Episode 29: Real Human Bean
Dibs

One of the wasters who assaulted us had a special detoxifier kidney. Chuck happily accepts.

A bunch of infected ship chunks rain down. We're gonna ignore them for now.

Tangerine undergoes hulkification surgery. It's looking more and more unlikely that anybody would be able to beat him in a hand to hand fight.

Did he get even bigger?

A big ol' mech cluster deploys on the opposite end of those infected ship parts. There are a bunch of centipedes, which are essentially robot tanks with fuckoff miniguns and incendiary cannons. Run killers.

Both sides are lying dormant for now...

So we decide to rile them up with artillery

A few shells land in the mech base and they aren't happy about it

Another blast to the east wakes up the bugs

Just as keikaku, the walls our own insects set up guide both factions into the middle

They clash and do decent damage to each other

The bugs manage to take out most of the mech chaff, but the strongest remain unharmed on the field. Our mortars are constantly trying to blast the centipedes (which are mechanoids and not insects!)

It's time to engage them directly. Only a few of us have weapons that can put up a fight against these giants. Duke has his autorifle and a few of us have charge rifles with ion ammunition capable of stunning them briefly while shredding them at the same time.

Even with our best armor, these weapon platforms can tear us apart if we're not careful

Feeling a bit nervous about the numbers disadvantage, we hire some very expensive mercs

We pick off the ones we can safely

Then Chuck tosses a smoke grenade for our melee team to rush through and start cutting them up

It goes not-so-great, but makes for a decent distraction while we shoot the last one to death

The mercs didn't even show up on time to be useful, so they're sent to take out the base

GhostCow got blasted badly, losing a lung and very nearly his head also

A good amount of Vitya's bots have been destroyed. While he's unresponsive we can't give them direct orders, which means they like to run around getting shot or bashed. If only he wasn't too selfish to take the most addictive drug in the world

Lungs are a privilege, not a right

The sorry state of our defenses. We had the bugs reinforce what they could with weak bugspit walls before the fight started. Most of our workforce was bots, and we're now without a single construction one.

We've unlocked a higher tier of armor to produce at least.

Setting up a few embrasures that will allow us (and enemies) to fire directly into the courtyard. It's a real pain in the *** whenever pirates drop inside.

With raspy breaths, GhostCow says his vows and is officially married.

A few people had to miss the ceremony. We received a tipoff about a marine helmet being guarded by a herd of angry rhinos.

And since they were out there anyway, the squad pays a visit to a hostile base that's a little too close to our home.

We're greeted with mortar fire. The 81mm isn't that impressive. A shot lands near Duke and he completely ignores it.

Their vanguard gets cut down pretty easily when they rush out of an alleyway

With 4 mortars firing at us all we can do is charge the base and pray

It's gonna feel real good when we get these fuckers

Rusty eats an HE shell and goes down as we reach the town perimeter. It's not life-threatening, but he's out of this fight. Duke grabs him and throws him in a nearby home.

BD peeks around the corner and cuts down the first mortar crew

Then he runs up and does the same to the other

Fin is nearly killed by a uranium slug turret round to the chest. Hoss manages to put a bandaid on his heart and stops him from bleeding out.

Duke checks out the main building and finds a drug lab, full of yayo, go-juice, and a few other stockpiles of random pills.

BD uncovers dozens of shells we could definitely use. It takes us a while to replenish our stock after laying down fire.

He also finds some advanced looking serum autoinjectors

The enemy's own transport pods are used to instantly launch back our wounded and some of the better loot. Hoss, Duke, and BD will have to carry back as much as they can carry on foot. One of their pack turtles was tragically killed by a mortar shell.

Diana is Rugratsmaxing

Boon grabs a healing mech serum that arrived in one of the pods. It can be used to instantly heal a single injury, illness, or infection, no matter how severe. He stabs it directly into Vitya's brain.

The first thing he does when he wakes up is discard his ****** up broken helmet.

We still have one healing serum left, as well as this one. A resurrector mech serum. It does exactly what you'd expect, so long as the corpse isn't too decayed.

And we happen to keep the temperature in our crypt below freezing.

What's the point of voting for a wife when there's no monolith for her to worship!
(IIRC, BD should still have that "get married" aspiration. That's what I do. I'm *** pyring.)
