we use electronic cash cards a lot. credit and debit cards are not that common.
"electronic cash card" sounds like debit
correct if wrong but to my knowledge debit and credit cards are both what we call credit cards just one pulls in the money instantly and the other one lets you pay it of in rates if you want to (so same card different contracts)

More like a prepaid visa than a bank account.

The most common in North America are:

-Credit Card (go into debt, no interest if paid off within a month, ~30% interest)
-Debit Card (spend currency in your bank account without withdrawing it), apparently called "electronic cash" in Europe, even though it doesn't function at all like cash with regards to portability or anonymity
-Prepaid Cash Card (spend currency to put balance on the card, acts like a universal gift card, can be stolen like cash, mostly used by people who can't get credit cards either due to being young or low credit score)

never noticed the debit on my card. everyone here calls it "ec-card" aka electronic cash card. Might be a debit card then but still does not change the fact that we can not use it on stripe

Electronic cash is a bad name because it does not have the features of cash (portable, anonymous, usable without special machines or electricity, free of fees)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debit_card i just checked this. This looks like the debit cards described there use credit card numbers.

our "ec cash" cards even if they have debit on it do not use those.

What is the difference between a debit card and a girocard?
Girocards and debit cards are both linked to a checking account, and, in contrast to a credit card, funds are deducted immediately at the time of purchase. The girocard was primarily designed for use in physical stores and is not particularly suited for online shopping. Online purchases, plus cash withdrawals and contactless payments abroad are easier to carry out with a debit card than with the girocard. These are only possible with a girocard if it is co-branded with Maestro or Visa.

At the point of sale (POS), smaller businesses often only accept the girocard and not other cards, as merchants are charged higher fees for processing other debit cards — albeit not as high as those charged for credit cards.
This seems needlessly complex.

Just tried to find these European banks via Stripe:

HQ IN GERMANY
Deutsche Bank
Commerzbank
Volksbank

HQ IN AUSTRIA
Erste Bank
Raiffeisen
Bawag

HQ IN FRANCE
BNP Paribas

HQ IN ITALY
UniCredit

HQ IN SWITZERLAND
UBS

HQ IN THE NETHERLANDS
ING DiBa

All of them are the biggest banks in their respective countries. None of them can be found via Stripe.

The only European bank I could find was Citibank (HQ in Ireland), so my guess is Stripe only offers banks with HQs in the USA, UK, Ireland, Australia, NZ and Canada.

As mentioned by someone else in this thread, Amazon Pay can only be used if you create an account via amazon.com (amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.it, etc. doesn't work). And with amazon.com you have the same problem as with Stripe: You cannot add an European bank account.

I also looked into this CashApp option a few months ago. Had a problem with it as well. I can't remember exactly what it was. Either the app can't be downloaded from European app stores, or there are similar problems to those with Stripe and Amazon.com.

So the only option left for Europeans is to pay by credit card.

99.6% of all platinum purchases were by card, germans are the ones that insist upon doing bank transfers
to enable euro bank transfers, I have to do a full photo ID + selfie verification process
