Having to restart the game to get another "grace period" without stuttering is a dead giveaway for a memory leak because the OS frees the memory when the program closes. You should check the game's memory usage in task manager to diagnose.

That's a good idea. I'll see if memory use increases next time. That said, it seems a lot of people are running into this. Talked to a few randoms and they're seeing it too. If the freeze is long enough it will crash the game.

Just got done with an evening playing. We had no problems at all for the first 7 missions. All on hard, all bots. 8th mission: suddenly lag/sound/freeze bugs started again. Checked memory usage and it wasn't increased. No idea what's causing it at this point.

Buuuut... quit and restarted the game: no problem on 9th mission. Best we can figure is if it shows up. Stop after that mission (provided it's not so bad you crash) and then restart the game.

On another note, partially thanks to doing easy missions with that arrow mod, I now have so many SC's I don't have anything left I want. They have one warbond with orange skins. ORANGE. What lunatic thought orange was a good idea!? And then I remind myself: Swedish. Nevermind. They're always insane.

Tried turning off crossplay, just had a series of games with randoms without any sound/bug issues. Something to try at least.

Turns out most randoms are **** after all. And to think the last time I did randoms I had such a positive opinion of it. Oh well, I'm now only doing private from now on.

@Nessa I see you did your own research on it and Finarfin also added information, but, even if just for posterity's sake, I wanted to confirm to you that I do not lag in the least with the swarm/insect guys, bots only on the very high difficulties, and the cult guys at every turn if I am in a city area during the day or if the sun is around (at least that I noticed). I wanted to let you know sooner but I kept forgetting to, do forgive the so long delay

Seriously tho, I don't like the unrealistic armor where you can just stick a sword through the ribs and the female pc going around in bikini armor should die due to it. Same goes for male pc going around with skimpy armor, but it's rarely that way. Not every female character needs to look like a run away model while going around killing enemies, there is a time and place for that. Disclaimer btw, this is just my opinion and I just use mods if I'm turned off too much by the unrealistic armor in games. I sometimes like to make my pc look like a pretty girl or boy, but usually I like to run with a realistic armor. Tho if it's planned for women to go around looking like run away models all the time, at least it should be made equal. Let male characters have skimpy armors too, please.

Tbh it's just male and skinny male, with maybe 3-6 armor sets passing as female, and a few outright broken (as in visible seams/deformities). Brawny appears to be generally what is their default is and all armor is made for it, lean seems to be mostly an afterthought/done by a script/an intern. And no, I'm not talking about exaggerated shapes, just very basic sane differences.

I rarely fight the illuminati or whatever they are as they are so much more difficult. So I can't speak for them. (I prefer their look though. Minus the zombies. But they are mean with a full squad, alone? Yeah, no. )

Give it some time and practice and you will be able to bring DEMOCRACY to those scum as well, alone or in a team!

I did hear about the rumored (and in game files) clan system. Now THAT sounds interesting. Especially if you get your own station and everything. Also really liked that idea about a bot that follows you or a stratagem for SEAF troops. Since I'm only playing with friends now, having some NPC backup would be great when we can't cobble together 4 helldivers.

Armor is cool, but I would've preferred if it was light.

I only use two armors now anyway. Street Scout whatever (extra ammo) and whatever the light stealth armor is. (I can't be expected to remember their deranged naming schemes.) Mainly due to mods. Without them all armors look the same anyway. Bland. Boring. Beige in some cases. Dumb.

So I have the two girl armors for those two and use other mods so everyone else doesn't look like a bland Swede doodling bad armor while working at Starbucks in LA.

This has to be their worst patch yet. The game is crashing consoles and completely freezing PCs. Mapgen is utterly ******; inaccessible objectives, bug holes under terrain, water where it shouldn't be, etc.
Meanwhile, that Iranian ****** Shams keeps repeating that they aren't going to do a performance focused patch and are gonna keep pumping out warbonds instead.

The speargun is surprisingly fun. Didn't think it would be so spammable. I will add it to the list of support weapons that are cool but I will never use again because I like being able to kill heavies.
