Woke Content Detector's Curated List of Games
It wasn't done with malicious intent though, and Valve were clearly taking inspiration from American cinema, so niggers being present is a given.Kowe wrote: ↑ May 2nd, 2024, 21:31Half-Life 1 looks more as an offender in terms of quota than Half-Life 2. There are lots of black scientists scattered over the game, which is unrealistic.
Which also ties into your mention of Resident Evil games, which also had niggers - both RE1 (a STARS members) and RE2 (with Marvin). The franchise also takes heavy inspiration from Hollywood.
If you want to blame something, blame American culture and their worship of the nigger.
I think what separates woke pandering from naive liberal retardation is that the woke Marxist is shoving minorities in your face with the express purpose of angering you and ruining your enjoyment of the game.

Disagree in that the nigs in HL1 are there as AA. They're idiots, stinky lazy bums hired to fill a quote from BlackRock, BlackMesa.Kowe wrote: ↑ May 2nd, 2024, 21:31Looked up the list and found Half-Life 1 & 2 recommended. Half-Life 2 has Eli and lots of resistance fighters and civilians which have darker skin tones. That is more believable.
In HL2, you're led to believe some nigger is a genius (lol) with a teleporting machine. Not only that, his annoying and ugly mulata daughter just tags along you for a good part of the game, where she wasn't welcomed by THIS Gordon Freeman.

That's a war crime. Think of the enemy combatants.

Wartales, posting it here so I can directly quote the posts
Manny V wrote: ↑ May 3rd, 2024, 05:08saw some streams of this a while back, and while it does seem like a fun game to do a bit of cheeky mercenary warband with the bois, ye the woman bullshit drags it down
women mercs, women enemies, women guards, women authority figures and bounty board people or whatever
not to mention the devs, shiro games, made what seemed to be a fun little viking rts game called Northgard, then started ruining it adding foid 'Clan Leaders', including one paid dlc that literally has a fuckin teenage girl somehow leading a clan of vikings to war and shit (of course she has dangerhair)
but ye otherwise it seems aight
Thanks! I'll add it as recommended.

@rusty_shackleford Would you say the DEI in Wartales is subtle or overt?
Without having played the game myself, it's unclear how prevalent this problem is.
I did watch some gameplay footage and even in what little I watched I could tell there was an improbably high number of females in various roles.
But I'm not sure how much of that can be explained by the fantasy setting vs diversity pandering.

I can verify that all mercenaries have a 50/50 gender split, as I decompiled the executable when trying to mod female mercenaries out of the game.Furin wrote: ↑ May 4th, 2024, 12:38@rusty_shackleford Would you say the DEI in Wartales is subtle or overt?

IMO it's overt, women mercenaries — especially in a setting that is very low magic — is just silly.
Here's proof that I decompiled the game(it's written in Haxe using the Hashlink VM): viewtopic.php?p=7686-wartales-released#p7686 Could have sworn I documented that part too, but I can't find it now

I would give this a mild woke rating.
Gender roles feel very random, so you do have a lot of female frontline warriors. There is also a lot of very vague talk about diversity and inclusion, but it stops after dropping those buzzwords. You also got some nigs and danger hairs.
So far, the woke aspect is all cosmetical at least. Quests & Story are OK.
Plus, you can only choose between two genders. No body types, no pronouns or other nonsense.
In the old days, random nameless characters were diverse to make the masses not look like clones, rather than because an agenda was being pushed. They might therefore be overrepresented compared to any realistic demographic, not because anyone consciously chose to overrepresent them, but simply because the game might have had like 5 skintone textures and they were being assigned with rand(int), resulting in a roughly even split.Kowe wrote: ↑ May 2nd, 2024, 21:31Looked up the list and found Half-Life 1 & 2 recommended. Nobody thought much of it back then because it wasn't seen as agenda driven and no thought was actually being given to this notion.

To put it into context:
There are 32 "Not Recommended" games from before 2015, and 4 of those are due to updates added post-2015. Out of a total of 518 not recommended games.

Another non-RPG for the list.
- Protagonist constantly complains about her/his/theirs/xers pronouns, no matter how anyone addresses her
- Protagonist complains about her homophobic father
- A quest to deliver dresses to a man, with the commentary that only real men wear dresses
- A shit tons more I gladly forgot
From the current Humble Choice.

