Mass Effect is basically just a evolution of the KOTOR formula. The prothean beacon(s) might as well be a Star Map.
Yes. Kotor 1 is also much more of a Star Trek game than a Star Wars game. Kotor 2 is more Star Wars.

With Bloodlines 2 out we need something else to wait for. FOTOR it is.

Having multiple settings that are thousands of years apart but 100% identical in every way is very funny

Maybe if we're really lucky we'll get four different colored endings this time instead of three!

They patched a yellow ending into Mass Effect 3.

Yes. Kotor 1 is also much more of a Star Trek game than a Star Wars game. Kotor 2 is more Star Wars.
What?
Star Wars isn't about exploring strange new worlds, discovering how they work, and getting involved in their local adventures. It is about heroes of legend overcoming dramatic personal struggles and defeating the evil Emperor with the power of your goodness (which automatically causes the whole Empire to crumble, somehow). Aliens and secondary characters don't have personal stories, they only exist as plot devices for the heroes to bounce off of - the literally slimy mafia boss, the reformed gambler, the ancient kung-fu teacher. Planets exist to set the right mood via scenery - desert world, swamp world, magma world - not to be full-fledged settings, nobody cares about the politics and economy of Tatooine.

Once you start getting involved into a civil war on Manaan, or in the Sith colonialism on Kashyyyk, it doesn't feel like Star Wars anymore - it becomes a regular space opera adventure ("Star Trek" is a synecdoche for the genre). Which, to be clear, is far from a bad thing, especially for a RPG. It's why the structure worked so well and it got kept for ME1 and Dragon Age.

Kotor 2 is sort of a hybrid because it still fleshes out many worlds, but most of the stories tend to get indirectly tied back to Kreia's circlejerking about the Force and the Exile's emo brooding about Malachor V, so it feels more Star Wars-y even if the plot is 'no you shut the **** up dad George, the Force is evil and we'd be better off without it'.

even if it was finished it would still have a pretentious, boring story that takes itself too seriously

it would still have dull environments

it would still have ******** characters like hanharr and Jaq

it's tedious and insists upon itself

I'm sorry you couldn't understand it. I could perhaps recommend some guides for character influence?

the only thing it does better is the variations you can get in the story, and the influence system while a good concept is executed horribly
