Since I am suddenly and mysteriously receiving inquiries concerning the GRR position, I will explain it a little more here.
  • The primary work of a GRR is to work with reviewers to make sure their submissions meet the criteria given here.
  • Secondarily, GRRs work together to create new guidelines and criteria as necessary.
  • GRRs must be highly competent in English, particularly grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
During the editing process, we typically inform reviewers of lacking content and major textual errors that they may correct it themselves while fixing minor errors (typos, incorrect punctuation, etc.) directly. The exact process is left to the GRR; some copy the text to Google Docs and make comments and edits there, while others make edits to the submission post and comments in the thread. We have a loose turn system for deciding who gets which submission, but GRRs are also free to volunteer for particular submissions.

If there are any other questions, feel free to ask.

Don't bother, Rusty steals all the good games for himself.

That's what he does, he steals.

Stealin' Rusty.

I blocked it from memory until now, but I was actually a staff member for one of the major Planet websites of the IGN/Gamerspy network.

Playing games for fun and playing games for work are 2 completely different experiences. It sucked.

I used to want to review games when I was young and full of enthusiasm, I even made a website. But I would be useless at it now. I don't like anything anymore. I love about 1 in a million games and the rest are just in my way.

Don't you need 5 years of similar experience, a PhD in a related subject, and a driving license?

All I can imagine this being like is 6hrs a day trying to answer the questions from 4 different department managers who in actuality are keeping you from doing what it would take for you to be able to answer them (which is play the game) then spend 8 more hours playing a game while skipping most of the interesting stuff just to have a mild amount of familiarity with mechanics a few regurgitated bits of story and STILL never complete the game (but you did go and find a few screen shots of the ending for your review). Then you turn it in and some womxn (always one of those even if they ain't a pink hair) and they kick it back to tell you how they feel it is missing something with zero actual constructive criticism for you to work off of. Then you remember to send it to Jerry (good ole Jerry), and he runs it through a spell check and counts the words (maybe asks for a couple more images) and posts it for you cause as long as it covers the base word count the number of views is all that matters.

And in the end they just ask you to play 6 more 30+ hour long games and have the reviews done by the end of the next week.
