Raiding is that dead ? This lairs sound to me like strike missions from Guild Wars 2
Raids have had flexible size scaling since 5.4. But there are people who do not like rehearsing the same scripted storyline each week over and over. There have been requests for an endgame where you go out in the world and just walk up to and fight a strong enemy with no story script attached. FF11 had Voidwatch which was just that where you and your raid walked into a zone and used an item to spawn a raid boss and fight it, and only your party could hurt it to prevent zerging from trivializing the challenge. This seems to be WoW's version of that, but instead of taking place out in the world it instead takes place in an instance. M+ also had the same issue of people not wanting to do the same story over and over, so we got delves as an alternative (though they don't gear you as far) which have barely any story attached and is just pure gameplay.

FF14 was the one that started the single boss fights thing with their Trials, though that was due to the framework of their book-esque story where it usually did not make sense to make a lot of 2 hour long raids and series of nonstop boss fights. GW2 started doing strikes as a replacement for raids because no 3rd expansion was greenlit and Anet was putting GW2 into managed decline as they pulled developers off to the mobile project, so the remaining devs were not able to make full raids and had to transition to making just the individual boss fights. For WoW these one off boss fights are not a replacement for raids but are in addition to it and provide an alternative for people who don't want to clear trash or go through a 2+ hour long commitment. We already had a single boss raid in this expac and it is pretty popular since you are in for 5-10 minutes and then you are out.

There was a time where getting WarCraft 4 would have been the most hype news ever, but seeing as how I didn't even bother with Diablo IV, I just don't think I can bring myself to care.
I recall I almost accidentally ran out of my local software store with my copy of Diablo II before paying because I was so excited when that release. No big box store had any in stock, so my family just waited in the car for me to check this last store, and then I saw they had it, I grabbed one and was going to go show them.
Yeah, my sentiment more or less. It's so far beyond long gone that I'd rather it just all have ended permanently after WotLK and there was never any new content. That way they could quit while they were winning, and preserve the good memories untainted. With what it is now I find it challenging not to hate the franchise and the company behind that for corrupting and violating a beloved franchise to this extent. Having some WoW or blizzard news leaking through is like having some news on your high school crush leak through, who went on to get into drugs, her parents decided to traffic her but she actually got into it and now is a lot lizard doing quickies for a hit off that crack pipe and posting obscene vids on OF. I guess the part where this analogy falls apart is a franchise has no will of its own unlike a person, but you get the idea.

If they announce WC4, I will probably find out about it months if not years later, and will most likely be disappointed despite having below 0 expectations.

Sounds like they are bringing back something equivalent to Onyxia or Archavon.

A video about setting up a WoW client to play it as a single-player RPG with bots has become really popular in the Russian YT. What do you guys think about this? Is it actually worth it, or is it just a waste of time?

And where do you play? Pirate servers or official?

Patch 12.0.7: Revelations

Omnium Folio questline

We have a new questline where you go to Magister's Terrace with Umbric and Rommath to reactivate the Ominium Folio, a device that the Quel'dorei constructed to use and study individal magicks. Arcane, Light, Fel, Void, etc. Right now only the first chapter/week of the questline is out, so it seems that it will take another four weeks for us to get the whole story.

It is nice to get a questline where Rommath isn't being an obstructionist or denigrating Umbric for once. He's right, but when the writers are just never going to allow Umbric to explode into purple tentacles for tinkering with the Void, it just gets tiring.

It is a little disappointing that Rommath and Umbric only offer you two core runes: fire, or void. You can't pick Light/Fel/Shadow/Nature/etc if it would be more fitting for your character (like me playing a Death Knight). The Void and Fire core runes do not appear to have major mechanical differences (and the Void rune can heal other people, somehow), so I so no reason why they couldn't have just made core runes for the other four magick types.

Naigtal and Val, and Heroic World Difficulty

The rest of the Void Elves team up with Decimus, recruit the Lightfored Draenei and and Demon Hunters, and hop through a portal to the former Legion occupied planets to go kill Ethereal remnants who are looting Legion technology. The planet you go to alternates each week. This week it is Naigtal. (It should switch to Val tomorrow).

You can enter the zone on either normal or heroic difficulty, similar to heroic world difficulty in Legion remix from last year. I went on heroic as a 275 blood DK. It was fun! I tried to duo an elite with another BDK, but we both died. So we had to form a party, recruit more people, lay down a feast and buff up, and even then it was hard with the raid wide damaging AoE orbs, line AoEs, and add reinforcements being summoned in. You can get myth track gear from this, so now you can get the best gear in the game by just doing open world content rather going into instances.

There are so many ways to gear up now (Doing one +10 M+ dungeon per week for Great Vault, Weekly Apex caches, Nightmare difficulty Prey hunts, Bountiful Delves, the Voidforge, Void Assaults, Ritual Sites, and now Heroic difficulty Legion worlds... you can pretty much hit level 90 and skyrocket to max gear now. Best chance to hit 3,400 rating and pick any M+ mount now (it's uncertain if that will ever be offered again).

The new Fire Festival questline was fun. You have to dragonride through the floating Fire Blossoms across Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor while an NPC narrates, and new Tauren music is playing (even when doing the dwarf side questline in the EK?). Elder Sunhorn narrating the great Tauren migration in the past, and their quest to climb Mount Hyjal to appease An'she to stop a drought was neat. (Oddly, there is no mention of the great darkness that they lit bonfires to defend against that was mentioned in the trading post Duskrunner set lore). It is pretty funny that about half of the Tauren questline was about how the Tauren were travelling through Night Elf lands and the hospitality of their hosts, meeting Cenarius and consulting his wisdom, and how their quest saved Winterspring from being melted, etc... but Sunhorn does not sound a peep about the smoking Night Elf tree right over there.

Midsummer - World of Warcraft Midnight Patch 12.0.7 Music

The dwarf one was meh, perhaps due to a combination of an uncharismatic voice actor and there being no real objective for the dwarf wildsages. "And we followed this star to this location, and then followed a star to that location..."
