Great blobber. Shouldn't be too onerus for a newbie to learn.
And yes, they're near mandatory. Combat gets veeeery slow.

It seems there's just a fan patch now that can do both(?), I'd need to try it outOrvas Dren wrote: ↑ March 1st, 2026, 15:12thanks, what's the other one?rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ March 1st, 2026, 15:06There's two mods that speed up combat, they work together. @Oyster Sauce uploaded one hereOrvas Dren wrote: ↑ March 1st, 2026, 15:03

Having trouble running an old Windows game?
Rusty's Stuff Collection
These are kinda recent titles and have been on my radar for a while:
This dude (I believe he's a solo dev but not 100% sure) is currently working on a FP Dungeon Crawler based on the boomer shooter DUSK, a demo is available:
I've played this one, I do not recommend it. It's grindy—re-running the same mini-dungeons multiple times each—and has Diablo-style loot. It also had some annoying bugs when I played. That was awhile ago so the bugs may be fixed.
You know, I think I had this game confused with something else, because I had dismissed it a long time ago. But I just saw a video of it being played and it looks pretty good, like a better version of The Darkness Below.
Or just stranger of sword city if you don't care about two extra classes and some QoL. But it's a pretty good take on the wizardry formula. Much faster trash combat, more complex bosses, and I like the concept of limited and impactful party abilities in addition to the ones your characters have. Just keep in mind that you need some sort of plan against critical hits(which are actually instant death.)
