Seems easier to just play pantheon
Depends on what you want. Pantheon while having EQ flavor is a far distance from EQ level risk vs reward and consequence. It has the basic feel, but too many modern QoLs that detract from a true reward vs consequence system, still enjoyable to an extent, but lacking if you want that real experience. Where Pantheon will shine is after release and IF they put in a real "traditional" ruleset server, but how that is implemented remains to be seen.

I would say those who are more "modern" leaning in terms of design and features, could possibly enjoy Pantheon providing they aren't too "mainstreamed", but for those seeking the true play experience they wanted in EQ, only M&M will provide it. Again, not saying people who want "traditional" won't find enjoyment with Pantheon, but it isn't the same if you seek that specific style and experience.

Both games are fun regardless and with the recent set back for M&M, it just means I get to play a bit of Pantheon to see how things work out with the new content/changes and maybe hope I get into M&M beta or someone throws me a key in the meantime.

They want to add monsters depopping and falling through the world as well as suddenly teleporting on top of you when they can't path to you like the good old days.

If you mean more action vs less action input by the player, yes... I agree. Pantheon is much faster paced when I played it last. So much it became a spam fest of button cycles (it gets much worse as you hit higher levels). It focuses more on player interaction of spells and abilities, while even pushing "timed" reactives both individually and group based that the player has to hit constantly. This makes it much more action focused and spammy, and in many ways reminds me of WoW. Add in that downtime is severely reduced and the game becomes non stop button pounding at times.

M&M being like EQ is slower, focused more on statistical results of player development with limited influence on ability selections and timing. A slower paced game sure, but some like that pacing and it is the point. Fights are longer, endurance based tactics required, the "burn down" approach of action play doesn't work very well.

Like I said, they have similar core engine concepts in play, but drastically depart from each other at a certain point.

We’re still a team of volunteers, and each month that passes has a personal cost.
We’ve added 20 people in various roles since this time last year, with half of that being this year.
Huh? Are they volunteers or are they paid? Why do think their players are so ******** (rhetorical) its obvious the devs are all getting a bit of green.

It truly boggles my mind what ******** they could be adding in half a year that they couldn't have planned for 5 months ago.

They aren't secretive about what they are doing. In fact they have been far more open than any development team that I know of. Have you even looked into the game at all?

Ah, you are ******** then. It explains how you have a lot of opinions on things you know nothing about. I mean, how could you understand anything, your entire understanding of games is following a bouncy ball and arrows while furiously clicking for your little reward.

I kind of wish I haven't taken the PvP invite because I suspect that disqualifies me from getting into the regular beta

I started playing on the pve server yesterday and the game has really improved since I last tried it six months or so ago. I'd say this is pretty much what I've been hoping for. I only wish they had the funds it to delay the game until all the races and classes are released and have their own starting cities

Didn't the recent update allow more cities and classes in preparation for the Oct release? I saw that in a message that even though there was a delay, 2-3 more starter cities opened up and 2 more races?

Without EQ, I doubt WoW would have even found the reason for its existence. Remember, a lot of WoW was an attempt to try and "improve" what it believed EQ failed in, but then... I guess you are the type that thinks milk comes from a store, am I right?

I've given up getting to play before October.
You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

Is there an MMO that you think is not a mistake? Or is it that an MMO "is" the problem?

Too many games to play, not enough time.

I'd dedicate grinding time to breaking out of the PvP gank zones, but I don't really see the point until the game reaches no wipe status.

I picked up Project Gorgon again, somewhat feeling it out on the new server. I think Project Gorgon can last until one of the up and coming games I'm watching decides to come out.

I watched a few videos on Eve Frontier, and I wasn't overly impressed, but I might try to find time to give it a shot soon. The videos I watched were from a previous updates (called cycles in EvE Frontier) didn't seem viable yet, but cycle 6 might have an actual gameplay loop worth considering. Actively monitoring all these games, but Project Gorgon seems like a safe place to drop a few hours until later this year.

Yeah, last time I checked, we're allowed to do that on here. I've never played an MMO that I found very interesting. Many agree with me (though I suppose not here). It's always seemed like a ******* grind to me (especially WoW, holy ****). I get that there's a social component to those games, but that seems to be either completely absent nowadays or so degraded (like many other things now) that it may as well not even exist anymore. Hopefully that helps explain my end.

That said, @Finarfin I apologize for calling you a ******. That was stupid and meaningless on my end.
