Have to admit Metzen's art in the manuals were a nice touch in earlier Blizzard games.

I have to say that it was more than a "nice touch". It was ******* amazing. The Warcraft 2 manual especially is what completely sold me on Warcraft, back in the day, even though I had previously played Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. It's just full of cool worldbuilding and snippets of information and evocative art.

I don't have any memory of that from the Warcraft 2 manuals, at least. I never had the first one, because I assume that the game was pirated. There were half-orcs, though; before WoW-era retcons, Garona Halforcen was always implied to be half-human/half-orc, and there was no such thing as amicable relations.