Random Steam review:
Mediterranea Inferno starts with the author saying it’s his reflection on a host of problems and has a long content warning. I don’t know if it’s the author trying to be the voice of a generation, but it comes off that way. The game is about three gay men going on a vacation to reconnect after “the Pandemic” and don’t worry they namecheck COVID.
This one was already mentioned, but it has such a strong right-wing ethos to it. The Emperor is dead, you are the last of his loyal guard, and your sole duty is to enact his final edict, hunt down the traitor lords, kill them, and bring ruin and misery to their people.
I'd classify it as "Informational", though I assume many here will disagree and wish to label it as "Not Recommended" - the game features two lesbian romances, one overt, and the other implied - though both are references in two short, separate scenes. Realistically, the game is far less gay than any of the Mass Effect titles, yet those are labeled as "Informational".
No woke shit whatsoever. Most of the game content is focused on playing as Germany and winning WW2, the game even veering off into alternative history scenarios depending on how well you perform, which can lead to the invasion and subjugation of Perfidious Albion and the Great Satan.
Fun, if somewhat flawed metroidvania. Haven't really noticed any woke shit in it. You play as a young girl guarded by spirits (that grant you both attack and other abilities) on a quest to rid the kingdom of a corruption.
No woke content - several intermission screens let you read funny little stories, like a woman crying her husband went to Syria to fight for the "rebels" and got killed by Assad's forces.

Neither romance is too in-your-face, since the game itself is On the other hand, the game spends a lot of time shitting on the space East Germany and socialism.
"Contains overtly pro-LGBTQ+ messaging. The player character is a lesbian. Features a homosexual relationship between the player character and her girlfriend."
Yeah, but there's other games that are far more woke and in your face with the politcal/dyke stuff, like ME 1,2 and 3, or the piece of shit belowrusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ May 11th, 2024, 20:51If you follow the curator you can see the recommendation on the Steam page."Contains overtly pro-LGBTQ+ messaging. This one was made by a literal troon, and the whole game is screeching about the space patriarchy and how one of the female character was justified in genociding them all.
If we go by the frequency of fag/dyke content, the ME games have far more of it than Signalis, yet they are labeled as "Informational", while Signalis is "Not recommended".

As far as I understand, the list is for exhaustive documentation, not favoritism or rating a game on quality."Contains subtly pro-LGBTQ+ messaging. Homosexual romance options."

I still believe that labeling Signalis as "Not recommended" will dissuade people from playing it, since it heavily implies the dyke romance is a large aspect of the game, which it is not.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ May 11th, 2024, 21:03As far as I understand, the list is for exhaustive documentation, not favoritism or ranking a game on quality.
I genuinely believe any fan of survival horror should give the game a chance.

V Rising has "body type" selection, but I didn't notice anything else 'woke' from playing it for a while.
As an aside, when you visit the dev's website, they seem keen on showing off females to get you interested in their games

One out of about seven scientist skins in HL1 is the black one.Kowe wrote: ↑ May 2nd, 2024, 21:31Looked up the list and found Half-Life 1 & 2 recommended. Hmm, is the first really not woke ? While not as overt as post-2010s in their propaganda, video games and movies had some in the previous decades.
The Resident Evil games should be under Recommended, by the way. Don't think they had any kind of overt woke content if any at all, but maybe I missed something.
As far as I can tell, they just reuse all of the assets throughout the game semi-randomly and so that version just gets used occasionally.
No luck with that, huh?rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ May 4th, 2024, 12:52I decompiled the executable when trying to mod female mercenaries out of the game.
too bad. It really annoys me.
That is correct. My hope has always been that everyone who interacts with this list and is willing to join our effort contributes everything he/she knows about the games he/she has played.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ May 11th, 2024, 21:03As far as I understand, the list is for exhaustive documentation, not favoritism or rating a game on quality.
After all, if you have the knowledge/experience, why not share it with others? We've already had several new members express thanks and share how a particular entry on our list helped him/her.
That is why I am trying to make this list as comprehensive as possible. To help as many people as possible.
@gerey Thanks for the suggestions!
The following are already on the list: House of the Dying Sun, Signalis, Analogue: A Hate Story.
I will look into Signalis further. I was of the impression the lesbian romance was a major part of the story but perhaps I was mistaken.
