I thought the cuckoldry **** was a meme, but turns the game quite literally try to make shadowheart **** you during a 4some with a bear.

My diagnostic for the mental illness of the "writer" behind that is repeated beating and total removal from internet access for at least five years.
To be fair shart **** get what they ******* deserve. Her double digit body count is already well known it's the player's fault for pursuing her at that point.
It's amazing how none of what you are saying makes sense based on the parts of the game I saw.

Maybe the outcome was influenced by how cucky your choices were. Game seems pretty reactive.

It has its merits for multiple types of players, depending on what you like to get out of your games. If you like turn based combat then it's the best larian has produced so far. If you like min/maxing to pure absurdity, 5e is an excellent system for that. If you like cinematic RPGs it's currently top notch. Player-sexual bears aside, it has some great companions, multiple of whom have branching quest lines. Give it 6 months and it will be a mod goblins paradise. The game has valid criticisms but that's true for every game these days.

I won't lie, at this point if you don't already own it. You can just wait for the definitive edition, though larian will no doubt release the DE update for free to players who own the game beforehand.

At the very least I think the game deserves a single playthrough for anyone who likes CRPGs

Really? Does Larian plan to release an SDK (if they haven't already), or has the community begun to assemble their own tools?

I don't know much about creating mods, but some of the stuff I have seen was pretty ambitious and that was before the game officially released. Larian have stated they like modders and want to encourage it, I'm guessing they will take a similar approach to BG3 like they did with DOs2.

Almost assuredly, both Divinity Original Sin games had their SDK released. I assume it wasn't released because the game isn't actually finished.

Yes.
Which makes the bad parts so much worse.
It's easily the most reactive CRPG that exists, which can also be to its detriment when the game doesn't recognize you've done something because it just feels off due to how much the devs have gone out of their way to predict most player behavior.

I'm sorry, but no, the companions are not great. There is not a single good companion in the game. Shadowheart is passable at best and the rest are ****. It's the most disappointing part of the game.

Lae'zel and Astarion are fine to good most of the time. Shadowheart is an extremely boring waifu bait character that reminds me of Serana from Skyrim.

Yes the games story is obviously written by childless millennial women dreaming out their "White Man Wars: Revenge Of The Femoid" MARVEL movie fantasy where they just have to make every bad guy white straight male and every good person dike, ***, trannie or a ******.
HOWEVER
The level design is fantastic and well thought out, combat is satisfying and makes sense, all game systems have good synergy, animators, mocap, etc all amazing.
I honestly haven't played RPG this good since DAO.

Doubtful.

Though I think Shadowheart's "good" path turns her into a gigaslut. I could be misremembering, but IIRC, if she's on the evil black-haired path, she turns down a threesome with the Drow prostitutes. But if she's on the "good" white-haired, SJW path, she's all for it.

Again, I could be wrong here. It's been a while since I've played as I'm burned out on the game and only plan to go back in order to murder everyone as the Dark Urge.

I never got any of the "****" **** in my playthrough romancing shadowheart. I turned down every advance by every npc but shadowheart. I didn't volunteer to have sex with any devils, and I certainly didn't pay for access to any of the LITERAL whores in act 3. Every single idiot that got ******, is a degenerate coomer who asked for it. I got my happy everafter tradwife ending.

Gale tricked me into believing he was gonna be a snarky waterdahvian mage who is pretending to be stronger than he is.. I thought he'd have a true character arch where he comes to terms with being a big phony and then actually becomes powerful in his quest with you.....

But no - he's actually a ******* mary-stu elminster-tier arch mage so powerful that he can only cast cantrip spells and is completely unknown in the lore until 10 minutes ago.. but is also having sex with Mystra and mastering Netheril artifacts. :notsureif:

Had to edit my post 5000 times.. but you are right.. Elminster is a Greenwood self-insert plot device. But he's at least established in the setting, even if it feels weird to ever interact with him. He really only plays well as a name drop / author of books you find.

He was used well in BG1 & BG2.. anything more and it's cringe.
