It's not. It's a gross depiction of pseudo-chinkoid porcelain dolls with jiggling physics added. Nothing about the game is appealing or attractive to me.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:51
Doesn't matter, it's still an appealing game to look at.

Your aesthetic tastes are completely shot, it's unbelievable. If you can't tell why Stellar Blade is more appealing than ******* CONCORD you have no business telling me what's ugly and what isn't. Enjoy your DEI slop, maybe you'll replay Avowed while you're at it.

My issue isn’t sexy characters but people who make it the sole focal point and nothing else. Ask these people what they like about the game other than sex appeal and watch them give non answer or vague responses about is visuals, which last time I check these where same people bitching how AAA games are boring slop that only has pretty visuals as is redeeming aspects.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:43Here we go again with the "sexy women = bad". This game could’ve easily been just another generic, uninspired release lost among the dozens flooding the market each year, if the producers hadn’t made sex appeal the main selling point.
It’s actually insane that we’ve reached a point where promising titillating content can almost guarantee steady revenue. My younger self never would’ve imagined this becoming such a core part of gaming culture. When will this ****** up timeline ever end?
“Hey guys we don’t give a **** about the actual game so long it has T&A to rub one off to. Take that journalist”
******* pathetic.
I’m tired of people treating slightly above mediocre games as the second coming of Christ because it has T&A.
It’s just gives Dev the excuse to do the bare minimum and dangle sex appeal as easy way to get sales with them not attempting the hard work required to make good games.
But Stellar Blade is actually good, it's a solid game that people unironically enjoy aside from the hot babes. It's not ******* Leisure Suit Larry or some porn game on Newgrounds, it's an actual video game where the eye candy is a bonus. WE give attention to it because it's such a shock in an age where 300 lb sheboons are the standard of beauty.

I wouldn’t really call SB a souls-like, to be honest. But it’s a fun game — it plays smoothly, looks great, and gets straight to the point. It’s not trying to be serious or epic; it’s just an enjoyable game with solid mechanics and nice visuals. Honestly, if this had come out on the Xbox 360, no one would have been surprised.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:58I'd rather play a bad hero shooter than a bad Soulslike (assuming that's what SB is, I've never heard a single defender --- wouldn't say the game has "fans" exactly --- describe the gameplay)KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 18:54You're telling me you'd prefer Concord, unironically?. If you segmented mobile & top 10 earners(e.g., Fortnite, GTA Online, various gacha games(mostly mobile), and so forth) you'd probably cut out ~80% of the market right there.

Because many of those AAA turds actually fail to turn a profit.psychic_dream wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 20:55How is gaming "beyond salvageable" when some AAA game budgets exceed the annual budgetary plan of third world countries?
As an example, none of Sony's first party cinematic "games" were actually profitable - they all cost upward of 300 million dollars and Sony can consider themselves lucky if they manage to break even.
What's worse is that all the big studio titles are being outsold by indies that cost a tiny fraction of the AA A budget to develop.
The only reason MicroSoft isn't capitalizing on Sony's ineptitude is that they are even more incompetent.
They were also all banking on the live service craze to last and grow indefinitely, so now they're all stuck with a shitload of very expensive projects launching into overly saturated markets with a shrinking audience. Sony alone was making a dozen live service games, and have canceled all but three - Concord, which was a record-breaking disaster, Fairgames and Marathon, both of which are also poised to be catastrophic failures.
I don't think anything more about Ubisoft's current state needs to be said. Meanwhile, EA is also in deep **** - they seem to have completely lost the ability to make a quality product - all their launches are a disaster, their sport titles aren't selling as well as before, and they've outright said they lack the knowledge and skill to make a Sims 5.
The AAA business model is basically unsustainable long term, these companies can't keep releasing $300 million flops one after another.

I'm considering putting Half Trolls in my mod. There'll likely be several versions, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I'll include both human and elf ears to show that said race can either have a human or elf parent.

PlayStation will need significant restructuring after all of these massive flops and opportunity costs. Astro Bot has been their sole success story throughout the live service era, and it's probably the ONLY game that turned a profit, unless the re-releases of Ghosts of Sushi-mom, Horizon and Days Gone did well but that's doubtful. The next big single player releases from them are Ghost of Yotei and Intergalactic in 2027, and given how badly the trailer was received, and if the rumors are true, it might be Naughty Dog's first genuine flop. The Last of Us 2 was highly divisive yet it turned a profit despite all that, thanks to brand recognition. Intergalactic though will have none of that, at best it'll do half as well and that's not enough when it will be 'even more' expensive to make. Sony has been sinking hundreds of millions of dollars every year and won't even have the chance to recoup it for years to come.gerey wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 23:38Because many of those AAA turds actually fail to turn a profit.psychic_dream wrote: ↑ June 16th, 2025, 20:55How is gaming "beyond salvageable" when some AAA game budgets exceed the annual budgetary plan of third world countries?

