The Metacuck Simulator.Immerse yourself in a beautiful, intimate and powerful story between two fated lovers.
I saw the image before I noticed the text above it and was about to ask if this was Yanderedev

Noticing a trend of incompetent game devs being actively hostile and smug towards players who criticize anything and when the game suffers from the negative PR and ******** development decisions they point to the publisher and blame them for everything. The recent Saints Row reboot fiasco is a good example of this.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

We've been told that the publishers are the bad guys for decades, but it's pretty obvious in the era of crowdfunding that they are not at fault.Vergil wrote: ↑ September 27th, 2023, 00:42Noticing a trend of incompetent game devs being actively hostile and smug towards players who criticize anything and when the game suffers from the negative PR and ******** development decisions they point to the publisher and blame them for everything. Creatives need a boot pressing down on their necks constantly, otherwise they either iterate into perpetuity or procrastinate until the money runs out.

From everything we can see, publishers like THQ Nordic(Embracer) did everything they could to be hands off and provide as much support as possible. All they got in return, repeatedly over and over, was spit in the face for it.

The ease with which we can take a peek into their personal lives and opinions via social media has made it clear 99% of devs are ******** scum.
I'm just stating the facts.

Ditto for Microsoft and their stable of developers. Phil Spencer was very hands-off, and despite this light touch and the bottomless Microsoft treasury not a single developer of their has managed to give them a system seller for either the XBox or the Gamepass.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 27th, 2023, 01:00From everything we can see, publishers like THQ Nordic(Embracer) did everything they could to be hands off and provide as much support as possible. The closest they've gotten was Starfield, and we all know how that one turned out.
Then again, part of the issue is likely the competency crisis and the sex and demographic makeup of said developers.

Btw, the "other mass layoff" they are referring to is 10 people being laid off from the Hearthstone team.

Do they think unionization will protect them from being fired by a company that's losing money?

Game dev is not a learning animal.

Not really game news if what they were making was not really a game. ![]()
It's a rare thing when an active developer hasn't released a new game in 10 years. Almost 11 by the time Prime 4 will release (according to rumors).
Rusty is right, only time game devs (and other creatives) produce anything of worth is when there's someone pressing a boot down their neck.
Kickstarter is a great example of this - creatives were given all the money they asked for (and more), all the time they wanted and the freedom to make their dream project, and in 99% of cases they delivered ****. We've seen more recent examples with the studios Microsoft has bought - hands-off approach from corporate, near-limitless budget straight out of MS's coffers and all the time they need, and yet not a single one of them has managed to **** out a worthwhile exclusive that would prompt people to buy the XBOX. Only reason Sony isn't winning the console war is that they're even more incompetent than Microsoft.
Moral of the story is that you need to treat creatives as less than humans. I guarantee you that if it was legal to beat and torture game developers, we'd get masterpieces on the level of Deus Ex or Bloodlines being released monthly.

This piece of **** too.
Also, not only has Beyond Good and Evil 2 been in development for longer than Duke Nukem Forever, but the project lead and creator of the original has died, yet there is no release in sight.
Ubisoft has to be the most obvious example of the competency crisis that is spreading though the gaming industry.

Just going to post this here in advance. Epic exclusive with a black female protagonist. They're relying on everybody except people who buy video games to pay them for their game.

Feel somewhat sorry for Schofield. One of the few in the industry who had above average t-levels.
Don't think Ancel is dead, at least nothing on the wiki about it. Although I think I recall there was a rumour to that effect a while back.gerey wrote: ↑ October 8th, 2023, 21:23Also, not only has Beyond Good and Evil 2 been in development for longer than Duke Nukem Forever, but the project lead and creator of the original has died, yet there is no release in sight.
