This game actually looks really good.

I hate how people are trashing games before they've even played them. It doesn't even look like any other game that's come out recently which people should be happy about.

I think it looks great, the Devs clearly put a lot of hard work into the game and I hope they are proud of what they have made. I'll be giving it a go later and leaving a positive review to show my support, and I think any non-******** person should as well.

I'm sick of hero shooter slop.
I'm starting to miss the modern military shooter fad back in 2010 now, most of those were sloppa as well, but at least those weren't cringe.

Military shooters at several key advantages:

1. The setting was grounded in something familiar to the user.

2. The characters/factions were understandable.

3. The reason for the fighting made sense.

This? Has none of these. What is this place? Who are these people? Why are they fighting? I have no clue.

As far as I can tell, the only hero shooter since release Overwatch that has tried to look aesthetically pleasing is Marvel Rivals. They like to say the market is oversaturated, but almost nobody's really competing!

Been playing it a bit and it's actually amazing.

If you think it is bad then you just don't know what you are on about.

Overwhelmingly Negative - 18% of the 4,940 user reviews for this game are positive
I"ll like to point out that Geoff Keighely decided to destroy whatever reputation he and the Game Awards still had by advertising the hell out of this game as the "next big thing". Hopefully now nobody will take him or the Game Awards seriously anymore after this.
I kinda like him for singlehandedly destroying Highguard, it wouldn't receive 1/4 of the hate if it were just a no shill random announcement in the middle of the show. Hope this ends hero shooters for good.

Apparently this game dropped from 90k players on day one to 10k players by day two. Probably a lot of that has nothing to do with the gameplay, though, for matchmaking seems to be totally broken. I watched a clip of a vtuber trying to play, and this is what would happen: she would wait in queue for a while, then it would say a match was found, but, after getting to the loading screen, it would stop and announce there were only 5/6 players, wait ten seconds, then boot everyone back to the lobby instead of looking for someone else in queue to fill the spot. When she did manage to get a game, everybody would get disconnected from the server after it ended and have to wait in the login queue to get back in. She said she had only gotten to play three matches despite two hours of queueing.

I know this from my DotA addiction: you need to have 3 queues:

1. low prio - for the felons. And I don't mean people that say mean things. I mean actual griefers and trash.

2. normal prio - people that just started queueing for a match. This should have anywhere from 30s to 1 minute of a minimum search. Why? People change their minds a lot with that time. Anyone in queue after 1 minute, are pretty sure they're in for a match. That and they also make room for...

3. high prio - people that have had happen what WhiteShark portrayed above and need 1 more person to fill in the ranks.

It's fairly certain to me that the people that have made this game are absolute rookies at building online experiences. The game is absolutely terrible in almost every aspect. It's actually kind of wholesome to see a game fail not because of politics and/or superficial reasons, but because it is just plain boring to play.

As it should be.

Marvel Rivals works because at least you probably have some idea who these people are and what the setting is. The "why are they fighting" is a bit more confused, but people are apparently satisfied with seeing the people they know fight in places they're familiar with.

God this game is actually frickin amazing.
I don't usually nominate in that Steam thing but if it pops up again I'll probably be doing it for this.
So much better than overslop and slop rivals as well.
Really well made, would recommend.

As far as I can tell, it was just bland and poorly designed. Not every game flop necessarily involves DEI.

They weren't as comically bad as Concord's, but they were still pretty bad: nigress, man-bodied masked "woman", glowering woman with short hair, etc. On top of that, the whole visual design just sucks, or, more to the point, is fundamentally absent. There's no detectable theme other than being brown and ugly. There's no attempt to unify the modern guns with the fantasy elements.

As for why it became a target, it's probably mainly because of the reveal at The Game Awards, but also because making fun of hideous hero shooters has been a pastime among gamers since at least Lawbreakers.

I think many are comparing it to the likes of Concord because the aesthetics of this game are as as generic and samey as they get for a modern hero shooter.

The developers didn't even bothered to appeal to the gooners with attractive designs like Marvel Rivals did.

Well, i do not play these kind of games just going on screenshots. From what I had seen it was not worse than overwatch, valorant or that zoomer show Arkane.
