Any revival is very worrisome for me considering the direction The Dead Shall Rise graphic novel took.
For those not in the know, there was a kickstarter campaign for a Soul Reaver prequel graphic novel that HEAVILY nostalgia baited fans with promo materials featuring Raziel and Kain.
However once it came out it mostly revolved around an OC girlboss named Elaleth who is retroactively given importance as Raziel's sister and made the impetus behind multiple massive moments in the games
According to the graphic novel she evolved wings before Raziel, she's the reason he gets wings/shows them to Kain, she's the one who gave Kain the idea to resurrect the Sarafan lieutenants etc

Now, the good news is that every one ******* hated this graphic novel to the point where even the most pig cups trough slop guzzling reddit ghoul is calling it dogshit so in a world that makes sense any follow up will ignore the comic and focus on the media that people actually like.
The bad news is the world is really really ******** so a new Legacy of Kain game will probably be about a bald black lesbian.

So far Blood Omen 1 has really fun combat which is helped by how quick and snappy everything is. I think Defiance could have been the clear winner overall if it just had combos and stuff to learn alongside some enemy variety.
Really sucks it never got a sequel, it could have evolved into something great but it basically just tried to copy DMC1 including the parts that didn't really work that those games ironed out with sequels. Instead Defiance plays more like DMC2.

I think the only change in the remaster is graphical and you can always switch back to the original at the touch of a button. I played a fair amount of the first not realising I wasn't on the remastered graphics.

Pretty big and shocking announcements for the series, first is that Legacy of Kain Defiance will be getting it's own remaster




Biggest take aways are:

- Remastered graphics including new models for characters and upscaled textures
- Ability to toggle the camera to the old fixed camera angles or a new player controlled camera
- New character skins
- Cut content added as playable levels
- A playable demo of the cancelled Dark Prophecy sequel

Even more shocking than the remaster however is that an entirely new game (after 20 years!) was announced as well.



However the monkey paw has curled as it's a 2D pixelslop indie game with western visual novel tier portraits AND for the first time ever the horrible OC from the comic will make her extremely unwanted appearance in a game!
At least the original voice actors for Kain, Raziel and Moebius have been confirmed to return at least...

Those short clips in the trailer really do show how big the gap between old school voice actors and new voice actors is. Elaleth sounds like every single other female voice actor in existence.
Whether it be a game, anime dub, mod etc. voice actors now all have generic "voice actor acting voice". Play the LoK games, Metal Gear Solid, Hitman and the voices are so iconic to the character people freak out when they try to replace them.
Now voice actors are too generic to ever form such a strong association with the character.
