I like playing the game. I don't like it when developers make me not play the game. I especially don't like it when developers decide to pad out the game by forcing me to not play the game in order to play the game more.

They're part of playing the game, yes.

I like gambling activities the most. Base management goes to the second place.

Any game that has animal taming or husbandry with the goal of them becoming a combat pet or mount immediately intrigues me.

What's everyone's opinion on cooking & resource harvesting in RPGs?
I like the food system in some survival games better than most RPGs, like in Valheim where you have limited slots for buffs from different foods. Then it makes sense to set up your base to produce the necessary ingredients, and that kind of synergizing gives me satisfaction.

I also don't mind harvesting resources as I find them, but some games have tedious animations like KCD. I think I prefer some kind of abstraction here, in Crimson Desert for example you can pick them manually, but you can also send out dudes to collect resources for you, and you can even get merchant contracts so you can just buy the resources at your camp.

Monster Hunter has an OK system for cooking, where you pick the most appropriate buffs before a mission, ingredients aren't consumable and recipes are unlocked through progression. I like the aspect of striving for more useful recipes.

I can't think of a single game that does it all perfectly, but some certainly stand above others.

Should require completing a marriage side quest to unlock.

Downloading and slamming 2000 mods into the game - then playing until it breaks or crashes, giving up and uninstalling it.

Shops should have everything but common weeds and the most dangerous ingredients, and procuring the dangerous ingredients is what mages guilds are for, until I'm badass enough to get the ingredients myself.

In Skyrim, I like installing and testing mods, some of which are far too complicated to be worth it, get everything running smoothly, every config file tweaked to perfection, and then finally after dozens of hours I don't feel like playing.
Creating the perfect load order is the actual game!

Cooking and crafting is usually clicking through boring 2D UI menus and is not an enjoyable use of my time.

Gathering herbs and ores is at least takes place in the 3D world which is more engaging, but there are soooo many herbs and ores (especially if they respawn) that it quickly becomes a repetitive, monotonous slog. It also usually does not make sense for the heroes to be wasting their time stopping to pick random flowers. It might make sense in a story where your party has narrowly escaped a prison camp deep behind enemies lines, but someone got hit by a poison arrow and you have to situate them in a cave while you scrounge around for a nearby flower to come up with a cure, but otherwise no.

The classic Atelier games better incorporated gathering and crafting into the gameplay, because each time you gather an herb or craft an item, it advances the game by one day. But you only have 3 years to beat the game before your shop gets foreclosed or your dead sister's spirit departs forever and cannot be brought back, etc. And travelling takes time too. So you have to stop and carefully think about what you need to do (go to the next story dungeon and boss fight), how you need to be prepared to accomplish it (I am going to need enough ice bombs and healing potions), where you need to go to get prepared (I need to go to this forest where there are herbs for the ice bombs), how many herbs you should pick so you can craft enough ice bombs (I only need 16 herbs, any after that and I am wasting precious days), etc.

This reminds me of a Runescape solo challenge caled "tinman", where you can only buy an item from the AH after you've acquired it once.
