World of Warcraft: Retail, Classic and Private
Arathor is the new Christie Golden fixation, and they really need to stop with the whole group therapy ********.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ January 3rd, 2026, 22:24Only thing he did wrong was his family. Over 1,000 years he only had one child with Alleria. And now his son Arathor is 40 years old but acts like an insecure young teenager like BFA Anduin. Apparently Arathor is going to suck up an entire act of the Midnight levelling questline where you have to watch him get pep talks from mentor figures such as... a Tauren Sunwalker (aka a pagan cow). Instead of his dad. It's a rehash of the Anduin arc we had in Hallowfall in TWW where he needs a pep talk from Faerin.
Hope you like your Sunwalker take on worship be diluted down to the generic Army of the Light instead of An'she as well. Or Eitrigg joining the Sons of Lothar (???) Blizzard writers need to be taken out behind the shed.

She was laid off a couple years ago when Metzen came back.
Blood Ties was released last November by Christie Golden, and is the prequel to Midnight featuring Arathor. https://www.amazon.fr/Blood-Ties-Christ ... 0399594248Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ January 7th, 2026, 00:58She was laid off a couple years ago when Metzen came back.
Ah crap, I'm getting that WoW itch. I only ever played Retail, maybe I should try Classic.
I hate them.
I always have the itch, but I accept that we can never go back (to pre-cata)Bhaalspawn Jr wrote: ↑ January 7th, 2026, 13:57Ah crap, I'm getting that WoW itch. I only ever played Retail, maybe I should try Classic.
Can't we with Classic or a Private server? Or are you saying it's not the same as back then?sheet wrote: ↑ January 7th, 2026, 14:30I always have the itch, but I accept that we can never go back (to pre-cata)Bhaalspawn Jr wrote: ↑ January 7th, 2026, 13:57Ah crap, I'm getting that WoW itch. I tried classic, but it was with an all new group of people. Playing with all foresight to min/max ended up sucking all sense of adventure out of it. Everyone just rushed to 60 to start raiding.
Also, originally I played mage in vanilla, then switched to druid some time in TBC and had fun with it all through Wrath, so I didn't realize how boring druid was in vanilla and that's what I picked this time around.

I play Wrath on private servers, and have never been a fan on minmaxing or powerleveling, but yeah, you're right that it's never going to be the same. Even now it's hard to stop myself looking up **** on wowhead to crosscheck information, or to look at a talent build so i don't pick some ******** **** without realising, so on and so forth. That said i just play solo in it and generally avoid group content and pvp since it's mostly sweaty melvins. Sometimes you'll have some wholesome encounters with people who are just playin the game as it should be, but yea for the most part it'll never have the same magic it used tosheet wrote: ↑ January 7th, 2026, 14:46I tried classic, but it was with an all new group of people. This is my feeling, as well. I still read up on what's going on with the game, but I will never resub because I know that the feeling/experiences I had during Van-MoP won't ever "come back". Gaming culture and the basic "where I am in life" are both so drastically different than 200#-2014 that any attempt to get back into WoW, or bluntly any MMO, would simply be nostalgia-chasing.sheet wrote: ↑ January 7th, 2026, 14:30I always have the itch, but I accept that we can never go back (to pre-cata)Bhaalspawn Jr wrote: ↑ January 7th, 2026, 13:57Ah crap, I'm getting that WoW itch. All that said, I do appreciate that there are people who still enjoy the game/genre.

A controller addon has existed since at least Legion, modelled after FF14's cross hotbar which Yoshi-P didn't patent because he wanted other MMOs to borrow it. I spent several hours trying out the controller before dropping it.DecadeRiptide wrote: ↑ December 20th, 2025, 18:08Can World of Warcraft be played with a controller yet?
The fundamental issue is that WoW is designed around you need to click on stuff in the game world immediately. If you are doing an RBG or a raid boss, you NEED to click on that demonic gateway or click that heroic leap location right now to escape the lethal 2 second boss AoE or enemy players about to CC you and burst you down. If you are doing M+, you NEED to click that mob that is casting a spell and interrupt/stun him right now or else everybody dies. In Neltharus, you NEED to click on that chain in dungeon so that you and your partner can run sprint down the hallway and eviscerate those mobs, because the M+ timer is counting down. And so on.
The game is built so that you need instantaneous precision, which is what a mouse provides. A controller does not provide the instantaneous precision that is required, and FF14 is not designed in such a way that it demands it. FF14 does not have any boss AoEs that you need to leap out of on 2 seconds notice. It does not have any mobs that need to be targetted and interrupted on 2 seconds notice. There are hardly any objects in the dungeons or game world that you need to click on ASAP or it results in a group failure. The time to kill in Crystalline Conflict 5v5 PvP is much longer than in WoW and there is nowhere near as much CC, so it is not as demanding. Etc.
That being said, FF14 has a lot of other controller friendly features that I don't think any WoW addon has. In FF14, you can press the D pad to cycle through the party list and target the correct party member to heal or rez them, and you can also cycle through the list of aggroed enemies to target them. You can target pretty fast with a controller, just not as fast as in WoW with a mouse. But FF14 has no such similar way to let you quickly click on stuff in the world to place an AoE or to hit a lever.
Another thing FF14 has that WoW does not is a camera lock on, which is very nice especially with how bosses or enemy players will move around a lot. WoW does not have camera addons that function as well.

I was just wondering since some service I was using labelled it at having controller support. So I already knew about the mod but was wondering if there was now an official way or something.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ January 10th, 2026, 06:42A controller addon has existed since at least Legion, modelled after FF14's cross hotbar which Yoshi-P didn't patent because he wanted other MMOs to borrow it. So guys i have started wow classic anniversary, which is going to tbc in few weeks, and i would like to say that classic feels completely different than most mmos i have played.Things feel hard and more interesting that GW2 and ESO(I have played only these two mmos for 100+ hours so im comparing it to them).Every zone feels more alive, people always grouping up for the content because its so much harder.Quests that take you across other continents.Im pretty sad rn because from the clips i have seen of wow retail and talk with the guys who im playing with rn,retail is just M+ and raiding simulator, you could solo every open world content and you could be all alone in the world if u want to
i dont know if i could redit or not but ,forgot to add every level feels like actual reward for me,mobs becoming easier to hit, unlocking new spells, equipping new items locked behind levels etc. While in guild wars 2 levels dont really matter. You got a level?GZ you get some item and food.
that looks an awful lot like daylight to me
You guys think Classic will be available two years from now?
New Quel'Thalas stuff would be great, if it wasn't nu-blizz with it's pussy-******-whipped absolute state...
Another incredibly lazy login screen
Friends convinced me to play Burning Crusade anniversary addition with them, actually got really excited for it as Eversong Forest alone is probably one of my top gaming memories ever.
I try to log in and create a blood elf (only reason to play horde) hunter: boom, can't make horde characters on the PvP server. This has been the case now for 3 straight days. I'm not even against faction balance on PvP servers, but holy crap can you at least not make just a single **** one and at least two of them?
Guess this is what I get for giving this feminized ****** ****** company Blizzurd money, I kind of deserve it...
