"B-but the porn isn't in the Steam files!" So? Who's going to buy this and not install the porn patch?
What are we talking about? An individual user or a child account user subject to parental controls? The latter cannot have access to certain games unless a parent allows it.
Regarding the game in question, it is indeed one of those games that had its NSFW content removed. In this case, the NSFW patch is not available to a user with the General Mature Content checkboxes turned off.
A child account user cannot install the porn patch unless explicitly permitted to.
Now if it's and independent user, sure yeah it's a free for all.

This is the scheme:
Developer makes porn game
Developer strips porn out of porn game (often making it totally incoherent)
Publisher puts game on Steam
Publisher offers a patch on its homepage (NOT on Steam) that contains the porn
User buys the game on Steam
User goes to publisher's home page and downloads the patch
User applies the patch
User has restored porn game
Unchecking all the boxes in Steam does nothing to hide these types of porn games because, technically, there's no porn in the Steam files. Thus, there are no filters you can use to specifically avoid them. The best you can do is block tags that they commonly come with, but that's not an ideal solution because it ends up blocking other types of games, too. I wasn't even arguing specifically about whether children can access them, but, since you brought it up, no, parental controls can't stop them: even with parental controls enabled, they could still buy the game, go to the publisher's site, and download the patch.
All three of the games I linked earlier are porn games distributed following the above scheme. It's something porn game publishers came up with back before Valve started letting openly pornographic games on their platform.

I do not see a link to the developer website on that game, but indeed there are social media links that chain back to the website. I see your point in that this is a loophole to be exploited. Would the removal of these external links from the game's storepage be satisfactory? 'Cause anything further that that I'd say is out of Steam's hands. By that point we'd have to look at removing Skyrim too since people can download sex mods for it.
Also steam tags ARE USELESS I HATE THEM I HATE THEM. Filter out Mature and you get rid of ******* Batman Arkham Knight, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Doom The Dark Ages

Since Valve is entirely free to accept or reject whichever games it pleases (the which has been the subject of much controversy among devs whose games have been rejected with little explanation), there's nothing stopping them from saying, "Yeah, I looked up your game on DLSite and found that it's just porn, so we won't accept it." Were it up to me, I would reject any game that was primarily intended as a porn game, even if they stripped it out for the Steam release. Skyrim is different in that it was not intended to be a porn game. It's a flawed game, but it's still a game first and foremost, not a vehicle for porn. I wouldn't ban it for having a degenerate modding community.

This is incredibly Jewish, since it follows the letter of the submission rules, but not the spirit.
The patches are for people who want to play the game but without the adult content. Easy way to expand the amount of potential buyers.
Even after they started allowing it, they would still reject games for having certain pornographic themes (or for no stated reason at all). The patch scheme helped evade that. There's approximately a 0% chance that the number of users who would buy the game and not install the porn patch is enough to make it worth translating the game and releasing it on Steam.
Yeah, inclined to agree. Free speech only works in a God fearing White patriarchal society, where all participating actors are in good faith and subscribe to the same set of moral principles and some very basic things like: out of moral and immoral option having strong bias in favor of moral option, not intentionally and/or willingly acting immorally, etc.. Then free speech can flourish because we will be fulfilling at minimum the 2 principles of a) all speech being uttered in good faith and with (generally) virtuous intention, b) all actors being rational and capable of thinking rationally and critically rather than in alternative modes. Without that we start having the worst and most degenerate kinds of sophistry, and to make things worse - crowds that will be clapping to that like seals because they can't think rationally (or even for themselves sometimes) and the sophists made an appeal to emotion or whatever is any of the other number of rhetorical techniques that only serve the purpose of convincing dim and confused.
First, we need to at least become a society that can reject trannism unanimously and without having to have a protracted debate (because it really is that obvious how idiotic and immoral it is), then we can entertain such ideas.
The purpose of free speech was to safeguard the expression of what may be, unpopular beliefs. This was part of the democratic process (read demos, meaning citizen, not just anyone who happened to be there). It was impossible to have democracy without free speech, and impossible to have free speech without democracy.
In the modern West, we do not have democracy. We have a strange plutocratic system which holds random voting events which are generally rigged through the mass importation of non-citizens, or the giving of votes to people who vote emotionally. Which is why you must restrict voting rights.
Free speech is to allow people who are not emotional actors, and who are (most importantly) citizens, to exercise their opinion without fear of legal repercussion; you do not have to agree with them, and in fact, if they say something stupid, you should throw eggs at them. You just don't get to arrest them.
However, if they are unable to form a reasoned argument, and are not citizens. They do not get free speech. So you can very much arrest them. It was never designed to protect people who operate exclusively in bad faith.
Hope that helps!
I think we are on a more or less the same page here, although I would go as far as to say that democracy may not even be a requirement for the free speech (although the reverse is as you said true), you could still benefit from free speech (as in our definition of it) even under a different government system as long as such system would put some amount of value in demos opinion.
Yall are stuck spinning wheels on "but think of the children", while the real argument is: porn shouldn't be tolerated, and coomerism must go. Don't care if you're an adult or a child. We can revisit this issue when the society has recovered from its current degenerate state, as what it needs right now is a serious detox from all of it and it sure as hell not going to do it voluntarily.
And get the **** out with appeals to status quo aka "but it was like so for N years". If it wasn't like so, and then became like so, then it stands to reason that we can just make it any way we want with a complete disregard for how long it was in the current state, especially if the current way is ******* degenerate.

