The idea that metric is better because of decimal is *********. The optimal imperial unit is often just "one ".
"I want a cup of milk." One cup; one! Not 237 milliliters. A cup is just the right size to quench your thirst, for most things that need milk when cooking, and so forth.

It's because there's so many units for common tasks. Yes, converting between them is more difficult but which do you perform more frequently?

American's use both depending on application. Using metric on machining is important for exactness, framing a house with it is a waste of time.
