Mods are made (HoTa, WoG, VCMI). I've been in the Heroes 3 community for a while now. And I understand more about it than you ever will.

It is, of course, irrelevant to us as HoMM:OE is a return to Enroth. But the soft reboot happened for a reason. And that reason was, the HoMM community is very… split on the franchise’s origins.

Developer's previous game Iratus was mid btw (Still, would be cool to play it in Junior Adventurer's Guild).
And it at least contained some interesting ideas, like playing as a villain against the forces of light with Darkest Dungeon like mechanics.
So maybe this one won't be that bad.

I would love a better alternative to the Age of Wonders games. But this looks really ***. Looks more like a mobile game and the gay reddit speak they use like "good boi" is absolute aids.

In homm 3 you open a city, do your thing and then leave it open for a while because everything is so beautiful and the music is perfect. No game will ever be able to match the artistic value of homm 3. It's crazy to think the hota crew managed to "get" the style so well the new faction looks like official content.

There's a demo available on steam, I played for a bit. Mechanically it's very ok, even brings its own ideias to the table, but the homm audience (myself included) will never look past the *** cancer art style and reddit cutesy garbage of most heroes.

Bit of a personal pet peeve but I find it odd that dudes in full plate armor are your tier 1 unit. No peasants, you start with awsum troops and unlock awesome'mer troops. Also, homm had no ******* but this one does with the female clerics and xbowmen.

It's so sad because there seems to be a decent game underneath a layer of rainbow colored unicorn ****.

Ackshully, the toony aesthetic goes back to HoMM 1 and further back still to Isles of Terra (or even M&M 2). It wasn't until HoMM 3 that NWC decided to switch to a more serious aesthetic for the strategy games and the RPGs.