How Herman Hulst hasn't been fired for his role in these devastating losses I'll never know.
IIRC the game did well initially, but sales really dropped off sharply once word of mouth informed the internet at large what was really going on with the game.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 17th, 2025, 04:42The Last of Us 2 was highly divisive yet it turned a profit despite all that
All the money and man-hours they've sunk into all those failed live action games, they're never making back. I shudder to think how bad the rest o those projects were when Marathon and Fairgames are the "good" ones out of the bunch.Sony has been sinking hundreds of millions of dollars every year and won't even have the chance to recoup it for years to come.
Also, fun fact, Sony has to deal with their own developers sabotaging each other. They bought Bungie to not just be a developer, but their live service expert, and among the first things Bungie did was kill the TLOU live service game in its crib. It's going to be hilarious if Sony decides to shoah the Bungie leadership before they get the chance to cash in their fat shares.
That's what I ask myself with many people in leadership roles at major corporations, but I guess nepotism and allegiance to Marxism go a long way in securing their seat so long as BlackRock is around to foot the bill. How Herman Hulst hasn't been fired for his role in these devastating losses I'll never know.
I want Sony to triple down on live service games so they can go bankrupt faster.
The game releases in a few months and had it's entire marketing push pulled, unless it gets SHOCKINGLY delayed for a year I can't see it not being Concord-ed. It looks ugly as sin, and plays like any other generic extraction shooter.
I don't think Sony is willing to wait that long. In a few months the stock bonuses Sony agreed upon with the leadership will trigger and they can walk out with shitloads of money, despite having done nothing for Sony. I assume Sony leadership is stacking up on ammunition to get rid of them (much like Bungie leadership got rid of long-time employees) to deny them this.
Having a disastrous Marathon release would probably help Sony in this, since they likely know that regardless of how much they delay the game, there's no salvaging it, so might as well use it to get rid of the Bungie ticks.
Fairgames is another disaster in the making. There's also, shockingly, a Horizon live service game, and an MMO too, in the oven, which I am sure will make Sony billions.
The only thing more hilarious than Sony doubling down on live service slop is if Rockstar delayed GTA VI again, letting Sony sink even deeper in ****.
Microsoft's gaming division is basically chump change to them, Sony doesn't have the kind of money MS does.
I can see Sony using Marathon as a political sacrifice so they can have the excuse they need to gut Bungie, but after investing $3.6 Billion in their business I really don't see the point. What an absolute shitshow all around. If they're seriously still dedicated to shoving live service slop down our throats they can't go bankrupt soon enough. The Big Three are all the "Disneys" of gaming as far as I'm concerned, just a neverending factory of cynical garbage and not a shred of soul to be found.
But on more positive news, there are a ton of Gamecube game decompilations on the way. Pikmin, Pikmin 2 and Animal Crossing are the closest to completion so far, with the two Zeldas behind them. Mario Party 4 was successfully completed about a month ago, but so far no PC port. There isn't even one for Mario Kart 64 yet, or Paper Mario, which has been done for a long time now. On the PS1 side, Silent Hill is starting to move along as is Fatal Frame for the PS2. https://decomp.dev/

Crash course class on the video game market:
There is no one monolithic "Gamer". No group plays all the games.
Imagine there's one big pie chart called "GAMERS"
a slice of this pie is called FOIDS: Made up entirely of femoids, they only play games like Sims and certain farmville-inspired games.
a slice of this pie is called ******: Made up mostly of chinkoids and other various asiatics They only play mobileslop.
a slice of this pie is called KIDS: Made up mostly of late adolescent/teenage boys. They only play ROBLOX, FORTNITE, MINECRAFT, various mobileslop, and so forth.
a slice of this pie is called BROWNOIDS: Made up mostly of hispanix, third worlders, blacks, etc., They largely, but not exclusively, play sportsgames. American ones are the primary consumers of console sportslop.
These are generalizations, there is of course some overlap but we're just glossing over it.
This is well over half of the pie.
"Wait, but who buys the other 98% of games on the market?"
This group is overwhelmingly White males aged 18-49 in western countries. This is the core gamer-with-hard-r market. And developers are completely out of touch with them.
It's not malice insofar that they simply aren't making games for their target audience. Despite being the people who buy the games, the games simply aren't made for them.

You have people that, on average, are this:

Making games for people that, on average, are watching this guy:

(#2 most watched Twitch streamer of the past month, you can see the BROWNOID slice at #1)
(#1 in total hours watched, so, however you feel like sorting it I guess) You'd need to fire entire departments and move studios to new locations to fix the issue. It's easier to just start making mobileslop.

Did gaming once feel like your own secret club, mostly for boys and post graduate white men, and now you feel something dear to you has been taken away? Are you struggling to accept that it’s changed, but still believe gaming is mainly a space for that demographic?
You do realize you had little control over how the industry evolved over the years right? So why hold on to that bitterness?
