New Vegas Modlist

New Vegas Modlist
Downloaded a bunch of Wabbajack modlists for FNV. I was extremely unsatisfied. So I'm making us a list
I'm currently trying to get the graphics and UI nice. And I somehow got Enhanced Camera working
Trying to not make the UI too modern. Not sure what made all the text super BIG AND CAPITALIZED in the menus (will fix that), but I like whatever mod made everything customizable

I'll have to make us a custom NVR preset or something. I thought I loved the one I had on, until I went indoors
Apparently there's a NVR plugin that lets you customize the preset based on location, which is pretty neat
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/88451
Also, the head sway is way too much with Enhanced Camera. If I can't turn it off then I'll get rid of it

Here you go. Consider this a beta version since I haven't played around and tested it as much. And I'm not in love with the NVR presetdassi wrote: ↑ May 24th, 2025, 12:03any news on the modpack, it looks great i wanted to replay fnv and im waiting for this to start my playtough
I'm gonna be super busy with irl stuff pretty soon for a good month if you can wait. Otherwise, please go be our beta tester
Make sure to copy __Files Requiring Manual Install to your game folder, and do __BSA Decompressor for better loading time speeds

Haven't tried it yet, but thank you for this, I really appreciate it.
I went through the list quickly and they all seem to be pretty solid picks.
Fallout 4 esque slop

Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

Impressive...
Why would I want to drive a car in FNV though?

How about a mod that lets you ride a mule that can also carry things?
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Driving straight through the Deathclaw quarry is pretty funny
Definitely wouldn't use it for a serious playthrough

The car mod really shows how tiny New Vegas' map really is. Plus the way the content is distributed means you're basically just going to be skipping content. The stuff on the far corners of the map aren't worth going to really let alone getting a car mod to make getting their faster except for like 1-2 exceptions maybe.
It's a little better in Fallout 3 I guess since there's more spread out locations and empty wasteland.
Oh also Fallout New California ironically has a waaaaay better map for car travel than The Frontier. Lots of wide open plains and stretches of unobstructed highway.

There's a Salt Lake Stories mod for NV with a car that allows to travel on the map like in old Fallouts or ATOM RPG. It also allows to store things in it though it's not rideable inside a location.
► Trailer, car travel is at 2:05
I really liked this mod but it teases you too much with locations on the map that never actually unlock.Tadeusz wrote: ↑ May 29th, 2025, 06:16There's a Salt Lake Stories mod for NV with a car that allows to travel on the map like in old Fallouts or ATOM RPG. Was looking over the list in detail and here's a few mods I suggest adding:
And yes, I am now aware that Enhanced Movement makes the sprinting mods obsolete.

Think you forgot to edit this one out
Having Oblivion lockpicking is worse imo

It's okay-ish? Like that Wordle mod for the hacking, it's a more engaging version of the minigame.
I've yet to find a satisfactory way to handle lockpicking and hacking though. I always felt just skipping the minigame if you have the necessary skill defeats the point somewhat.
I don't think the minigames belong in Fallout at all personally.

They don't, not really, but I understand why devs put them in - it's a cheap and easy way to inject a little gameplay variety.Vergil wrote: ↑ May 29th, 2025, 06:33I don't think the minigames belong in Fallout at all personally.
Only minigame of this kind I found somewhat fun was the hacking in DX:HR and DX:MD.
I'm fine with them in other games. For Fallout though it feels like an obligation to be more like Oblivion. The lockpicking minigame is mind numbingly easy (and I'm tired of it after like 4 games using it) and the hacking is pathetically easy to cheese. Just automate it.gerey wrote: ↑ May 29th, 2025, 06:37Only minigame of this kind I found somewhat fun was the hacking in DX:HR and DX:MD.
I do actually like the Oblivion lockpicking mini game btw just not in Fallout. The one for ESO is aight too.

Downloading all these B42 Inject packs is such a pain. Wish they'd put it all in a megapack
Jingle Jangle Jingle
Yeah, it's a chore, doubly so for something like WAP or Physical Objects, I wish they'd consolidate it all into one convenient file.loregamer wrote: ↑ May 29th, 2025, 12:32Downloading all these B42 Inject packs is such a pain. Wish they'd put it all in a megapack
If all these B42 Inject/Interact mods are ESPless and don't break if you don't have the original, I'll just share a megapack after I'm done with the modlist
