arguing against a strawman, not my words or point.

Predatory usage of gambling psychology to encourage engagement is evil and should not be a motivation, of course.

Better they spend time and money making games people actually enjoy than woke slop.

I didn't mean to argue against your point as it concerns the general examples you are speaking of, more of a point that a lot of gamers demand game play that is counter to actual "game play" (ie mainstream is ********).
