That's what a lot of the armor does look like, it's just mordred's looks silly.
Actually, I recall him having armor skins so maybe there's one that isn't silly.

Also, this:

Is⦠almost right, i think. Maybe someone who knows more or wants to research it can look. I believe it was his brother that was the knight wearing the red armor, not him?
But they at least took time to read the various stories and incorporate a bunch of characters from them.

I mean, if we're being true to source, they should look more like this:rusty_shackleford wrote: β July 1st, 2025, 17:09That's what a lot of the armor does look like, it's just mordred's looks silly.

Guns were being used in combat when Le Morte d'Arthur was written. I think we can be a little loose with the accuracy.TKVNC wrote: β July 1st, 2025, 17:32I mean, if we're being true to source, they should look more like this:rusty_shackleford wrote: β July 1st, 2025, 17:09That's what a lot of the armor does look like, it's just mordred's looks silly.

I suppose so. Though there shouldn't be any great helmets in the 1500's.rusty_shackleford wrote: β July 1st, 2025, 17:34Guns were being used in combat when Le Morte d'Arthur was written. I do wish more depictions of the Arthurian myth kept it more historically "accurate", instead of aping Excalibur or the First Knight - and by extension late medieval depictions of Arthur's story.rusty_shackleford wrote: β July 1st, 2025, 17:34Guns were being used in combat when Le Morte d'Arthur was written. It's amazing how often books/movies/games etc. get armor wrong, even when they have access to extensive reference books, as well as the real examples of plate armor, and plenty of experts - both historians and people making modern replicas of armor, they could ask for input.
I also can't fathom why artists constantly have to reinvent the wheel when real plate armor looks cool as ****.
If an autistic Spaniard can do it consistently why can't multibillion corporations with hundreds, if not thousands, of artists on their payroll?

It goes for every period of history too. There is something so pleasing about designs that understand why they are the way they are.
From a gaming perspective, it also helps enormously in relation to immersion; verisimilitude is a powerful thing.

Looking over the screenshots briefly it seems in a similar vein of the Blackguard series?? (Map Node Travel + TB combat on a grid)
Or do you run around like BG3 then snap into grid battles?
How's the story / writing?
Any city exploration?
How's the Loot / Itemization (If any)
Graphics look amazing.

There is actually ONE period of history that has seen a shift towards more historically accurate visual design: Norse/Vikings. Have you noticed how in recent decades, there has been a sharp decline in the ahistorical "horned helmet" Vikings? While they haven't completely vanished yet, a quick search now has them in the minority and that style of helmet is now mostly worn by Dwarves rather then Norse-analogues.TKVNC wrote: β July 1st, 2025, 20:56It goes for every period of history too.