Agreed except for the part where we revisit it. No, it must go and stay go.

Well, the funny implication is that should we revisit it when the society has returned to sanity the debate would be short and end with a "no".
Also to throw in another point: if you don't believe in Christian God, then it stands to reason that you don't believe that God given rights are in fact God given. So where do they come from? From man.
What else is true about rights that come from man? Right, that rights made by man are only rights insofar as they are enforced by men under the threat of violence (read: military, police). Rights that are not enforced under such threat are no rights at all as there is nobody to enforce them. So conclusion: secularist rights exist only insofar as armed men are willing to enforce those rights, and should they decide against it your rights just become a collection of empty sounds.
And don't try to come back with any kind of mystical "natural rights", because they simply imply a belief in an alternative form of deity (for example nature) and hold no water in the system where existence of divinity is rejected.

Maybe, but remember: Steam isn't making this decision voluntarily of their own free will. The question is how much culpability they can avoid while still collecting the money.
Because what you propose will just drive the offending content to "an unofficial mod made by anonymous people totally not affiliated with the game's development".
Well, zooming out momentarily - it is a bit troublesome but not because of the kind of content impacted but rather via the fact that today it may have been a good outcome achieved via questionable means, but tomorrow the same actors may push something like DEI or other creepy liberal agenda and there would be little difference in terms of how they pressure Valve to do so, so little reason to believe there would be a different outcome to this one. So, let's say, if tomorrow they decided that also they want every game to be ***** inclusive there is no reason to believe Valve would not comply.
So I kinda do understand the angle *some* people take with this - it's not what kind of content was removed, it's that payment processors have demonstrated the extent of their influence, and this extent goes as far as removing hundreds of games they don't like. And payment processors not being known bastions of traditional values or even conservative ones does leave the door open to any kind of leftist ******** getting pushed the same way should there be enough will on their part to push it. This time they may have listened to a bunch of feminists (which despite a good outcome this time typically leads to worst outcomes), next time it may be some ***** group.
So to wrap this up (somewhat): I think while the outcome was good this time around, the precedent is dangerous and we should be concerned. It's a metaphorical loaded gun that anyone with enough influence and will can aim and shoot. The "anyone" part is the concerning part.

Christianity is dying, you're only getting this if you align yourself with Muslims.

Payment processors have already been shutting down content libtards politically disagree with, so the precedent was already set.
The fact that it took removing rape and incest games to get redditors to get up from their ****-stained gamer chairs and take a stand against censorship is quite something.
Where were all these supposed "anti-censorship" people before? Are they really "anti-censorship"? Or are they just upset that this is going to lead to a path that's going to make it harder for their melted goonerbrain to find degenerate material to goon to?
Coomers are morons who only care about one thing: their coom. Once you take that away they'll become whatever useful idiot they think will get their cooms back.
Yeah, I think the redditor reaction is less of a defense of free speech or anti-censorship and more of coomer games being taken from the people most hopelessly and pathetically addicted to them. If they bring the coomer games back you just watch the whole anti-censorship sentiment die down within 48 hours.

Yeah just like
Left- and right-authoritarians behave the same. As a true lolbert I wished for total payment processor power death in both cases.

You're only a lolbert because you can't comprehend that the conclusion of a free society would be compelled to use their freedom of association to exclude societal degeneracy like your ****** gooner ******** and that your hedonistic values can only thrive in a doomed society subverted to defending ideals detrimental to itself.

People here already have a severe impediment of individual thinking but yea, most do not realize this isnt a war against steam, or porn. It should be a war against payment processing companies. I bet you all of the Americans here are unhappy about their money wasted on supporting Israel or random shitstain country support and aid, yet they give it to **** all the time through processing fees. As much as people like to hate on crypto, it is most likely the future. Also hilarious seeing people justify this as Gaben/Valve character development, Steam has had no restrictions for a long time, there are Hitler dating sims and furry games, there was literally 0 censorship to protest against anyways.
