So which game meets your expectations?
In terms of graphics? Sekiro looks a lot better. I think it's the constant overcast gray weather in Elden Ring which makes it look like ****, Sekiro had sunlight or nighttime and it generally looked fine.
It has morning, afternoon, and night + different weather effects. I don't remember anything about overcast gray weather, maybe because of the graphic setting.
I think it's a matter of taste, the game just looks ugly and unappealing to me.

Elden Ring is getting horse armor dlc (+Lucatiel's set and weapon from DS2) on all platforms, but it remains unconfirmed if it will be free or not.

The title will also feature new armor, weapons and customization features for Torrent’s appearance.

Sounds like the horse content is cosmetic and the armor is a separate matter.

This game looks like a mishmash of completely different artstyles. Sleek cyberpunk train with glowing orange lights in a 20th century rusty industrial yard. A gothic cathedral. A guy with strange grey hair wearing a plain medieval period shirt. A guy in a modern black leather biker suit. A woman wearing a traditional Vietnamese dress while standing in the middle of a medieval European city. A Japanese Oni posing in front of renaissance statues. A creepy gasmask guy from the animated movie Nine. Majora's Mask/Yoko Taro helmet moon. A zombie in a cowboy trenchcoat with a rifle slung over his back. There are many other games that have a mishmash of cultures, but they have a cohesive aesthetic to unite them together.

We got some clarification in a recently released press release on Elden Ring Tarnished Edition.

"The new armor, torrent related features included in the “ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition” will be made available as a digital purchase on other platforms."

yeah it's an asset flip. Fromsoft are now LEGOing their games from the bits and pieces of Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

I think fromsoft worshippers will eat anything up at this point even if they sell them the same game over and over again.

It's pretty insulting to now be charged X dollars for 4 armor sets, X weapons, and a basic feature people had been asking for since vanilla launch. This is on top of nightreign having day 1 dlc and duskbloods being switch exclusive not to mention pvpve

Very minor update but the press release was updated and now specifies there's 3 torrent skins in the mini dlc (the 4 armors remain unchanged). We have yet to find out the number of new equipment being added. At least 3 new pieces of equipment going off of the screenshots.

Yeah, FromSloppers are basically fully willing to pay 40 $ for a glorified asset flip Mod in Nightreign. Lol but they cried when that one guy was selling that Garden of Eyes mod for 5 bucks.

****** Nightreign also explains why they never added a Boss Rush to ER. They wanted you to pay 40$ for a shittier version of it in Nightreign.

Literally the only fun part of a Souls game are the bosses, you could delete the rest of the content and still have a good game - infact an even Better game. The open world's a Waste of time. Nowadays whenever I play ER i cheat myself 99 of each upgrade stone so I dont have to bother with the ****** copy-paste Mines anymore and then I upgrade my gear based on the area im in.

Still dont get why NG+ doesnt leave all graces activated. Like who wants to be walking around like a ****** through their empty-*** repetitive open world? Just get me to a ******* boss...

Elden Ring just feels like a one big Chore, like homework. Theyre literally Worse than Ubisoft at this open world ****.

yeah nightreign couldve just been a part of the regular game. its literally the same exact graphics, animations, locations, many enemies etc. but theyre making you pay 40$. other than the Colloseums (which nobody cares about PvP in a souls game) FromSoft never gave anything back to the community for free in anyway. as bad as Larian is in many ways, at least they added a bunch of new endings, interactions etc. to Baldurs Gate 3 without making you pay for it, now even adding new sub-classes, but it was ****** Elden Ring that won the award for "Labor of Love" on Steam last year lmao - after releasing this dreck of a DLC. Shadow of the Erdtree was a huge disappointment and finally made me lose faith in FromSoftware. im glad i got it for free.

honestly, Nightreign probably Was meant to just be another DLC, but they didnt want you to be able to unlock it with Creamapi like you could with Shadow. so they made it seperate.

Shadow of the Erdtree content should have been integrated into the Base Map, while Nightreign could have easily been the alternate, out-of-time reality (see Farum Azula) thrown on the secondary map. This approach would have still allowed FROM to bring pretty much anything from any game as "reflections of bygone/future eras". The funny thing is that Nightreign even removed customizable characters, which is half the fun in Souls Multiplayer, in favor of pre-mades.

Elden Ring has a lot of really weird homo(?)-******-fetish material that I was surprised to see almost nobody mention once I dug into its story.
I hated the whole Radhan and ***** ****, so disgusted I even forgot his name... Miquela, was it ? Still didn't buy the DLC in part because of it.

I don't remember anything else that was obvious gay/***** ****.

