well yeah, the publisher invited all those souls youtubers (like vaati) and showed it to them.maidenhaver wrote: ↑ November 5th, 2023, 21:27What do they base this on except wishful thinking? Did somebody get a demo of the dlc?wndrbr wrote: ↑ November 5th, 2023, 10:44
Souls youtuber that Bandai Namco invited to try out upcoming Fromsoft games says the DLC is going to be as big as some full-size games. Another 30 hours of boring open world areas and copypasted dungeons with summoning ashes as a reward?

Yeah, your skin color's funny.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is FromSoftware's "largest expansion" ever
It takes place in a brand new area of a brand new map, which includes a similar structure to the original game: field areas, legacy dungeons, and other dungeons of varying scale. "In terms of pure surface area, you could think of something larger even than Limgrave in the base game," said Miyazaki.
it's over.Of course, I had to ask Miyazaki if Shadow of the Erdtree will once again include a poisoned swamp. "In a word, yes," he said. "But this was actually a point of introspection for me after creating the base game. It was only after creating it that I realised I really like to create poisoned swamps. And this was a little place of introspection and reflection for me. So maybe, when players reach the poisoned swamp in the DLC, they will feel a little bit of this retrospection."

Skill issue
Didn't see any St. Trina/ Miquella apart from the dead one.Slavic Sorcerer wrote: ↑ November 5th, 2023, 11:41I hope it will heavily revolve around Miquella, expanding on his role within the story, and/or his alter-ego St. Trina
But what I really want is an aoe spell that puts targets to sleep, with effects like on St. Trina's Sword - and I'll be happy

Can't wait to fight another Ulcerated tree spirit, or another Burial watchdog statue.

I've seen a butterfly spell (suits my character modelled after my Druid perfectly) and I learned how to read between the lines when it comes to...the way DS and ER are writtenArcaneLurker wrote: ↑ February 22nd, 2024, 00:47Didn't see any St. Trina/ Miquella apart from the dead one.
I'm quite fond of it
Miquella surely will be a part of the story
It's just my opinion, not the absolute truth

Here's the cut Miquella lines voiced with AI.
So there must be something, but I think there's going to be disappointment if he remains as a cocoon + hand.

Games are still good, but they may as well cut the story nowadays. It's just lore-tuber bait. Peaked with BB and DS1, where the oblique presentation still felt candid.

I’m torn on whether or not I want to create a new character for the DLC or keep my existing one.

Amusing to think this 3 minute trailer will spawn a collective total of 9000 hours of video essay slop.

What type of game would be the ULTIMATE lore-tuber bait?
I'm pretty sure it's possible to make a procedural game that generates such lore automatically to break into post-it-notes and item descriptions and scatter randomly in the world. Then the developer can save money developing quests and cinematics except boss entry sequences, right?
0. "There is a twinkie at mount doom, dropped by Lord Cabot. He couldn't find it, so he went crazy and now his undead body haunts his castle." =>
1. "Mount Doom, how tall it is? - Elfen Ranger Lai'ne"
2. "Where is my twinkie? - Lord Cabot, of the Underdark"
3. "My father lost his twinkie. - Cecilia, Daughter of the Shadow Lord"
4. "The power of the twinkie...empty calories...how many I know not." - Carl
5. "Sword of Cabot, Mad Shadowlord"
6. "Grand Sorcerer Carl made this staff."
7. "Sword of Carl, Grand Sorcerer."
8. "High above the plains lies the Lost Twinkie." - Carl
9. "The Twinkie is at the tallest point in the land...it is said...but where?" Dwarf Roger
10. "How fluffy and moist is my lost desert! Woe that it was dropped in the Land of Doom." - Lord Cabot
Xbox Achievement: Player found the Lost Twinkie.
Xbox Achievement: Player tried eating the Lost Twinkie.
Item: Lost Twinkie: -25 HP. Spoiled a long time ago... Permanent Stat. Poisoned.
The entire story (0), so far as the players can tell, after spending 46 hours finding all these littered clues (1-10), turns out to be all about it.

The expansion comes out in two weeks. A bunch of gamejournos were able to play it for a few hours, they posted their impressions today.
I skimmed through a bunch of articles, seems like the usual gamejourno stuff. "wow one of the best expansions ever made, tons on really new content never seen before in the souls series, you can visit a castle and a dungeon, and there's gonna be a boss called Divine Beast".
Overall seems like a bog standard expansion pack that adds new open world map (or even maps), new legacy dungeons, new weapon types, new magic, new enemies, new bosses, etc. More of the same, basically. Not sure if I'm excited for that, lack of content wasn't exactly the problem of the game.

I didn't know those things spoiled. I thought they lasted forever because they were made entirely of petroleum products.NotAI wrote: ↑ May 22nd, 2024, 19:18Item: Lost Twinkie: -25 HP. Spoiled a long time ago... Permanent Stat. Poisoned.
