LOL'd at the price. Also early access after multiple years of staying in my wishlist. Also seems like dying simulator.

Hard pass.

Died already, that was pretty uh… not fun.
Feels like they set out to make a simulator then realized they needed to add a game afterwards.

I think the most fun I had was the CYOA at the beginning. And I was surprised to notice it did in fact translate to relations with actual NPCs.

Feel like this game is probably 5 years too early. Might be interesting if it had ChatGPT-tier AI integration.

My exact thoughts on it. Too undercooked and should take advantage of AI, seems tailor made to house it.

From their website: "Please no offers for translation services. The game’s text is all procedurally generated using the grammatical rules of English and impossible to translate into other languages."

They are Canadian

Pretty sad that the only place that consistently creates game worlds full of White people is actually full of Japanese people.

@AliciaDurge What are the laws like in Finland? Are you allowed to depict European history accurately or is that forbidden as "White Supremacy"?

It had 10 people working on it.

The dev released news last year that apparently he didn't pay them for months and this is now a solo project again.

Also he's broke and "mortgaged everything" to pay for the game.

Smart Investment for an absolute niche game that retails at 15usd, discounted for 8.

Something tells me if we wouldn't have wasted money on this, he would have lost it elsewhere. Probably Nigeria or some time share nonsense.

What a shitshow. Is this standard practice in financing small indie games that’s self published?

The dev appears to be some kind of eccentric millionaire with a high-paying dayjob. Or was.

This is clearly a very ambitious passion project. He could've made it in RPGmaker for pennies, instead of hiring an entire team of people.

I played it a few months back. There was nothing here beyond what the RPGM engine could handle.

It didn't work for Curt Schilling, it doesn't look like it's working out for this guy either.

I don't think it is? To be fair tho I don't watch many Finnish movies or read Finnish literature outside of my few favorites so I can't say for 100% sure. I should tho because I've heard it's good. Also I'm not the best judge in this, even tho I love history I also don't really care about accurate history in fiction bc it doesn't personally bother me and I love to see what new stuff writers come up with. This is my opinion, so I know it's not the universal truth or anything.

In UK they don't just prevent fictional depictions under Hate Speech/ Civil Rights BS, they actually use 'preventing the rise of Nationalism' as a justification for re-writing actual history to their own ends.
