I read the notes several times to memorize them well and then I shred them and put the pieces back in the envelope to dispose of it all later at my home.
A joint operation against a dangerous drug cartel should be a good enough explanation for my absence if the need to explain myself arises. Federal agents are busy people and sudden assignments happen sometimes. I tell my supervisor that I have to go immediately to prepare myself and arrive on time.
At home I put the envelope in a special container and ignite it. Then I prepare my baggage like I would prepare it for some business trip to not attract any unnecessary attention to myself. Time to go!

The arrangements prove uneventful.

Professor White, your explanation to your lover raises no suspicion. Fifteen minutes later, your text is answered.

ok
see u soon
ily

Your departure from Chicago, Illinois proceeds without complication. The airport is quiet at this hour, and by late afternoon you're seated aboard a flight bound for Fremont, Michigan, flipping through your research notes, sticky notes fluttering against the window beside your seat.

Kalson, your leave request meets the expected level of bureaucratic resistance before it's approved. Danforth asks no questions. Janet accepts your reasoning on one condition: you two are going shopping soon, for your anniversary.

Joyce, you leave your note on the fridge, careful to place it where your wife will see it and your daughter won't. Then you notify your Handler. He knows the procedure as well as you do.

Strand, your excuse is ample enough. Your supervisor gives you the rest of the week. You travel light, just a backpack.

4:17 PM. The flight from Chicago is short enough that Professor lands first, the wheels touching down at Gerald R. Ford International Airport while the others are still somewhere over the various spots around Midwest. You follow the signs around the airport to the parking garage, find the second floor, and walk the rows until you spot the car: a blue 2020 Ford Explorer. Trying to look inconspicuous to the drivers as they go in and out the garage, you crouch by the right rear wheel, run your fingers along the wheel well until they catch on a strip of tape, and peel free a single key. And sure enough, it slides in the keyhole with no resistance. You throw your belongings in the backseat and wait for your new team members.

It's about 5:20 PM when everyone trickles in. Kalson, you ride shotgun, so naturally, you check the glove box. Indeed, there are four burner phones and an address. This must be the rendezvous point. Using the navigation of the car, the distance between the airport garage and Baughman's residence is about, let's say, 50 minutes to an hour. Other than the aforementioned items in the glove box, there isn't anything else in the car.

What do you guys speak in the car? Any greetings? Codenames? Or is it a silent drive until your destination?

I introduce my self as Red to the rest of the team. Keeping introductions short and simple, i try and remain silent for the remainder of the trip.

I greet my colleagues with a firm handshake and introduce myself as Mikko. While in a car, I try to get an idea of specialties of others. "So, looks like a cleaning job. Has anyone done something like this before? I have some experience in searching ships. A house is just a stranded ship, eh?"

I'm afraid I might be seasick, so I hope we will be very stranded. Callsign Totem, by the way.
( Why did I say "totem"? They would think of me as a wooden dildo now!)
I haven't been on that many missions before. But I do know that there's a Russian fairy tale called Moydodyr that literally means "wash until you get holes". Hopefully, we won't get anything like this near our goal.

I introduce myself by my call sign, Riker.

"By my reading this doesn't look too bad. I've done crime scene searches before, this should be about the same minus the need for secrecy. How far is our rally point from Baughman? We might want to go there first and see if anything the Agency has anything else we might need."
