More on the stupid player theory. There are streamers playing this on STORY difficulty, without shame.

Then they still fail over and over. Like falling from heights. (Who would have thought that a 200 foot drop from a crane was deadly.)

"Wha-What happened." Reload. Walk off cliff again. Reload. "I dunno what happening. Silly game. This must be those bugs ppl talk about."

Walk into radiation, screen goes beepy and full of white noise...keep going...die...RELOAD. Does this 3X in a row... "I dunno what happening. Silly game. This must be those bugs ppl talk about."

Miss 2 out of 3 shots with a shotgun, complain about bugs and difficulty. Clear from stream they are aiming wrong. "How did that miss? This must be those bugs ppl talk about."

But...all these same streamers just WHUP Dark Souls.

Hmm.

Could it be that Dark Souls is actually an easy game, once you guess or read the meta? Could it be?

I think 95% of current streamers would have gotten REKT on Unreal Tournament or Wolfenstein ET. They suck.

What happened? How do ppl play E-sports well but suck at ordinary vanilla FPS?
Can confirm. I played a lot of Helldivers II.
Some of us got special forces level good, fast, but there is a large contingent that just stumble around picnic maps and keep dying to nuisance mobs.
They NEVER got any better. And 2/3 of streamers were in the latter category.

You have to think, learn why the AI does what it does, and always be calculating moment by moment where to go, how to go, when to go, and then keep your head on a swivel for something unexpected and be ready to bug out and reposition.
And what do they do? Beeline the listed objective with zero thought to approach, then die repeatedly by the mobs and reinforcements.
Would have been easier to sneak in and blow the one thing in the place from medium range, but no.
And they won't stick together, either.
They run alone to an objective that alerts enemies instead of waiting one minute for others to catch up and assist.
Imbeciles. Playing well takes brains and daring, but they haven't got it.
You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

We’re very sorry to hear that the A-life system didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how crucial a dynamic and living world is to the series and will continue working on improving this system. Regarding the combat system and AI behavior, our technical team is actively addressing these issues.

I was actually tempting to get a month subscription for both gamepass and geforce now for both this and KCD 2, and this is said from someone who has never ever paid for a game since 2005. Probably not though, hoholker 2 looks like crap that not even worth for free. and my ancient PC might be able to run KCD 2 since it uses the same engine.

Please be clear: I am not talking about bugs or crashes, I am only talking about the ability to run at 60fps or better at all times when the engine could not accomplish that solid 60+ framerate upon release due to poor/nonexistent optimization.
Bugs and optimization were issues on release. I recently played about a dozen or so hours of the game and experienced no frame drops, even with the same hardware from 2020. From what I've read online and confirmed with several of my friends, most of whom played a lot more me, the game seems to be better optimized and performing better than it did four years ago.

reminds me of woketrash77 and bit of gta, plastic shallow worlds with no memory and no immersion.
but they usually wait there for player to turn back to spawn point at least

I can sort of guess what the issues are, looking at the bugs. Same as 2077.

1. Memory gets full randomly and it will randomly not update tracking state temp data, like you can't save if your hd is just full. In this case, it tries, fails, and resets it. Bing spawn over and over...

2. The devs don't see these bugs before release for a simple reason. They are using basically servers and workstations to make stuff. You have more cores. But.....know what else you have more of? Compared to the players...

Memory.

So they don't notice memory issues until game is out.

GOLDEN RULE: Every dev has a power pc and a **** pc, but nothing in between. They can't test on their **** machine, because too ****. Their good machine is too good. Makes certain bugs invisible to devs.

Test: If this is worse on consoles, probably this...

Example: I use 32 cores for a while now, but almost no player still has that kind of system, years later, even if GPU was upgraded.

It's just checking if a spawn area is outside the player's line of sight and spawning enemies there if so.

"It's just checking if a spawn area is outside the player's line of sight and spawning enemies there if so." If so, that's crappy design though.

Edit. Yeah. If they're just doing that they need to ditch it in a patch. It's a **** design pattern, for consoles. (They won't load far areas and can't just spawn respawning enemies far away at fixed points, like behind a hill.)

If this wasn't SLAVA UKRAINI: THE GAME!!!, then it would have a 50% score on Steam right now from what I've seen.

I dunno, game looks mostly fine, except for some glitches that get fixed within a month.

I liked the 2007 one when it came out. Even on release, seemed good.

Probably because luck with bugs and maxed out systems in every such case, plus always was fine with 35 FPS.

The only one that had fatal bugs that annoyed me, when it came out, was the middle game, Clear Sky. I ragequit that one several times.

Edit. I don't (Edit Edit. think) mods ever quite fixed Clear Sky. Ppl modded mostly Soc and CoP to be perfect.

Agreed, if it's LOS based they have to change it. Or just disable it, pick 20 points in the world as fixed spawns, where players can't go but can clearly see as traversable, like behind radiation that is quietly turned off for NPC. Bandits periodically come over the hill every hour or so.......just walk down.....can't farm 'em because the hill is irradiated. Dogs run over to eat bodies every 2 hours. Fixed?

I think it does (unless my memory is totally wrong here) and I recall Gothic 3 might also have tried to do map roaming AI,

Yes, sort of.
It does not do player proximity spawns like you see in 2, here. (unless it's a scripted set-piece).
It does the exact opposite.

All this is for while the player is in a zone map. It's different on maps the player is not present on, and seems to not happen at all on maps where the player has never been.

The Alife system has points, usually the same entry and exit points the player has, to spawn stuff in. (There are other points in places like the "dungeons".)
When working properly, the system tracks the level of NPC actors (human and animal and mutant) on the map and after it dips below a threshold, it starts running a timer.
Points accrue every tick and the game rolls to see if it can spawn in new actors, with the chance increasing as time passes and decreasing as more actors spawn.
And it will not do it if the player is in sight, or even fairly far away form the spawn point.

There are fixed spawnlists, like Morrowind, Oblivion, etc, and the new spawns are targeted at a waypoint that makes sense for what is spawned.
The spawns travel there and you can encounter them en-route.

Also, most mobs always have a small chance to go do something else on the map, either individually or as a group.
Sometimes they're directed at the player or enemy mobs.

It was not well optimized on release, but I hear it's quite well tuned now by the community mods.

My experience is the exact opposite.
Stuff never moves from their assigned spot/zones unless in reaction to the player, and never respawns unless scripted to, usually only on act changes.
