Ultima Adventures - A full featured, content packed offline/online server
A few players of Ruins & Riches by Djeryv have started modifying the world, adding new systems and making major modifications to the map. In order not to take over that resource, we've opted to fork the original odyssey and create Ultima Adventures. Ultima Adventures has everything included in the original Ultima Odyssey, plus more - much much more. Map changes, new content - system changes that seek to enhance the RP element of odyssey, but also make it more suited for multiplayer play with higher level content.

Some features:
- Making the world truly persistent
- Resource Harvester (offline resource gathering and area control mechanic)
- Soulbound playstyle - permadeath
- More immersive dungeon experience
- PvE Gauntlet!
- Adding flavor and immersion to the game
- Making useless skills useful again
- Making cooking worthwhile again

Kinda hijacking, but I was going to post about how it was sad Ruins and Riches got taken down, but then I did some looking. It turns out that the Developer behind it updated around 3 days ago last. So it seems it's alive and well, though kind of hidden for now. It seems that R&R can run on Linux which is my main reason for wanting to get it instead.

So, has anyone tried this version at all?

The last version of Ruins and Riches I played was the one I downloaded right before the website stopped working. I don't know what is happening with that game. I read it's still under development but I didn't see any new statement from the developer the last time I checked.

Yeah, from what I can gather the guy who develops it is pretty secretive and just does the work. No real contact. The only problem is is that I think the changelog can only be accessed in the game itself. Dunno why he didn't just drop a README in the files or something, but oh well.

Notable Changes:
Added a Purchase history option to player vendors.

Added support for bank player vendor npcs. Now you can finally prove that the bank NPC really did buy 500 fish steaks at 3 a.m.

Added on hover: show last restock, and if vendor is empty. Basically, a vendor mood ring.

Added Davies Locker, with a shiny button to view the map right from inside the chest/gump. Pirate roleplay immersion +2.

Added a Vengeful Animal system. Keep killing squirrels and see what happens. Spoiler: it isn’t pretty.

Added thematic overhead messages to track champion spawn progress.

Added a trapped pouch to help break stuns. Because sometimes you just need a little shock therapy.

Noble Sacrifice now works on multiple SoulBound at once.

Noble Sacrifice now also properly sets Caster hp/stam/mana to 1 when ressing SoulBound. Heroism hurts.

Mobs now shout the Mantras when casting spells. No more silent casting—now they’re just really loud LARPers.

Great rucksack refactor

All rucksacks now have 75% weight reduction (including monk ruck).

Monk ruck has been reduced to 50 items, sadly previous owners of the bag now feel like they've been cut in half.

Monk bag now correctly rejects robes and books. Monks don’t read.

Added Hides rucksack. Because leatherworkers were feeling left out.

Changed [loot option to split gems from jewelry. For players who hate multitasking.

Thief quests now actually allow stealing things from dungeons. Revolutionary.

Changed Mirror Image formula to the official OSI formula. Ninjas rejoice.

Re-enabled the Widow Champion spawn and made sure her gate always spawns. Arachnophobia simulator restored.

Leveled items now gain 50% more XP. Training montage intensifies.

Added Reagent Belt to Tailoring Bod rewards. Pocket sand, but make it magical.

Extended Forensic Evaluation to reveal time of death at moderate skill, and list criminal actors at high skill. CSI: Britannia edition.

Improved hidden chest logic so they stop spawning outside of Narnia.

Improved Detect Hidden logic to pull out-of-bound items back into the map. Item purgatory closed.

Added client files for Jedi. You can now properly feel your mitochondria.

Misc Changes:
Changed character creation map to one of the actual UA map. The world now properly renders when looking down from space.

Added a generalized “time to next restock” when player says “restock.” Vendors now double as Alexa.

Widow’s Lament notification is now private overhead, so everyone can panic individually.

Made bats and darkhounds tamable. Who’s a good boy? (Answer: probably not the bat.)

Added Ancient Nightmares, Nightmares, and Dark Unicorns to the dark continent. My Little Pony: Eldritch Edition.

Changed monocle to work while mounted or polymorphed. Distinguished gentlemen everywhere cheer.

Gravedigger now talks about its price. “Can’t bury ya for free, mate.”

The Dye Anything Tub should now actually dye anything. Yes, Steve, even that.

