It was the first few and at least 50% of the ones I've met. So jarring I assume it was a political statement of some kind.Rand wrote: β June 21st, 2025, 13:16Are they?J1M wrote: β June 10th, 2025, 03:37Did Vogel ever explain his weird fetish for making all of the blacksmiths in Exile 3 women?
Yes, there's the legacy Exiled ***** Elspeth and Nance (I forget which is the smith and which is the (laughably) tough *****) in Upper Exile.
And there may be one or two others, but the important ones I can remember are all male. Like the ones that can enchant weapons.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

Move Mountains is a cool spell. Just used it to make a hole in a wall to reach a treasure chest.
A shame the rewards for exploring are a little lackluster.

Finally made it to the end of this. I prefer the first half of the game. The caves and the first two plagues are great. One thing I don't like about the finale is how long you go with lots of combat and no way to spend your rapidly accruing skill points.

They really aren't.J1M wrote: β June 26th, 2025, 22:50Move Mountains is a cool spell. Just used it to make a hole in a wall to reach a treasure chest.

There are some important and useful spells you can ONLY find by exploring.
All of the better items and equipment are generally in places you don't even have to go near to finish the game.
The very best items are perfectly hidden.
You are never directed to the best items in the game unless you explore and find the quest givers.
And you can't get the item unless you find the secret quest-giver, then go and do the quest area that does not show up until you are told of it.

The secret rooms and side things you can find by using Firewalk on lava tiles and so on are great. Unlike modern games you feel somewhat smart when you suss them out.Rand wrote: β June 27th, 2025, 04:52They really aren't.J1M wrote: β June 26th, 2025, 22:50Move Mountains is a cool spell. What is lackluster are the items that you find. Breaking into an alien armory at the end of the game and finding an unidentified wave blade? Cool! What is it? A plain Iron Waveblade. Solving the secret quest to obtain the legendary Black Halberd? Let's go! Oh, the damage is worse than a plain steel weapon with a +3 enchant from the store? And its special property is +3 defense? I guess I'll keep it, but it does less damage than the guy dual wielding steel hammers that were purchased in town.

Pachtar's Plate, The Fury Crossbow, and The Ring of Endless Magery are definitely worth getting. As is the recipe for Knowledge Brew.J1M wrote: β June 27th, 2025, 05:03The secret rooms and side things you can find by using Firewalk on lava tiles and so on are great. It's actually easy to fix The Black Halberd's damage if you edit one file (you need to know how to hex edit, though) and it's for your Slith tank, anyway.
If you're dual wielding, you should be using the two Obsidian Axes you can find, at least until you make a Mithral Blade.

Yes.
Where are they? I don't think I ever found one in my playthrough, and I lawn-mowed the entire world map.Rand wrote: β June 27th, 2025, 16:16Pachtar's Plate, The Fury Crossbow, and The Ring of Endless Magery are definitely worth getting. As is the recipe for Knowledge Brew.

I'm sorry, I don't remember. I only had one for the longest time. I was very pleased to find a second.Kalarion wrote: β June 28th, 2025, 17:10Where are they? I believe I found it while exploring the further parts of Kriszan Province. I don't think I bought it at a random goods shop.
I may have found the second somewhere in the strip of the continent north of the Isle of Bigail across past the giants to the east coast, but I have no recollection of where.
I vaguely recall the first as being in a secret area.
Sadly, I only have a near endgame save.

@rusty_shackleford does finishing Avernum 3 count for this one? It's not a close remaster like Geneforge.

I'd say no, it's more of a reinterpretation of the original game than a remake imoCornCake wrote: β November 6th, 2025, 21:44@rusty_shackleford does finishing Avernum 3 count for this one? It's not a close remaster like Geneforge.
