Learning thief skills is worth the trouble now. Picking pockets nets a bit of xp and some people have a few nice items. Also, you can't pick locks without lockpicking and some chests require advanced skill.

Money is more important so robbing everything is a handy way of getting more cash, plus a few stat boosting potions.

For those who don't know, Baal Netbek is a crazy "Guru" you can find standing out in the swamp near some of the harvesters. He's a "take that" against Joe Nettelbeck, editor of the long gone Power Play magazine in Germany.

The Orc Hammer is a noob cannon in vanilla gothic, but it's rebalanced in modfix to stop people like me from exploiting it.

Robbing the castle is all but impossible without sneaking in modfix, the guards will rush the doors when you open them and they're **** near omnipotent.

Kill a giant bug, become a mage. Also modfix prevents the guard exploit where you can get guard armor and training while the mages wait to give you the ceremony...****.

Now is good as time as any to beat up everyone in the Sect Camp for some extra xp, I already beat up all the rogues and peasants in the New Camp and I stopped by the Old Mine and beat them up too before it collapsed. I can't remember if it's vanilla behavior, but in modfix non guard npcs that are outclassed will try to run away from you, that includes people who previously would have taken you on, not just losers like peasants and diggers. Also, when they see their friends get whupped everyone will give you a wide berth and if you push it, they'll take off.

And here's another, you can buy rune versions of summoning spells. Some of them have been tweaked a bit and you can't kill summoned skeletons for xp.

A lot of dead guards later and I got an ULU-MULU. Also not pictured the devtroll potions of quick healing you find in the New Mine have been changed to be useful, they provide a full heal.

I got Fort Solis from @Cmdr Shepard(Thank you!), I however wasn't aware it's a rather spoopy "game"(To be clear, it's more of an interactive movie) so I'm going thru it slowly. But I've been taking a lot of screenshots. I'm a sucker for worn sci-fi aesthetics.

Fred is a companion, because this mod has companions.

Which means Fred is gonna take a beating meant for me and I'll reap the xp until he messes with something that kills him.

I like Fred, but we'll have to see how well this system works out. There was a goblin skeleton outside too, but I didn't mess with him.
I don't know if you can have more than one companion at a time, I guess I should check. Also when I went to loot the skeleton behind Xardas's tower Fred vanished, probably trying to get to me and getting lost so there's that to consider.

After visiting Lester I bought telekinesis from him, because he sells some stuff in this mod. Also there was a novice rag next to him so I can run around in a loincloth and really basic protection.
The scroll costs 100 gold, but that's money well spent for a spell I'll never actually cast.

I actually like having companions tag along, but they die as easily as I do to tougher things. I've encountered a few other companions, but I haven't tried taking them along yet. There was a slutty looking ***** in the tavern and there's also Mud. I also found a shadowbeast out in the woods who apparently needs some kind of quest done to get him to follow you. I'd like to have my own shadowbeast buddy.

Hail the great white hunter! Actually it doesn't do any more damage than my current bow so I'm not sure why you'd want it other than because it looks really cool. It needs its own ammunition (bullets) which I've only found in one store.
