Guys a 1tb SSD is like $40 now. Whining about file sizes is the dumbest shit and I don't know why so many people keep complaining about it.
Slippery slope.
I'm the kind of guy who downloads uncompressed bluray rips where a 20 minute 1080p video is 6.5gb. I would have rather have beautiful uncompressed data or at least data with lossless compression than be worried about file sizes. Uncompressed textures mean less work for your CPU when gaming too.

Because nothing warrants the file size increase.

Philips on screws is retarded
Ftfy

Also, write a complaint. People rarely ever submit formal complaints for this sort of shit so nothing gets done.
I wrote to steam support.

They should be embarrassed about using phillips.

Higher resolution textures and more cutscenes at a higher resolution and bitrate. Not to mention that characters have to have multiple textures now for light diffusion and such. Do you think the file sizes just went up for literally no reason or that devs forgot how to compress files? Textures are already so compressed that consoles have specialized hardware to help with the decompression.

Nooo! You have to make everything fit on my 500gb HDD from 2005! I never want to delete anything or upgrade my storage ever!

But I don't want games with any of these things.

I'm not sure where you're getting $40 SSDs from. I just checked and from what I can find it looks like a 1TB SSD ranges from $80-120.

You must not be looking very hard then. Here's a ton of them. Hell, there are some 2tb drives for as low as $65

Higher resolution textures
Yet the games don't really look better, they're just copy-pasting textures from public texture archives.
Same sort of shit that leads to this:

I want a dagoboo game taking cues from Sword of the Samurai, but the protagonist is a 19th century cicerone and professor of history.

The projection is wrong, Arcanum didn't use the same as Fallout.

honestly looks worse than the original. original was crisp, also more colorful. that looks dull and blurry and like it had a sharpening filter applied to it, which seems to be standard practice for most of these types of projects

Might just be yewtube, they've been making the compression significantly worse lately.

It took decades to get devs to respond to something like color-blindness, and many still don't address it. 1 in 12 men have color blindness, 8% of the target audience of most video games.
It's sort of amazing how fast they pander to something that is .1% of the population and far more likely to be a "shitlib" who just steals things rather than buying.

They probably lowered the bitrate because you can pay to view at a higher bitrate now

@wndrbr any idea what he's referencing here? Does he work at New Blood Interactive?

It's not only bitrate; now 1080p is like 720p (with bad bitrate) upscaled, 720p is 480p upscaled... jews gotta jew.
