Loved playing my N64 until a burglar stole it when I was a kid. As a big boy with access to emulators, it's easily the most ignorable console of its generation. What am I going to do, play Pokemon Stadium?
i unironically played a bunch of Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 on Project 64 emulator when i was young :D

I remember getting by the pikachu that knew surf.

I liked Harvest Moon 64 at the time but I bet I would hate it now.

I hate Unreal Engine simply since it's horrible to do modding for. UE5 modding is worse than UE4, so I assume UE6 will be even worse

Pretty weird to see people ******** on N64 games that redefined genres because they aren't as refined as games that came later.
Most N64 games have aged terribly compared to games of other consoles.

Edit: I recently replayed a bunch of these games on OG hardware when I was visiting family, so the experience is fresh in my mind.

Seems to be a hipster trend to **** on old Nintendo stuff and downplay their affect on the industry. Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie revolutionized 3D platformers. Perfect Dark and Goldeneye were instrumental in early console shooters. Ocarina of Time showed glimpses of what open world games could be. WinBack's cover system inspired many of the third person shooters like Gears of War, RE4, and even Metal Gear Solid 2. While the N64 didn't have the huge library of PlayStation it definitely had a decent catalogue. Goemon, Ogre Battle 64, the Aki wrestling games, Paper Mario, Smash, F-Zero, Starfox, Sin and Punishment, Conker, etc.

Many of the ports to the system like Turok, DOOM, and RE2 were great as well. It was just a solid all around system.

Oh boy, they spent millions on the latest in AI-SLOPPIFCATION-5000 Graphics Post processing Effects

but the Unreal Launcher is still gonna be a giant piece of **** bloatware circa 2010 that takes 1000 years and 20 giga flops of DDR100 memory just to render a store page.

Biggest achivent of unreal 5 was dei programming edits in their engine code. Quality of games made on this engine was as good as this edits.

I'm terrified of unreal 6 achievements in finding another low.
I refuse to believe this is real.
Check the link, it is real.

What are you comparing to? PS1 games looked awful even on CRTs and had lengthy load times. Emulators running at 1080p with instant load times are not representative of the PS1 experience.

To SNES and Genesis games on OG hardware when it comes to the quality of their top games. A lot of the companies making games for the N64 were adapting to 3D, so the quality of the games weren't very good. Understandable, but it doesn't excuse their faults. I do give it credit for having a lot of experimental design, even if it didn't always work out. I haven't played any PS1 games in recent memory, so I wouldn't make a comparison, though I'd generally fault its RPGs for being bloated and poorly paced.