The Dye Anything Tub now costs 50k per use. Beauty isn’t cheap.

Town Crier now randomly shouts useful information. Think of it as RSS feed, but louder.

Gravestones now display their message in the tooltip instead of the name. Headstones are more subtle now.

Reagent bags auto-fill after Soulbound reincarnation.

GameMaster+ can now [save. Hallelujah.

Changed [hide, [immortal, and their sub-commands so you can toggle back and forth. Hide-and-seek made easy.

Added [KillInvasion and [ResetInvasion Admin commands. Pest control at your fingertips.

Added [ResetWorld command. Big red button. Use wisely.

Removed [DocGen command. Nobody liked it anyway.

Auto-display revive gump if player was blocked. “Surprise! Want to live?”

Forged letters can now be transformed with a magical hammer. Officially medieval Photoshop.

Allow dropping horse armor for non-bonded horses. Finally, horse yard sales.

Log when someone other than owner opens a player corpse. Big Brother is watching.

Added player check for corpse opening. Less awkward that way.

Conditionally consume forge charge. Smiths rejoice (or curse).

Added ability to check if an item or static forge is in range.

Rare Metals now require targeting a forge. Hand-wavey smithing disallowed.

Fix required resources for crafting rucksacks:

Material count increased to 50. Packrats weep.
Removed rucksack max weight when secured in Bank Box. Bankers rejoice.

Ignore Staff in PlayerCount. No more ghost population.

Mining now drops Sapphire, Star Sapphire, and Tourmaline.

Expose good/evil champ on Balance Totem in the bank. “Light or dark, pick a side.”

Gift belt and loin cloth are now tailor-repairable. Modesty preserved.

Artist after recieving their grandparents inheritance can now actually afford your paintings.

Old Harvesters are now released so players can pick them up. Orphan Harvester adoption program.

Added banker deed for buying copper.

Implement real validation in SlowAStarAlgorithm.CheckConditio. Now it actually checks things.

Changed sand mining chance from 100–400 to 100–125. You can now make bigger sandcastles!

Changed Ki attack: Time to hit from 2 to 4 seconds. Martial artists have learned to channel their qi longer.

Changed essencebones to require Forensics (110) to identify. Basically investigating cold case files.

Bug Fixes:
Fixed the morphing sets. They should now correctly trigger when equipped regardless of order. More costumes to scare your friends with!

Fixed a bunch of typos. Literacy +1.

Fixed numerous crashes. Less desk-flipping.

Fixed pet dye tub appearance in vendor’s list. Tub catfishing resolved.

Fixed Gauntlet blockers not despawning. Now less like Ikea furniture.

Fixed player vendor list showing wrong location. GPS calibrated.

Fixed new powerscrolls not assigned to shrines. They found religion again.

Moved Power Scroll of Camping activation to Shrine of Strength. Because campers need gains.

Fixed pets not eating the last food item. Even picky eaters must finish their plate.

Prevented teleporter/visual portal desync. Less interdimensional awkwardness.

Fixed champ spawn crashes. Now they can properly kill you instead!

Fixed Legendary Artifact Jewelry breaking. No more “oops, it shattered.”

SoulBound can’t hide when dead. You only got one life!

Stopped healing dead people. Funeral homes rejoice.

Removed ResetPlayer overloads.

Fixed bug where new SoulBound couldn’t be created. Birth restored.

Fixed bug where SoulBound players who refused Avatar got nerfed stats. Democracy is back.

Fixed weight not recalcing when dropping stacks in bags. Math works again.

Fixed weight not recalcing when dropping directly into rucksack. Physics restored.

Rucksacks can no longer be placed in other rucksacks. No more bag-ception.

Fixed SSI (SnakeEssence) not applying for SB. Strike like a Common Death Adder.

Fixed durability price scaling stacking reductions. NPC Bargain bin exploit closed.

Fixed deep mining button gump. Mining UI has risen again.

Ensure Curse Weapon spell removes weapon from tracking when timer expires. Stop haunting swords.

Reset tamed pets’ follower requirements after breeding. Sorry Catholics.

Prevented quadruple breeding charges. No more miracle quintuplets.

Skip cleanup deletion for controlled/random encounter creatures. saves your pet from deletion.

Is it possible to keep an HQ server up to join whenever? No idea how this works.
