It seems like the situation on the steam forum for this game got a bit spicy, the comments now require validation before they show up

You need 40gb in your storage just to play this game. This can't be serious. What's up with all these games recently? I get it if it's a new game but come on, this is old stuff barely polished.

(((big storage))) is teaming up with gamedevs

My guess is 4k textures on everything

Yeah it's because of the textures.

Funny thing is : reducing the texture quality to medium is one of the solutions to fix this game's crashing and a couple of troubleshooting threads suggest deleting all of the upscaled textures to improve loading times, which essentially gets rid of the one single actual improvement of this edition, leaving the player with a buggy mess looking worse than the old version! Yay!

I think it's worth noting that the small patch went live the same day the recent reviews on Steam hit "Mostly Negative" - they were at as low as 34% positive at one point. They're back at 40% (Mixed) for now. They focused on fixing multiplayer features while leaving biggest bugs inside campaigns intact. The game is available at a 10% discount on GOG currently, which means my prediction of -25% for Christmas might come true.

Maybe a full patch will fix something notable but it is still shame, **** shame.

alt+enter appears to work, but only if you're actually ingame
why not make it the default?

The patch is out! Fewer changes than a hotfix of some games (ie bg3) and many changes are regarding console interface. Totally worth waiting 2 months for.

It is called Patch 1 implying there will be more but eh

I decided to take a break from Minecraft, so I'm going to try this version. Right off the bat, the character creation section is a downgrade, as my protagonist is positioned further away than in the normal version, making it harder to examine the details.

Not a good start, but I will keep going and see if I can find true improvements somewhere.

Not sure if others have experienced a similar issue, but the mouse lag is atrocious for me. I already reduced the settings to the lowest and that barely made things better.

I pirated this game yet I still feel robbed.

"Improved performance" was one of the main selling points of this release :popcorn2:

Did they fix the camera? I don't see any other reason to play this remake over the original, and then again, I don't think you should play the original.

Surprisingly yes. No more fiddling when the terrain elevation level changes.

Can someone else confirm this, please? If that's the case, that's a very good update.

I could never understand why people complained so much about the camera in NWN2. Ik its by far the most common complaint but like wtf. The only circumstance when I could believe it's an issue could be when the party is in a small tight room cuz walls dont fade from view like trees do so the camera zooms in suddenly if you dont tilt it up. But other than that it was manageable to anyone who actually tried to work with it, even before Mask came out with all them fancy camera modes...

I had no problems with the camera as well. Perhaps people just couldn't find camera mode toggles. The one centered on the main character is pretty convenient for most situations.

Having to fiddle with a camera all the time is annoying.

Fixed cameras where levels are designed with that one angle in mind are the best, perhaps with an option for rotation for edge-cases where it's beneficial to get another view.

Not dead yet apparently: Aspyr released another patch, with a 64bit toolset now. Who knows, maybe content creators will make a switch and this god forsaken edition of nwn2 will actually start being used now.

Ew.
