Times you have grinded in video games

Is it grinding to play roguelikes at all? Technically you're doing the same content over and over, though the layout and distribution is different every time.

Is it grinding to play 500 CoD/Battlefield/Destiny pvp matches to unlock the Megagun 4000? Same game mode, different ******* to shoot each time.

It can start to feel grindy once you've become so familiar with every probable configuration of game elements that you have a rote response for each, but the fact that both can still surprise you means it's not a true grind.

I never really felt like I was grinding in original WoW until I got to the endgame, and even then I was having fun 90% of the time.
