I collect video game and movie scores so it's very difficult to narrow things down to small choices because then I'll remember something else I should have also posted, but I also don't want to spam.



Been re-listening to the Castlevania OSTs recently. Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears are my absolute top twos for that franchise.

That's good, it means this thread will never die! The track you posted completely nails the whimsical sense of adventure , I like it... It sounds a bit like Mos Eisley cantina with the flutes haha.

If I had to pick a favorite of all time OST... one I've been listening to across many games for many years the longest would have to be the Final Fantasy Tactics OST.

If I had to pick just one track of the original it would be:



I chose this one because I've used it the most across many games I've played (mostly PvP stuff) and with my brother who I have the greatest memories with. We've fought along side each other in I don't know how many games and this one is special to me as I recall us being in Alterac Valley (WoW for example), often times just 2 man defending one of the bunkers, or a flag/capture point in other games. This one always gave me a "2 vs all, last stand, desperate fight to stay alive" feeling. The quieter part in it before it picks up again was like a precious needed moment of rest before the next fight.

Larian games took a much 'darker' non-fairy tale tone after DOS, and the music changed with it as Kirill passed away after DOS released.

Halo 2

The original Halo trilogy in general has a phenomenal soundtrack, but Halo 2 just hits different.

I'll list from different games and franchises since I don't have a number one since I love a lot of videogame osts.


I remember playing this on an emulator and I think as soon as the main characters fell through the floor and this played I was hooked. Good times.

This is more recent but when I arrived there I was in awe since this felt so ethereal, this beautiful peace of land hidden among those mountains.

Baldur's Gate 2 was my first game ever and it holds a very special place in my heart. I loved everything about it. The soundtrack, the characters, the atmosphere, the dialogue. The Voice acting in german.

My brother used to play a lot of World of Warcraft and his main was a female blood-elf Protection Paladin, was the guilds front paladin 99% of the time and he was great at it. I used to watch him play, and he kept shushing me away. Nowadays he is soured on warcraft due to the wokeness that got a hold of it and how the story was ruined after WotLK.

I remember my brother buying this for me, and I was really hyped when I heard this main menu theme. GW2 was fun. Wonder if I should play it again.

You know the feeling when you hear a track play and you stop doing what you were doing ingame to just listen? This is always the track that does it for me. I'll post 2 more and that's it for now.

Same here. My Sister even got the special edition soundtrack with Signature.

My brother bought Oblivion and I still got that one Septim that was included in the Special Edition.

One of the greatest OSTs of all time, a hidden gem. Very hard to pick a favourite track, but I think I'll stick to this one. The ramping up and then the "organ drop" and the use of organs in general mixed with the techno sound is just something else.

Possibly the first AC I played and one of the few IPs I became a fan of. Until I wasn't. It's a shame how low the franchise and its company has fallen..


Back when BioWare was seen as one of the greatest RPG developers. Greed and political nonsense just can't help but corrupt all that is good.




Say what you want about WoTR but it has some really delectable music.

Elder Scrolls' biggest strength is its atmosphere and music. Jeremy Soule is a true genius.




Honestly one of my favorite WoW OSTs. Beautiful soundtrack.


Really nice memories with this one. The tone of it also brings me back to when times were simpler.

SimCity 3000, such a great city-building game with an excellent jazzy soundtrack. Fit so well to give the whole urban planning gameplay a classy, yet modern feel.



Panzer Dragoon Orta is more of an acquired taste. Unlike the previous example, I'm not sure how much someone would be able to appreciate it without playing the track-corresponding stages first.



Panzer Dragoon Saga is overall great, but it has a more grand/epic sound and I'm also not as nostalgic about it.

Hotline Miami, despite being generally considered as one of the more recognizable indie games, is still surprisingly very rarely talked about, almost like it was hidden from most people.
A lot of fond memories about it, a lot of good memes were made from these 2 games, but it all feels like ancient history now, left to be forgotten by developers.

Hotline Miami OST is even better when you learn that they almost had a producer for each song in the game. However, I'm not sure if they were all made specifically for the game or if they asked some of them if they can use it for the game.

Simon was a genius.
2014-2018 were peak for this game, afterwards it's almost like the developers collectively decided to ruin it into the ground for no other reasons other than "for funsies, lmao". And the less said about the third game the better.