Edit: forgot about Marika swapping to a Ginger ****, like Ranma 1/2
What's wild is the average normie reaction to Radahn being Miquella's lover was "Huh, i mean i guess that's kinda weird, but WAOW HAVE YOU HEARD HIS SOUNDTRACK THO?? BEST TRACK IN THE GAME!!"

We've been so demoralized now that we're just ignoring straight up pedo-bait.
At least Marika=Radagon can be explained due to lore (TLDR Marika is a Jar Experiment gone right) and I can tolerate Miquella being eternally young (every single one of Marika's descendants has a curse of their own).

That said, while Radahn being Miquella's Promised Consort doesn't make any sense lorewise (Godwyn and Malenia had better cases), is the implied sexuality part of the original developer intent?

In Japanese, PCR's title is 約束の王、ラダーン, which directly translated means Radahn, the King of Promise/Radahn, the Promised King. In-game, Elden Lord/Lord is always referred to as King (王) in the Japanese text, so Radahn was clearly meant to share our in-game title. Were did people get the idea that there was anything sexual between Radahn and Miquella? The only scene in-game that actually touches upon Miquella's promise, explicitly states the naive/innocent nature of their vow:

Official English Translation - Japanese Text - Alternate Translation

Remembrance of Radahn, consort of Miquella, hewn into the Scadutree. - 影樹に刻まれた ミケラの王、ラダーンの追憶 - Remembrance of Radahn, King of Miquella, carved on the Shadow Tree.

In their childhood, Miquella saw in Radahn a lord. His strength, and his kindness, that stood in stark contrast with their afflicted selves. - 幼き日、ミケラはラダーンに王を見た: 脆弱な自分たちにはない、強さを そして優しさを- As a child, Miquella saw a king in Radahn: Strength and grace that we do not have in our fragile selves.

And so Miquella made his heartfelt wish. That Radahn would one day be his king consort. -
だからミケラは純真に願った: 私の王に、なってください - So Miquella wished naively: “ Please be my king.”

Thus the usage of consort and heartfelt (instead of king and naively or innocently like in japanese) makes quite a difference in how the whole thing ended up being perceived by the fanbase.

Shadow of the erdtree WAS all the cut content. Don't ask me why they cut the ending last minute or why they decided to pivot last minute and keep it isolated from the main game. Hell in the gameplay reveal trailer you can see Miquella lift the veil hiding the land of shadow.

Interesting note about the divine towers. We know from all of the extensive datamining those were how you originally accessed faram azula.

I was dreaming about a hypothetical scenario were FROM actually spent the effort to complete the unfinished content leftover in-game like Godwyn's Boss fight, "Millicent is our Malenia" questline, Merchant Kale's quest, Asimi/Silver Tear quest, the (promised) Melina bossfight, Rico's Dream quest and so on. At least a few of them will most likely get in through mods. At least I can headcanon that the Gloam-Eyed Queen/Melina is Marika v1.0 before being turned into a Jar with Radagon et al. Because for me, without that there is no point in getting hyped for the announcement of a gimped Switch Edition adding some extra armor sets.

I totally agree. I'm still mad they cut the "knight of the gloam eyed queen" in sote and rebranded it as the "putrescent knight" instead. The cut kale questline is especially painful because that voice actor could of easily been a contender for voice actor of the year. Dude poured his heart in soul into his role only for it to not go used. The one thing about the riko questline being cut that really sucked is that also meant the beastiary was cut. Part of the purpose of sleep was to collect the dreams of almost every enemy and fauna in the game. There's hundreds of icons sitting in the files going unused. I'm glad riko lives on as Igon though. If they really do charge for the horse armor dlc that's going to be a big red flag moment

Because the game is less tedious, and you feel more agile. I've been playing it for 4 hours now and it is fun and challenging.
(Only thing I am annoyed at is the drop rate of bows. it feels like 80% melee and 20% ranged, which sucks because there is a character mainly focused on ranged combat)

Edit: After the first run you successfully finish, the difficulty ramps up to be way more insane .

I replayed the dlc on console about a month ago after having not touched the game at all for months It was more noticeable on a second playthrough just how many areas within the map are completely barren. Not even trash consumable drops on corpses just empty space with some fauna if that.

I'm going to replay the game for the first time. I respecced to max ARCANE before the replay, but I put all else into ******* FAITH.

I initially played it as a sorcerer and this was my first fromsoft game. I am so ******. I want max ARCANE for items, but I need vigor etc. I sperged this. I also mean to take my time with the game this time, as I rushed it my first time as I was going homeless and wanted to complete the game beforehand. I wonder how long it will take me to get to Renala and then defeat her to unfuck my past choices. :old2:
