Are the devs/pubs actually touting this as an RPG or something else? I haven't seen anything RPG related so far.
I guess they are.

guess having a skiltree for what you have to collect blood samples is enough already.
Oh, watching a stream so I missed the 5 seconds that popped up for.

Probably need to wait until the weekend for a better idea but it's not a great start.
It's better than I expected, considering the game has been getting bad press since being (re)announced, and largely rejected by the existing fanbase.

EDIT: Also, and this is hilarious, you apparently can't use guns in the game, but you can use telekinesis to pick up a gun and throw it at an enemy.
Phyre doesn't take them into his own hands but you can use telekinesis, shoot them and when they are empty throw them.
source? Me, since I am playing it right now.

That's even worse.

They couldn't even spare some resources to include gun firing and reloading animations?

A good old man working security during graveyard shift... and you kill him him. No remorse. No thought. No nothing. Just like that.

Probably the worst start of a videogame ever. Trash. Garbage.

It's a game about playing the monster
Vampire is a setting about actively trying not to be a monster, or at the very least holding onto your humanity for as long as possible. Or not, if that's what you choose, but even then reaching zero Humanity is basically game over.

The game opening in this way is the kind of tone-deafness you can expect from shitlib writers. I don't think it's a coincidence the security guard is an old White man.

We can argue in circles if you want, the point of contention here is that the game is railroading you into a stupid direction.

Am I supposed to empathize with this kind of protagonist?

At least in Bloodlines being a monster was a choice you had to actively make.

akshually, they're just following the rules of the tabletop game
A vampire with zero blood points in his system is ravenously hungry and likely in the throes of frenzy.

It has Bloodlines in the title, the expectations is that you'd have a choice.

And yes, I will be holding the game up to the standards established by Bloodlines 1.

Still no loss of Humanity because you kill an innocent person. I'm not asking to stay in the character of the monster that you, allegedly, are. I'm asking to respect the rules of the game.

Technically, you wouldn't lose Humanity if killing innocents was what your character did regularly and was something he or she had become desenthisized to, but then the narrative of the game would need to reflect you playing as a murderous sociopath.

There's no rule saying an Elder can't have high Humanity.

And my point, you dip, is that the character would behave very differently if they had Humanity so low casual murder didn't phase them in the slightest.
