Some infos:

> You can toggle between first-person and third-person perspectives via the options menu.
> A well-known character makes a comeback, but it’s uncertain if additional characters can be played.
> The demo kicks off in Raccoon City’s Remnant Hotel, with Grace suspended upside down on an examination table.
> Grace explores what seems to be a medical facility, initially defenseless but able to grab improvised weapons like glass bottles.
> Though an FBI agent with some training, Grace is more scholarly, gripped by fear of her eerie surroundings and growing more anxious as she progresses.
> A terrifying new creature pursues you, evoking memories of Mr. X and Lady Dimitrescu.
> Regarded as one of Resident Evil’s finest monsters, it’s towering, moves with Xenomorph-like agility, and its nearby sounds and motions are deeply unsettling.
> Previewers noted that first-person mode heightens the tension and fear when evading the monster compared to third-person mode.
> First-person view enhances the sense of exploration and unease, while third-person is better suited for fast-paced monster confrontations.
> Grace may trip over herself while attempting to flee.
> The game is visually stunning, with exceptional use of light and shadow.

I started playing RE8 in third person with some mods to turn Ethan into Leon because Ethan sucks.

I'm sure there's a level of "git gud" involved here but I'm really finding the gameplay of RE8 kind of weird and inconsistent with it's aims. It's at an awkward midway point between RE4's action focus and RE7's survival focus that doesn't feel super comfortable to play. It has quite a few extreme direct lifts from Resident Evil 4 at least on the surface level but trying to play it like RE4 doesn't really work out.
The biggest issue is how the game sort of sets you up to expect a more RE4 action oriented game but the generic enemies you fight are kind of annoying to fight unlike the ganados. Headshots don't immediately stun, stunning can feel sort of inconsistent, if you don't block (which you cannot attack from and still results in you taking some damage so you're incentivized not to bother) enemies will often grab you and lock you into a long animation of biting you similar to RE2 Remake.
I just don't really *get* it. Resident Evil 4 made combat extremely fun. Lining up shots, going in for melee attacks, using the environment to rack of kills to then collect drops was super satisfying to the point they added a game mode that was just that. Here it feels like they added a bunch of surface level action combat focused mechanics but didn't tweak anything to make them feel very good to play.
I'm just stating the facts.

Also is anyone else kind of getting fatigued by the "giant unkillable enemy that stalks you through a level" gimmick? It was neat and scary in RE2 remake but I think everyone pretty much knows the quirks and ways to cheese these encounters. The fact I can never kill them makes them basically non threats because I'm not going to waste precious ammo and I know I can easily bait them or just run into one of the magical save rooms they can't go in for unexplained reasons. Nemesis was an actual improvement on this but Lady Dimitrescu might be the worst possible devolution possible. At least Mr. X was essentially a mindless automaton. Dimitrescu is a fully sentient intelligent person and chooses to walk around like she has a stick up her *** ineffectually doing slow telegraphed wind up strikes I can outrun in my sleep. Yawn!

She has a pretty similar moveset to the tyrannt very telegraphed. But atleast you can do this.

But the worst thing in this game was the area after Dimitrescu for me that I uninstalled it,

And yeah without disememberment or at least heads getting blown off its no good resident evil game, the werewolvs sucked.

Village is heavily frontloaded with the good stuff (village and Dimitrescu's castle), much like RE7.

At least Village does pick up some steam back by the last third, unlike RE7 where it just gets progressively worse and bland the moment you leave the family home.

I assume this is deliberately done by Capcom, pouring the most attention and dev time in the first 2 to 4 hours of the game to get the early positive buzz going.

To be fair their heads will explode on death which is satisfying.

As for Dimitrescu I was really shocked how little her and her daughters are in the game for how much fanfare there is around her whole segment. I expected a castle section on the same level as the castle in RE4 or at the very least the RPD in Re2Remake. Instead it's basically a 90 minute set piece at best. You literally start one by one killing her daughters in the same scene the qeakness is introduced not long after their introduction in the first place. Basically entirely unremarkable in both gameplay and story except for coomer memes and Dimitrescu having a fairly neat final transformation

With the fetus monster sure it manages to be scary but you know what it doesnt manage to do? Be fun or interesting to play. The moment my guns were taken and I saw lockers to hide in I knew I was just going to get the same barebones runaway **** from Amnesia. Yawn!

Playing some of the RE8 Mercenaries mode and it's extremely fun to the point I wish some of these gameplay features such as the ability to buff knife damage or Chris' punch could have been implemented in the base game in some way.

Finished Requiem. I had some fun, but overall it's not good.

The first half of campaign was promising (decent survival horror, felt like a RE1-2-7 mashup), but then the POV switched to Leon Kennedy, and the game turned to complete ****. Like a crappy janky The Last of Us clone, with awful environments that look like they were ripped from some other cancelled project. The enemy variety is poor, the encounter design can be described as 'let's put a bunch of zombies in a corridor', the mechanical depth to the combat is very shallow, the survival/resource management elements barely matter, the gunplay/impact/enemy reactions feel inconsistent.

50% good + 50% **** = meh.

Last one I played was 4. Didn't like the over the shoulder action bs. Beat it though. First three are the only ones I would go back to play. Same with the Doom games. OG Doom and Blackmetal/Brutal are my jam. 3 Was like a F.E.A.R type game for me. I don't mind it as far as branching off and trying something different. Only 'different style' title in a series I can think of that I enjoyed. Crank up the volume, darkness everywhere, beauty. Should coop it with little bro if I can at some point. There's RE's after 3? lol okay. Like WoW... there's **** after Wotlk? LOL mmm hmm.
LBL Season 1: 11-5 - 2026/27 Season 2: Incoming... LBL Board Game vs Little Bro: 4-3... - *** ( Legend Difficulty ) Practicing...... *** < Militum Christi > 25-0 FOR J. WOOOOO BABY.

People keep claiming that re9 is like "re6 garbage".

re9 is nothing like re6, not really sure where people are pulling this one from. i don't think you can even compare re9 to the others, maybe like re8 village with the first person aspect with grace? leons is nothing like the previous games, and defo not like 6

Good review (still watching atm):

Some ******** kid losing his tits bcos of the above review:

So weird to see a toxic nintendrone like community form around the resident evil franchise. They'll defend the game until their last dying breath no matter how awful the game is. They even attack other people for saying it's bad or for leaving a bad review. Such a bizzare cult-like behaviour. Sometimes I wonder if some of this behaviour is financially incentivised..

And I could not find the good review in search results when typing in YouTube search "resident evil requiem sucks". Instead the ******** kid's video was the result pushed towards me even though it's defending the game and is the opposite of what I searched for?

Also I finished playing through RE5 twice before playing this game, still managed to get co op ransoms in as well. Was way more fun than RE9 imho.

When I played battlefield 6 royale mode, it was so bad I stopped playing multiplayer games.

Ever since I played requiem, it was so bad I've just stopped playing games all together atm. I haven't even turned my pc on for the past week (altho I been ill so)

The more time goes on the more i hate the game. So weird nongame has ever done this to me before tbh

I mean I don't want to **** on a game ppl might like, but it's just so bizzarely odd in a way where parts of it were just off and not as good as it should've just been
