It's now on Steam.
1) Is this version on Steam worth it, or should one get this by other means?
2) Is ToEE a very hardcore game? How deep an investment of time is it? KoTC like?
We have a Steam curator now. You should be following it. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44994899-RPGHQ/
Temple of Elemental Evil
Looks like GOG will also be getting the updated version:

Going by the numbers provided by that site, it appears that to 100% the game will require a fairly large amount of time. If you are just going to focus on the main quest though, it seems to be just a bit longer than KoTC.

If you already have a version that can run, there's really no reason to get this one. I've heard a lot of people have trouble with the older one, even with Co8 and/or Temple+ installed, though.

It was also released on the 10th on GOG. The thing that concerns me is that it might have overriden the original exe with this one, because I don't see an option for the older one anymore. If it's there, it's well hidden.

I forget the file path, but on the game's page, look for an extras download of some kind. Remasters, like the infinity games, typically move the og exe to there.
Yeah I did
I'm just never going to uninstall what I already have

Well, now I'm confused because this says it hasn't been released on GOG yet, but their announcement the other day said it was.

Thanks for the offer. I've already downloaded a copy for future preservation just in case.Xenich wrote: ↑ December 12th, 2025, 18:31CheckedAcrux wrote: ↑ December 12th, 2025, 17:38Well, now I'm confused because this says it hasn't been released on GOG yet, but their announcement the other day said it was.

Played this year with zero issues. I'm caught by surprise by this announcement. Hope it's not another nwn2 ee situation where the new version just breaks mods.

I tried to contact them but the emails bounced, idk what their proper contact is
I definitely recommend Temple+, but co8 went into modder's megalomania well over a decade ago and until someone makes a purist version I'd say skip!
Temple+ not only has engine-level fixes but script fixes, I know because I've reported some of them.

****, if only you could select just the fixes on Co8. If only they had like a standard edition and another version with like "new content"? Like "new content edition"? That would be cool, but sadly no such technology exists.

I don't trust them to not have ridiculous changes in the 'standard edition'Eyestabber wrote: ↑ December 18th, 2025, 00:52****, if only you could select just the fixes on Co8. - Re-enablement of the "brothel" map, NPCs, quests, and companions. (The brothel was removed in the late stages of game development.)
wow great, thanks @Eyestabber, just the modpack I needI made a little list of what I could find out about the brothel and its quests... If you have ANY corrections or additions whatsoever, post them and I will add them to this.
1. Reina wouldn't pull her weight, she has attitude problem... Pay off her 500 Gold in debt and she will join you.
2. Jenelda doesn't spread her legs to the customers, but she gets along too well with the other hookers for her to be fired; too good perhaps.... Talk to her and you find out she is a lesbian! Suggest that she service female customers... she likes the idea and asks you to talk it over with the madam, tell the madam and complete the quest.
3. Unlocked when either quest 1 or 2 is complete; The brewmaster's apprentices come in often and wreck the place, and the madam can't afford to keep paying for the repairs... Get mickey to stay the hell out of the brothel.
I had previously killed mickey to get the orb of mona back, so this took care of that quest. (the chump attacked me when I tried to steal his orb, and he was a level 1 weakling)
4?. I am not sure if this is actually a quest. The madam seems to be ill, she is coughing blood. I have absolutely no idea on how to solve this or if its even a quest.
Services:
1. Sleep in the brothel - 50 gold. I think I got it for free (or without it actually asking me if the charge is ok) during the initial dialogues. After you do some quests the dialogues will settle though.
2. Prostitutes:
A. The madam (the best) - 200 gold. I cannot seem to get her after doing the quests.
B. The Leigh Twins: Homa and Fuga (ever man's dream) - 100 gold.
C. Marry and her little lamb (Beastiality) - 50 gold.
D. The iron maiden (S&M) - 50 gold.
E. Jenelda is initially charged for at 50 gold, and isn't complying. Once you do her quest she becomes available to females only for 20 gold as a special deal, its cheaper either because its a special rate for you, or because she is still trying to build up female patronage, its not entirely clear. Alternatively, you can pay 500 gold to get exclusive rights to her. This seems to deepen the relationship between her and the female character involved.
Things of interest:
1. There is no graphical sex, or as far as I know, anything to it. The screen blacks out, time passes, and it comes back exactly as it was before (like the pass time function). Your wallet becomes lighter though.
If anyone got an std, a hooker pregnant, or any other thing to happen, please share it with us. That is, if your character got it in the game, not if you did in real life.
2. If you try to pay for sex with Reina she will pretend to go talk to the madam and just sneak away. You can insist, in which case she pulls a dagger to defend herself and you fight to the death.
3. Marry has a little lamb, which can hire with her... but for some reason the sheep is invisable!
INVESTIGATE:
I am told marry also has a chicken... which costs 20 gold.. I don't know how to get it though. if someone knews, please post.

I did digging into this years ago, much like Wesp and Bloodlines the "basic" patch isn't just that.Eyestabber wrote: ↑ December 18th, 2025, 00:52****, if only you could select just the fixes on Co8.
