Starfield - Todd Howard's latest masterpiece
I see this will now turn into yet another thread about the West vs Japan.
Ok
Oh Look:
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/3541
Modders fixing Bethesda trashfires once again. Now you can actually use your spaceship in the space game.
It's still a very crude and basic implementation and has issues where planets don't load in etc.. Once the creation Kit hits.. I expect star system seamless travel to be one of the first things the modding community rallies around in full force.
****** autists aside, this was a pretty stupid design decision gameplay wise.

The amount of effort it would take to fix this game, as in pozz removal, is too high.

I'm starting to get tired of this game. Finished Ryujin questline yesterday.
The head of your department is a strong badass vaguely brown woman. Her boss is a strong badass woman. The CEO of Ryujin Industries is a strong badass asian woman. The head of R&D dept is a quirky fat indian woman. She's also a genius neurosurgeon to boot. The whole corporation has only one normal white guy, but he's probably gay though.
The boss sends you to a rival corp and asks you to secretly upload a program to their computer. The receptionist at a rival corp is a ginger irish woman. She immediately tells you her whole backstory and reveals that she's secretly in love with a quirky black dude who is apparently ********, because he took a large loan to open a mining shop on a planet that has no mining operations.
The boss gives you a mission to ruin a deal between a rival corporation and some smaller organisation. The goal is to convince two bosses of that smaller organisation - the first one is a white guy who looks like a hick, and the other (CEO) is a strong sassy black woman who is also highly professional and respects innovation.
The boss sends you to retrive some important data from an informant. Said informant is a white guy, who also happens to be a total scumbag. Instead of just giving you the data, he sends you on a mission to find and kills his ex girlfriend. The girlfriend is obviously a wholesome Robin Hood-type space thief, and you can easily avoid killing her by staging her death and letting her escape.
The boss asks you to visit the building belonging to a rival syndicate, and get rid of a traitor who hides there. You already know the location of that traitor, and the boss of the rival syndicate gave you his OK. What can go wrong? Well there's an sassy fat black woman sitting at the reception, and she obviously won't just let you in without chiding.
it's not even a bad questline, by bethesda standards it's pretty **** elaborate. It has very deusex-like missions where you infiltrate an area and sneak around using bethesda's janky stealth system, or can bypass certain sections by wearing a suit or passing a dialogue skillcheck.
I don't even hate black people like you guys do, but i just can't stop *noticing* things. Makes me want to stop playing.

@wndrbr just keep doing the main quest then you can quit, there's a rather good quest near the end that I thought was very well done and arguably one of the better quests bethesda has ever put in a game

interview with Todd. He says the enemy AI in ship combat was made braindead on purpose, cuz otherwise the combat wasn't fun (it's still a total garbage, but at least you can just upgrade your ship and kill all enemies by just moving your mouse while holding all three fire buttons pressed at the same time). He also explained that the game took so long to develop because they didn't know how to implement planets and ships (aka the worst part of the game, barring the poz).
Promises a long-term support with DLCs and free updates. I assume they'll add a fuel system with a "survival patch" or something like that.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

I felt the Ryujin questline was weak as ****.
The UC one felt a lot better and I'm someone who generally prefers stealth / methodical over guns-blazing.
My issue with Ryujin is that the whole faction seems sorta ******** and implausible and the story kinda sucked ****.. They could of made it way more mysterious and spooky and just told a better story. I can see what they were trying to do with it.. but Stealth and Stealing just don't feel as good in Starfield as they do in Elder Scrolls. I'm not sure if it's just how buildings are designed or.. how characters react to you. It's just not fun.
It's not nostalgia either.. I still load up Skyrim and Oblivion and enjoy being a kleptomaniac in those games. I think it's because Starfield didn't even try to respect NPC schedules and your always robbing big giant ROBO CHESTS in empty rooms. Immersion is completely gone.
One small silver lining is I appreciate the verticality / ventilation systems / level design that encourages stealth approaches (for SOME areas) .. It's wildly inconsistent but unironically my favorite sneaking / stealth quest was the UC one where you go to the embassy and can blackmail someone.. That was literally more enjoyable for me than any Ryujin quest.
(Also in the final quest.. that manipulation skill kept bugging out randomly so gave up and just spammed my starborn ghost magic instead to stay invisible)
I hope Starfield was the "Test this **** out" game and that in ESO 6 they live into better stealth navigation in levels fully.. but that's hope-ium huffing.

The only game BGS got stealing right was Oblivion. Every other games sucks at stealth or, in Daggerfall and Morrowind's case, what stealth? Oblivion was horrible, too. The stealth falls apart so hard they reward you with a cape that takes all your bounty away.
Weirdest cracker you know.
ESO 6 is ultra dead. Todd is just a hype man at this point and either has nothing to do with game development. Or was never the secret behind elder scrolls success like the world claims.
According to my friend who knows people at Bethesda they aren't working on ES 6 at all. It wouldn't surprise me if we saw Fallout 5 as the next announced game.Boontaker wrote: ↑ September 28th, 2023, 04:06ESO 6 is ultra dead. Shirley Curry (Skyrim Granny) was invited to come in and have her face mocapped for a character morph for an NPC in ES6 and they did a video of it and you can see developers working on the game with creaton kit in the background.
Todd said the game is next in the pipeline and has even hinted Fallout 5 might not be next even after ES6. My headlarp is that Obsidian / Inxile will be involved with Fallout 5 instead (Microsoft now owns all 3 companies and all their IP's).

They won't rotate over their main production team until all / most of the DLC is done for Starfield. (Although they have eluded to keeping a skeleton crew on Starfield longer this time around to give Starfield a 'longer tail' of DLC.. maybe working with mod makers? not sure)
This is a well documented dev cycle for Bethesda, they do the same thing every game, going back to Skyrim Fallout 3.

Oh also I forgot, it was leaked in the microsoft / Sony / FTC lawsuit that Bethesda was currently working on ES6 and that was their next planned release.
As part of the FTC v. Microsoft case, it was revealed that the Elder Scrolls 6 from Bethesda isn't expected to launch until at least 2026 and will be an xbox exclusive.
2026.. pffbf. If shartfield took 8 years.. I'll be lucky if I live to see that ******* game.

Make bets on how they will force poz and "diversity" into Elder Scrolls 6. Will every other character be a Redguard or Orc? Will they have some forced plotline about Redguard or Orc oppression? (Argonian oppression ala Morrowind doesn't count because you don't think BLACK PEOPLE when you see Argonians, and diversity of course = more BLAX) Will they start making black High Elves and Nords? I think most of the rulers and leaders in Oblivion and Skyrim were men, so I expect to see far more women in these roles.

More grrrl power is a safe bet. They'll likely double down on pink/green/blue hair colors, add a whole bunch of black Bjorns and Haralds.
They may also combine all human races into one "human race" and get rid of the racial traits.

How many blacks play RPGs? I have been gaming for years and can't remember any more than 3 blacks in MMos or online RPG games
