Alright, if you're going to split the party that far, I'm going to open the next Chapter with two separate game threads.
Only temporarily. It's on you for giving us a side quest to abort a rat fetus or whatever. Who the hell wants that in their backpack anyway?

I dig the map though.
It's not an issue, it's actually very interesting if you want to leave the town and have an wilderness adventure instead of a dungeon delving adventure under the town. You are three already (You, Humbaba and Oyster). The rest can proceed as planned going under the church.

PS: I saw you posting about the Hunter's Lodge, but the only way across the new province is through the Wolf's Maw which is a pass in the mountains. Check the map again - it isn't clear but it's a full mountain range extending hundreds of kilometers to the south. There are undiscovered passes for sure, but it would be an even wilder exploration and certainly even more dangerous with high risk of getting lost unless you have a great tracker and supplies.
D'oh.
@Humbaba got ideas?

The clearest path is through the Wolf's Maw, which is also dangerous but a much more familiar pass. Also, you might find people who want to make the crossing to the southeastern province and want to go in numbers for safety. Or you could just solo it, fighting style.

Mountain Mycea (a pale, fleshy cave fungus that glows faintly in damp)

“Your best bet’s the cliffs east of the Old Orchard Shrine ...or maybe the north face crags near the last outpost before Wolf's Maw. Shaded ledges, damp cracks — it clings low, close to stone. Don’t eat it raw unless you want to see ghosts.”
Did the Olwin mean that Mountain Mycea was poisonous or that it would allow actual spirits to be seen after consumption? There's enough magic going on that I think Stein would have asked him to clarify this detail.

Zollo, sitting at the table with the rat fleshling before him, remembers Ailber's words. It remembers who looks, does it? Zollo grabs the pulsing rat, holds it close to his face and stares into its lifeless black eyes.

"Thou gazest at Zollo, disgraced by Hunkar but by Him not yet forgotten. Thy Witchcraft avails thee none against His Might. See mine Eyes and see them well. Take thee will I to the Witch, who thee covets and then shall fly her Skin in the Wind, so that my King may be pleased."

He puts the rat down and wraps it up again. Seeing and hearing Hrod ask for a map, Zollo waits patiently for his comrade to return with it.

Olwin breaks the silence saying that Zollo has gone from "loud zealot" to "vessel of creeping doom with terrifying hubris."

Hrod watched warily, as did others in disturbed glances and uneasy stares across the common room.
@Irenaeus, @ERYFKRAD & @Humbaba If it is ok with you, I'm going to count Stein amongst those in the inn that witnessed Zollo's declaration to the rat bundle. And he'll attempt to speak with Zollo & Hrod about it before they leave the inn.

There is Mountain Mycea growing across the Wolf's Maw mountain range on the way to Mossbarrow and Flame Root around the Hunter's Lodge area.

@ERYFKRAD, @Humbaba & @Oyster Sauce Stein has the sharp-eyed trait so if he's glimpsed Olwin's map and overheard Hrod asking Ostgar to accompany them to the Hunter's Lodge and Mossbarrow, this may be a good chance for him to join your group on their journey.

Perhaps these townsfolk sealed the village's old well for a rat related reason. I wonder if we could drop something smoking down into the it and drive them top side from there?

And in response to @Gunthard he adds, "Or we could flood their warrens and avoid fighting altogether, should the prospect worry thee."
@Irenaeus Is that a river running to the town or a road on Olwin's map?

I think the closest major water source may be Three Lakes.

That's a road, not river. There are some other minor lakes and small rivers, creeks and and ponds around. Olwin isn't exactly a cartographer, and there are better maps of the region drawn... or to be drawn!

After much deliberation and editing, I have decided that thanks to the increased activity since the last game post, this chapter will actually extend a little - and this is good, because this part of the game has a free form style that is different than dungeon crawling. As you post, I'm seeing significant interest in some of you guys that instead of directly investigating the chapel, maybe you'd trying different strategies about the underground, prepare ring in more detail using the new resources and knowledge found or to be found, or in the case of Hrod and Zollo and their partners, take a completely different quest than staying in the "tutorial" town - you can always come back later! So anyway, I'll be finalizing what I had prepared that involves people that weren't mentioned in their actions in this long game post that was divided. Then, I will change the ending that I was expecting to open it to more scenes and encounters before the group decides to either reunite for a single quest, or as is more likely divide into diverging paths. Post coming up any minute now!

@Irenaeus, do we know what's the policy of local authorities on random unsanctioned glyphs? Do guards or cleric have to investigate them and/or burn the authors?

It certainly isn't looked up by the church as ideal, most of the clerics would like to stamp out any unofficial usage of magic and mysterious ancient constums unaligned with official dogma. However, in this frontier town where the church powers are limited, and with as many pagan traditions still in use ("superstitions") and some magic users going around, relatively speaking, it is tolerated or looked over as long as not being drawn in the open.

I calculate we are only one part left of that large game post to go, dealing with the last characters' actions that haven't been mentioned. Then, we will finally move to the final actions to finally close the chapter - part of the group going to investigate the underground (tunnel delving) and part of the group leaving town to explore the wilderness/travel to Mossbarrow. Am I missing something? What's your ideas and suggestions?

@Irenaeus Seeing as I have been able to read along, which I did not expect to have time for, I wanted to say that, if things do not change on my end, I might be able to join as well to play after all. I do not wish to butt in out of the blue though, and I do believe the party is beautiful the way it already is, but I am avaliable if there is need of another healer, or even just some random encounter or any such things. You may also use my character if it might be of some use for any reason
I have to say I have grown fond of him while I was trying to fit his rolls into a story.

Not only that. All our meatshields fighters had decided to bum off into the forest at night without any magical or healer support only to be surrounded and massacred by rabid squirrels.
Dump int, dump int everywhere.

Only Ryre remains and... I don't remember him at all. Did he drop the game? Was Great Green Prophet sitting on him all the time?

Without fighters we'll either have to delay dungeon delve, put my misfit crew on the front line or put rangers there. And Wolfgang. He has magic shield, his corpse would also do fine.

I vote to delay until the expedition returns. Then we'll pick up everyone who has at least one limb remaining and stick them up front.
Then we'll discover that skaven were a lie all along and the most dangerous thing in that underground is granny's preserves.
In the meantime we can explore the village and local wenches. And since Tallyman's house was fortunately left unguarded, Felix can explore it as well.

@Irenaeus make a character google sheet, pls. At least with char list from here.

The missing Ash-Salt (For camouflage) and Ash Tree Root (For Warding Grease) are both reported to be found around the Quiet Hill. This is in the opposite direction the Mossbarrow group is travelling so perhaps it can be visited on the way back to Vertidor? I get the feeling something dicey is going on up around there with all the blue-white lights at night on the north path by the old orchard...

If the Candlewright has fled with the other merchants an alternative source for bone-meal tallow (For Warding Grease) will need to be found if we're going to try smoking the rats out.
